Bumped into Sam Huff a few days ago. He was walking his dog. Got to chat for about 10 minutes. He confirmed wearing pantyhose to stay warm in some cold-weather games. Shook hands.

Saw Darrell Green at Blockbuster Video. Didn't speak. Built like an exclamation point.

Any sightings out there?

I saw Charles Mann last year walking down the street in DC around the phone booth... I walked up to him and I froze

I was like.. uhhhhh... I have your jersey! .. he started to laugh and said thanks. I kept on walking cause I felt foolish and didn't even thank him! LOL

When I was a kid Dexter Manley gave me an autograph that reads "Don't do drugs". That sighting was at Worldgate, pre MS-13...

During the '87 strike some 'Skins worked out at George Mason. I ran some hills with Dexter. Nice guy. Also signed him up at Bockbuster Video (it was Erol's Video then). I waived the credit card. All he had was a non-DL photo ID but I so knew who he was. If you are younger and don't really know Dexter he was drafted in 1981. All Pro in '86 and '87 and in 1986 had 18.5 sacks (tied for 12th best all-time in a season). 97.5 sacks in 10 years. 6'3", 257-pounds. As a rookie in 1981, he ran the fastest 40-yard dash—4.55—of anyone in the Redskins' minicamp. "Amazing," said coach Joe Gibbs.

Back in the day, one of my dad's best friends was a painter in NoVA area and did a lot of work on the Redskins' houses. They had a BBQ with a few Redskins. I remember looking up at Joe Jacoby (when I was about 10)...damn he was tall.

Ran into Sam Huff again today. He was walking his dog again. He invited me into his house. We talked for a good 20 minutes. I mostly listened. He told some great stories. He dropped several F-bombs and MF-bombs along with a few other choice expletives. It was great. He gave me an autographed pic for my son. This is the pic:

I feel as though I've mentioned this story before, but here goes. My only Redskins sighting, ever, was back in like 92, 93. I sat in an auditorium at a resort in the Blue Ridge Mts with Mark Rypien, his wife and at least one daughter. After the show, I went up to him, told him I was a huge skins fan and he signed an autograph for me. I was in middle school, so it wasn't as lame as it sounds.

I ran into Joe Jacoby at the Azalea Festival in Wilmington, NC as a kid. He had women on both arms but signed a bar napkin for me. I have no idea where that went but it was still a cool story. I was about 8 yrs old but I knew who he was b/c of that ugly ass haircut and he was a big motha.

Where's the autograph?

Let me guess, your "son" is named DarthMonk too.

I sighted the entire team in Nashville last season, at the Titans game. Didn't get any autographs.

I just got this copy off the internet cuz I could link it. (how do I post a jpeg?) He had about a dozen behind his desk. He asked for my son's name then verified how to spell it. The he signed it

To "son's name"
Sam Huff
HOF
1982

I thought I'd dole out some highlights of the visit in a coupla posts.

After he invited me in he let his dog off the leash. I bent over to pet her and she bit me! It wasn't a break-the-skinner. She just let me know she could. As Sam walked down the hall he said "Don't try to pet her, she'll bite ya." Then he said something about women being like that. He waived me down the hall to his office. There were amazing photos everywhere.

He offered me a seat. I asked him if Gifford had gotten the 1st down or if the Colts had stopped him short. He said "All I know is that son-of-a b Ameche scored a G D touchdown in the 5th quarter", and under breath, "G D son-of-a b!" That led to a rant on how Giant ownership "F'ed up" letting Lombardi and Landry get away.

You'll have to get it up on a storage site with a public link (photobucket, Dropbox) and then use that url here.

Awesome story, by the way. It's probably no secret that I'd love to be able to meet him myself.
