Some folks are saying that we got nothing for McNabb and Haynesworth. While I will agree we got pennies back for what we paid for them, when we compare compensation of trades in 2010, we didn't do so bad considering what we were up against.

We acquired a 5th rounder in 2013 for Haynesworth.

We acquired a 6th rounder in 2012 and a conditional 6th rounder in 2013 for McNabb.

Below are trades that took place in the 2010 off season that were for 5th, 6th and 7th round draft choices.


Dallas Cowboys traded WR Patrick Crayton to San Diego Chargers for 7th-round pick.

Baltimore Ravens trade a conditional fifth-round pick to Seattle Seahawks for CB Josh Wilson. (Recognize this guy?)

Pittsburgh Steelers trade WR Santonio Holmes to New York Jets for a 2010 5th round pick

San Francisco 49ers trade QB Shaun Hill to Detroit Lions for 2010 7th round pick

Seattle Seahawks trade QB Seneca Wallace to Cleveland Browns for conditional 7th round pick in 2011

Philadelphia Eagles trade WR Reggie Brown to Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 6th round pick in 2011


If Santonio Holmes with baggage only garnered a 5th rounder then we did quite well to get a 5th rounder for Haynesworth.

Lock at Josh Wilson, the guy we just signed going for a 5th rounder. We did very well to get aa fifth for ALbert.

Two younger QB's than McNabb who certainly had less drama than McNabb and younger than McNabb. Check out Hill and Wallace's stats (links below) in 2008, the last year that they qualified before they were traded - much better than McNabb, but yet they went for a conditional 7th and a 7th. We did well to get a 6th and a conditional 6th.

Some of us look at draft picks as having little to no value, regardless of what round they are in because we do not see the draft as the proper way to build a team.

Therefore while I'm very happy to see both of those bums GONE from DC at any price, it would have been nice to get somthing tangible back for them.

To put it in perspective. Well basically it did not pan out the way we all wanted it to go. Obviously we wanted both Al and Dmac to help bring a SuperBowl that is exactly why we acquired these guys in the first place.

Now we just move on. Our FO made the best out of the bad situation and it is over. In retrospect Shanny may be able to find a late round gem with the picks we got in exchange.

Given the circumstances in which our FO (former and current, of course) put themselves by acquiring these guys AND treating them as they did last year, I'd say the fact that we squeezed any juice out of either, let alone both, as we kicked them out is downright stunning. I'm really shocked that anyone gave us anything for McNabb. It is amazing how fast that star fell.

Anyone who doesn't see the draft as the ONLY way to build a successful team in the NFL is pretty well blind to reason anyway.

Albert has a tough decision here: Do I get my behind in gear and keep my nice contract for the year and possibly contend for a Super Bowl or do I sandbag as I usually do, get cut and join the Eagles for a lot less money and possibly contend for a Super Bowl.

Let's see. It might be impossible to him to get his behind in gear. Loafing is his style - he wants to be with Washburn - Odds are he really has not choice - he will attempt to end up in Philly.

Question: Will Belicheck try to pull a Shanahan and make him honor the 5th rounder it cost him ? Even though it is only a 5th rounder, no coach wants to look stupid. Belichick has a huge ego as well.
