The Ravens fired Zorn today as their qb coach.

After all the jokes sent the Redskins way to amuse Zorn (the fake punt in the pre-season game and there was another during the season) then he gets canned in worse fashion than the Skins canned him. Zorn definitely was no head coach, but he was supposed to be one of the best QB coaches. What was that word Clinton said he was supposed to be? G-E-N-I-U-S?

I feel bad for Zorn. It's been a very tough few years for him and his family, I'm sure.

Zorn seems like a good guy. Too bad.

Flacco seemed like he regressed this year, I don't know if it is Zorn, maybe Flacco hasn't had time to adjust to the Zorny techniques.

I'm sure Jim Zorn is still able to contibute but I doubt that he get's ANY consideration as a HC - give me a break

I am sorry for Zorn but it seems to me like he just could not handle things at all after he left Holmgren & the Seahawks - I haven't seen the offensive stats from the Ravens but i presume things were not that good

He really needs an OC job and not a QB or HC position next

I think that Zorn is too much of a control freak when it comes to QB's. I don't mean that to say that he doesn't know what he is doing. He does. I am saying that it is one thing for Zorn to have a QB come into a system he knows and then controls that QB (Hasselbeck said it took him awhile to accept what Zorn was telling him. Zorn had the backing of Holmgren). It is another for Zorn to go into another system and try to change things to his way. The situation here says it wasn't a good fit. Going to CLeveland and re-establishing his reputation as a good QB coach would seem to be a good option if he is to stay at he pro level. I think that he should seek a head coaching job at the 1-AA College level. I think that he would be a good fit there.

Wow! The firing of Zorn is heading to a big explosion with Flacco going on record that he is upset with the firing of Zorn.

Zorn coaches the QB's of a 13 win team and gets fired.

What is it about Zorn that he keeps getting in these strange situations that seem like a good idea at the time but end up blowing up in his face?
Does any one remember during the 1987 strike season, he came out of retirement and crossed the picket line to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? On the one hand he did the noble thing and not suit up for the for his beloved Seahawks and ruin relationships he had with the team, but on the other hand he CROSSED THE PICKET LINE ultimately being one of the beloved scabs who broke their strike. Jim can't win for losing.

That's a strange way to put it. Why not just say he led the Skins to a 2-6 record? I mean, as long as we're being arbitrary with eight-game seasons and claiming that QB coaches lead teams to certain W-L records . . .

Good point. I should have said that he started out as 6-2 as head coach and things were looking great and then it imploded 6- 18 the rest of the way.

Gets hired as Raven's QB coach, his strength. Team wins 13 games. Starting QB improves (the articles says so). Things are looking good, right? He gets fired.

If you go back to his days as QB coach in Seattle. His reputation was he was a very good QB coach, but at the time he was hired as DC for the Skins, his services as QB coach were no longer wanted in Seattle - no explanation given.

He gets hired as DC and is quickly given the job as HC - a coaches dream, right ? Then it turns into a nightmare and might have ruined any chance that he will ever get a chance to be that NFL DC.

I think that most people like Jim Zorn. I have followed his career since his playing days at Seattle. Oh btw, do you guys know that he made the Dallas Cowboy squad as a QB coming out of nowhere only to be cut after the final cuts were made. Again, another good then bad - fits the Zorn pattern. His whole career seems to be good happens then bad follows. I am sure Jim doesn't feel sorry for himself because most people don't get the opportunities that he has had, but why do strange things keep happening to a nice guy like Jim? Is there something in his personality that he brings things on himself? I think his decision to play for the Bucs during the 1987 strike season says a lot about Jim's personality. He is an honest, well intentioned guy that means well, but his quirkiness in the long run rubs some people raw.
