In case you're too lazy, he basically said that he loved his time here. He plans on retiring a Redskin when his career is over and want's to live in the area after as well. He was very thankful to the fan's and coaches. Loves Buges and Gibbs and very thankful for all they did for him.

Shaking my head. It's not like this guy was Albert Haynesworth or Brandon Lloyd. Just didn't work in this scheme. SMH

I was impressed with his quotes. Regardless of what anyone thought of his play (which is up for debate), he was another class act. We've lost 2 good people in Dock and AC. I wish them both successful careers!

The guy is a pretty good guard in the right scheme. He'll be productive somewhere.

I have always been a fan of Dockerys. I personally think he got the short end of the stick in DC. After all, he did play behind Lichtensucker -- who may be one of the worst redskin OGs over the past 2 decades.

I never understood MS's decision to not start DD -- personally, I think it is evidence of MS's ego, but I am sure that many (wearing their burghandy & gold colored glasses) here will disagree with that.

DD is a good guy and I wish him luck in the future. He's got a few good years left in him, so I am sure we'll see him on the field come next season.

Personally, I think that he started Lichtensucker because at the time he thought he was better player and fit than DD. Then, when Lichensucker began playing horribly -- not making a change was a result of MS' ego.

I don't doubt that MS wants to win, it just appears at times that he ultimately only wants to win on his terms and is unwilling to change a view point once it has been made.

There was no shortage of film on Dock.
How is it that Shanahan was not able to evaluate the guy and get some trade value before last season even began?

What mystery is it that Mike's Offense is horizontal and his O-Line has to have lateral ability?

Mike's a solid coach but he still baffles me as a personnel/GM guy.
He has made mostly mistakes.

Dock will land somewhere and I'll be cheering for him there.

The Redskin offensive line has been a big problem the past few years - we need to begin again here and replace almost everyone from the 2009 unit


we need players that suit what we want to do - Shanahan knows what he needs from his linemen and I don't think Dockery was close to being able to contribute

So DD is too slow to plays in the ZBS and Mike Williams, who Shanahan re-signed to a 2 year deal before last season, isn't?

Dock was cut by the Bills. There was a reason. The Bills found out that Dock was an inconsistent player. Lacks the concentration to be a consistently high caliber guard. At times, he plays like an All-Pro at others he plays like he is thinking of something else. Shanny saw the the upside to Dock and that is why he didn't cut him.

I listened to Dock's interview last week. He admits that he didn't play up to speed at times. That interview was not the words of a hungry football player who will do whatever it takes to start, but I am not surprised, because I am a Texas Longhorn Fan and know Dock from his UT days. There is a reason Dock was a 3rd round pick and not a 1st and that reason lingered on into his pro career.

Two plays that stick out in my mind that tell the story of Dock's career. I saw him pancake Kris Jenkins in a Carolina pre-season game in 2005. He hit Jenkins from angle and totally flattened him. That is the road grader side of Dock. Against Dallas in 2006, on a 4th and 1 on Dallas goal line, Dock pulled and had a one-on-one block with a Dallas LB. Dock couldn't get his feet going and got stuffed by a no name Dallas LB on a crucial play. Portis failed to score. These plays fit the scouting report on Dock coming out of college.

Shanny doesn't just bench a player for no reason. Shanny looks for players with a strong work ethic and he looks for that ethic in practice. If he sees a smaller guy working his tail off in practice over the bigger guy. The smaller guy plays, period. He doesn't just abandon the big guy, he talks with him and shows him on film what is keeping him from starting.

Is this the best coaching philosophy? It is not mine, but it is Shanny's and lo and behold, he has managed to win two Super Bowls with it. Will he do it here? He is the coach so we will have to watch and see and with the contract he has - you can bet he gets at least 3 years to try.

About trading Dock - there is no way a team trades for an inconsistent guard with that contract.

Dock will catch on with another team, but with the right fit offense and appropriate contract for his level of play.

Name a player the Bills HAVEN'T cut.

The bottom line is that Dock plays well in a vertical offense and will hustle down the field.

Trying to gauge any player by his performance in DC is like trying to time an Olympic swimmer with bricks around his neck.

Whitner, Wrotto, Posluszny and Chandler to name a few that the Bills haven't cut. What horribly weak argument. Everyone knows that the Bills grossly overpaid for Dock and that we turned around and overpaid to get him to come back. Do your homework on the what the NFL folks say about Dock the starting guard. He is a average player with a good upside that was never reached.

Wow! Another great argument in defending Dock. That he is better than an undersized guard who is really a center. Like I said, I followed Dock's career as a Longhorn fan. I like Dock, but I have to call it like I saw it even before Shanahan called Dock out. Kory played good technique and played hard every play. Would I have started him over Dock? No, but I don't share the same coaching philosophy as Shanahan. I would have been running the ball more. By the way, the O line improved even with him in there despite your negative assessment of Kory.

Way to go with your Redskin bashing. Check your Redskins history. We went 25 years without a play-off before George Allen took over. This organization has endured rough times before and has rebounded. It will rebound again, but you sound as if you want this organization to fail so you can be right. Wow! What a true fan!

This organization has made steps to get better - restraint with free agency last year, restructured contracts to get Hayneswort and Hall off the books with their huge signing bonuses that this FO had no part in. Also, drafting O linemen ( 1 in the first and 2 in the later rounds who are still on the roster). Already have made a key free agency signing that did not break the bank. Sure there was a big mistake with Donovan McNabb, but most will say the mistake was not in acquiring him. The mistake was not adjusting the O to him - BUT still it was a glaring error and coaches actually make mistakes. I think almost every Redskin will admit that the jury is still out on Shanahan. There is not enough evidence to say that we are going in the wrong direction. The evidence clearly says that we have a long way to go and that positive steps in the FO decsions have been made. So KC, you can choose to look at all the negatives and rant and rave all you want about the organization sucks, but all you are doing is showing just what kind of fan you are. Just curious, were you one of fans, bashing Shanahan for letting go of Devin Thomas? Shanahan got that one wrong too, huh?

Oh I had to comeback and say something about the above quote of yours. My response - the NFL fans and players gauged that Orakpo, Fletcher, and Hall were not "swimming with bricks around their necks." Let's also, just forget while you are at it, that Landry was leading the votes for the Pro Bowl at safety when he got hurt.

Let's just take Hall and Fletcher an put them in Pittsburgh.
They would be even more if they played there.

I was happy enough to see him go there just because I thought he was going to make more money that he was worth as a Redskin.
I hated to lose him but his price was too high.

WCO's need 4 Tackles on the Line.
Dock's not one of those.
Take a couple years off of him and the Patriots would grab him up.

But that value is gone.
Derrick has 8 years in the League. He maybe has 2 left.
He's fill in, carry over, player like Pete Kendall was when he was with us.
He's only worth the investment to a team ready to take a vertical offense into a Super Bowl push
and one of those years is likely burned up with a Lock Out season.

Last year was the year to get value for him.
It's a little late now.
