DEEP at Safety....

Along with Atogwe and Landry, the Redskins have Kareem Moore, Chris Horton, Macho Harris, Russell Anderson and Sha’reff Rashad at safety. Reed Doughty is also on the roster, but he could be a free agent and it’s uncertain if he’s going to return next season.
From this list, I would remove Moore before thinking about Doughty.

I would like to see Doughty back. He plays as hard as anyone on the team even if he isn't the most talented. I would like to see him back before Horton or Moore. I don't even think Macho Harris makes the roster.

definetly keep moore over doughty.
doughty has reaches his ceiling. his talent is maxed out. moore still has room to grow and is already more productive than doughty.

Moore sucks and looks out of place. He makes too many mistakes.
Macho....now that guy is macho...!!!

Realistically with Barnes in the mix at FS it's not a lock that any Doughty, Horton, Moore or Harris make the roster.
If one stays, though, the above order is probably my preference. Doughty's not flashy, but he's totally dependable (both in health and assignments) in a way that none of the others will likely never be.

I expect Barnes back at CB, esp since it looks like Carlos is gone. Between Horton & Moore, maybe we can have 1 in uniform every week. We should try to resign Doughty.

is Barnes ready? I am willing to give the guy a shot I suppose if need be.

Horton/Doughty are SS
Moore is FS.
Do you really compare them?
And I think I'd keep Macho over Moore. Macho also played a lot of CB in college so he brings versatility. Moore's a straight FS.

hard to drop moore when otogwe hasnt played a snap yet... I know atogwe is a lot better but better safe than sorry. they all have value on special teams i just wonder who is the best out of the three on teams?

and Moore sucks as FS so be gone with him. Keep Reed and get another FS.
Put Macho at FS and see him kick butt....

Which, while true, doesn't add anything to the discussion.

Im thinking you keep Macho Harris/Kareem Moore at FS to back up OJ, then Reed at SS to back up LL. THen probably keep Gomes (SS/CB) and Barnes (FS/CB) as CB help/Special teamers
FS - OJ Atogwe, Kareem Moore/Macho Harris, Kevin Barnes
SS - Laron Landry, Reed Doughty, Dejon Gomes.
I would rather keep Macho Harris, but I think Moore might win the backup FS spot with Horton getting cut. Just my 2 cents

everybody needs to slow down on macho harris. this is the guy in '09 who, as a rookie, was supposed to be "dawkins successor". cant beat out sean jones, cant beat out quinten demps, cant get on the field...ever. for an undersized CB to FS transition player i think some in this thread have been quick to toss his name in as a "keeper".
oh wait is it the hokie connection?
moore 100% every time over macho.

I honestly don't think we are that deep at safety. We've got backups who have some upside, and of course Landry, but when I think of "deep" (as in something to be remarked on), Redskins safeties don't come to mind.
"Deep" — by my admittedly arbitrary definition — would mean our backup would likely start on most teams, and the guy behind him would at least be a backup on most teams. I see our starters as being respectable and the guys behind them as being "meh" until they can show something special. We are better than we were last year, which is nice.
Or, put another way, if a starter goes down in week one, I think we will be in some trouble. You don't think that when you are truly deep at a position. (For us, I think TE is where we are deep.)

I dont think we are deep at any position other then TE.

OJ has taken a lot of snaps, just not for us yet. He is a known quantity. Moore & Horton) are injury prone. That's why I would keep Macho.
