I like Orton but I dont think this is a good deal. Even though Al has been nothing but a pain in butt.

To me it's Six of one & half a dozen of the other. I'm not a Orton fan, but I'm even less of a Haynsworth fan.
Why can't we just make due with the QBs we have? If what people say is true, & that we're going to blow chunks next year anyway, does it really matter who's under center? Why not just keep what we have, make due, & draft our QB next season?

Let Me think. A QB that all he does is win for a DT that is a ginormous pain in the ass.
Yes, I make that trade. Because even if we plan to resign Grossman (whom Orton is better than) and start Beck we still need another QB. Since they didn't draft a QB to develop, it makes sense to have three that can compete for the starting QB spot.

After he got suspended and into endless legal altercations after the season I'd do it. I don't want to release him but we're not getting any real value for his skill because his downside is as massive as his derriere.

I'd do it
maybe ... even before we trade McNabb
I'm not sure what the "Shanahan's QB PLan" is but anyway we can make trades for players that will not be a good fit OR for 2012 draft picks, is a good way to go
building through the draft is looking much better
AND we are and were never looking at another bad season - we are getting better

Should the lockout be lifted, I'd do it. This gives us a QB here while we fill our holes.

I think he's referring to that we can't make trades, though I am not clear why that's relevant to our answering the question

DEAL. No brainer. Haynesworth is basically worthless as long as he doesn't want to play. He doesn't want to play in our 3-4. Between his likely (i) inactive status due to lack of interest, practicing, working hard, and (ii) his likely 4-6 games suspension for his road rage and sexual assault matters, getting ANYTHING in return for him is a steal.
Orton is a veteran starter who could fill in. DEAL.

I'd do it, I suppose. Orton isn't that great but it's time to cut bait on Big Al.

Not only do we get Haynesworth out, but we pick up a player who is much more tradable in Orton. He's a pretty good QB as well. Played in the same system as Brees and played pretty darn well. Then he gets to the pros and all he does is win games.

Anyone else think that it's funny that Orton would come in and start over Grossman....the man he replaced in Chicago....Deja Vu all over again.

The fact that Orton is "average" at best, I find it hard to believe anyone would even bring that up. I don't care if he's average.. look @ his numbers last year and you'd be like holy cow this guy can ball. . . Yes, they had "eh" running attack while Moreno was hurt but Orton played his tailpipe off and made GREAT plays. (I had him in a league last year so I'm speaking facts here)
.. and please, for Haynesworth I'll take a garbage can for him in a trade, at least we know a trash can will do its job!

gotcha! - he does know that we really can't make trades, doesn't he? - those are really done by the FO - we only give the FO advice

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Not because Orton is great, but because Haynesworth is Haynesworth. He won't be playing much for us even if he's on our roster this year, and no matter what he'll be a cancerous member of the locker room and practice field.
Orton is definitely an upgrade at QB. If Shanny likes Beck this gives him at least an extra year to evaluate and coach him. Orton's not a great player but he'll be at least as good as McNabb/Grossman was, and up until now I figured we'd get worse at QB this year.
So, provided we don't ship anything except one big, fat DT to Denver (i.e., no draft picks!) . . . I do this without hesitation.

I think the term locker room cancer is overused. I also think you used it dead on accurately. I don't know that he started that way, I think people knew what he was. But he crossed that line a while back.

I could see Albert in the B&G in 2011...
SHanny is just built that way, if he can't get what he want's in compensation for him now, then he'll keep him until he can.
It might even make Redskins fans happy, if he keeps him he will play him which would mean more 4-3 mixed in with that 3-4 that everyone hates.
FWIW- I think there will be quite player for player trades once the lockout ends.

I agree with you about the way Shanny is built. If he can't get what he wants for Albert, he is not dealing him. It will be interesting to see if Albert has to go visit Roger after the lockout is over. You don't have to be convicted in Roger's eyes to warrant some kind of suspension. Albert does have a pattern of incidents.
