After 3 Rounds

Round 1: Kerrigan OLB
Round 2: Jenkins NT
Round 3: Hankerson WR
In my mind this is a very solid group. All 3 will likely start on day 1.
Plus we now have 10 more picks; 1 in the 4th, 4 in the 5th, 1 in the 6th and 4 in the 7th.
Our HC and FO deserve kudos.
On the QB front, seems like Shanny might have something up his sleeve.

Love it as well! This is what I have been expecting of Shanahan. I expect in in a year or two we will be stock piling early round draft picks like NE.

Man, I would hope he just adds a ton of interior O-lineman and see what sticks. Then trade the entire house next year for Luck. Our defense looks to be pretty set if we add a NT like Jenkins.

It's obvious that Shanahan is putting a BIG emphasis on character and leadership. Here's quotes from all 3 scouting reports:
OLB Ryan Kerrigan
Exceptional intangibles. Person of high character. Outstanding work ethic on and off the field. Named 2010 team captain. Received team's Pit Bull Award (exemplified and sustained tenacity and intense play) during 2009 spring practices. Named team's MVP in 2009. Three-time Academic All Big Ten. Defensive Player of the Year and Big Ten Lineman of the Year in 2010.
DE Jarvis Jenkins
Team captain. No off-field issues or academic problems to our knowledge. Improving as a leader and is learning to trust his coaching more as he matures.
WR Leonard Hankerson
Great work ethic. Will pay the price. Matured during career at Miami. One of the most improved players on the team in 2009 and continue to improve in 2010 due to hard work. No off the field issues to our knowledge.
Kerrigan and Hankerson got rated 1 for intangibles which is the best score and Jenkins got a 2 which is above average. There is definitely a pattern.
I'd by lying if I said I wasn't disappointed that we didn't get a quarterback but these guys are safe picks who will play right away. They're the kind of players the Redskins never have. ROLE players. Usually the Skins have some combination of garbage and superstars. This time they have two solid OLBs, two solid DE's and a WR which was badly needed. These picks are low risk guys who show excellent character and work ethic, and work ethic is the great equalizer. A guy can have all the ability in the world but not the drive to maximize it. Like Tom Brady. Pretty mediocre prospect, but he was such a hard worker he became the best QB in the league and a multiple Super Bowl Champion.
Now, I still badly want a QB (no idea who, at this point) but we're on the right track. With so many late round picks, odds are good we get at least one guy who will play a major role for us.

Jenkins isn't a NT. Shanahan said that he will play DE.

Which means competition for Jarmon and Daniels if he's back.
Either they already like what we have at NT or somebody's still out there.

We have Kemo there at NT and Green as well who came on late in the year.

Kemo was a MAJOR free agent flop. Color me surprised if he even comes back.

He was coming off an injury that takes time to come back from though but I'd be surprised if hes worth keeping around. He's not that young but not 35 yet either.

I say we now spend 3 or 4 picks on offensive lineman, grab 1 or 2 RBs, 2 or 3 front seven guys defensively, and a WR and a DB. Also pick up a QB in the 7th round for the hell of it.
Atleast 2 or 3 of those guys will turn into something of value and another 3 or 4 will turn into decent depth. Looks like we were less worried about impact talent than we were trying to get depth and warm bodies.
I expect us to waste around 3 picks on FB/TEs/Ks/Ps who we'll never ever hear about again after draft day.

Man they better not draft TE's and FB's and Kickers. I bet they wont. Maybe a kicker because ours is *sh$t*.
I do hope they did their homework on these late round OL/DL and not just the WR/QB/RB like Shanahan is known for. I know the Skins have been limited on scouting so I hope that's not the case now. If you are trading down to get all these late picks at least know what you are drafting.

Did anyone pick Tyrod Taylor?

No, he is still available. Personally, I wouldn't mind grabbing him with our next pick.

Please no. That would be an absolute waste of a pick. He cannot play in the NFL. I watched a lot of his games and he makes terrible decisions. I'd rather they choose a PK and try to convert him to a QB than choose Tyrod Taylor as a QB.

Best available
I wouldn't mind:
Casey Matthews ILB Oregon --- that family just breeds intelligent football players
Clint Boling OG Georgia
Marcus Cannon OG TCU
Brandon Burton CB Utah
Jordan Todman RB UConn --- Sounds like a "Portis-type" RB, that is willing to get dirty and do some pass blocking..not big, but tough!
Christian Ballard DT Iowa
Ricky Stanzi QB Iowa
Gregory Salas WR Hawaii --- I know we got Hankerson, but Salas seems like another good steal in the late rounds, Santana might not be back.
An extremely tough and competitive player. Shows no fear or hesitation working the middle of the field. Will call for ball even when covered. Adequate blocker that can get into position and flashes the ability to sustain. Looks to throw blocks downfield. Fights for yards after catch and bounces off several would be tackles. Will chase and pursue with great effort off of INT.

WHAT A GOOD JOB - 10 picks to go
there is going to be a lot of younger players pushing for roster spots here this season - GOTTA love it
