10. Redskins -- Cam Newton*, QB, Auburn
Mike Shanahan loves mobile quarterbacks, like John Elway, Jake Plummer and Donovan McNabb. He also loves QBs with big arms like Elway, McNabb and Jay Cutler. Newton is both. And we think Daniel Snyder can get over the character questions. The big question about Newton is how he'll fare away from a spread offense. If Tim Tebow can go in the first round, Newton will too.
McNugget? He loves QBs like McNugget? I thinks NOT. Plus I hate the use of the word "mobile". When you say "mobile" I'm thinking of Steve Young and Mike Vick, not the others named. IMO anyways.

My only caveat to drafting Cam Newton is keeping his "Jesus Saves For A Fee" father the hell away from Redskins Park.

I wonder how much we'd have to pay Cam's father to draft him????

That was the first thing I noticed, too, lpj. Maybe they meant he likes the
idea of McNabb.

THAT would make me do cartwheels down the street. I would LOVE to see Cam Newton in Burgundy and Gold. Preferably after a season of sitting on the bench and learning from the Shanahans and Grossman, but we can deal with that AFTER we've gotten him.

It would be funny that we would draft our next first-round QB out of Auburn.

Have you got a better, REALISTIC option?

I'm not sure why you are asking.

Mostly because I'd like to hear what your alternative is, if Newton is there at #10. If he's there should we draft him, or because our last QB from Auburn was a total bust, should we ignore all future Auburn QB's? If so, do we also ignore all Tulane, and Tennessee QB's in the future as well?

Did I say I had an alternative? Did I say I would not be happy if we drafted Cam? Did I say anything negative about Auburn or the SEC in general? Where is this coming from?

Maybe I read more into the tone of your comment, but I don't see anything "funny" about anything in sports. Sports are way too serious of an exercise to ever allow humor, pleasure, or fun to be part of them so far as I'm concerned.

Well, "funny" can also mean odd or weird.

To me sports are as serious as a heart attack. Always have been and always will be.

Then you need to heed that advice more than most, don't you?

I've been ignoring that advice for thirty years already so I'm not sure what would make you think I would change my tune now.

Then have a heart attack because all of the decisions made are by people whose lives you have no effect upon, and their decisions have no direct effect upon yours. Sports are entertainment. Entertainment isn't intended to be taken seriously. It is, in fact, intended to be a break from what should be taken seriously. I'd be stunned if anyone believed the content of these posts.

Shanahan isn't going to draft a 2-3 year project qb. We don't have that luxury. He is far more likely to go after more NFL-ready qb's like Mallet and Locker.

Because you've been ignoring it for thirty years. Where has that gotten you?

Yes. It would be funny. It would also be coincidental as opposed to ironic. I would hope we would draft him if he were available. His upside is truly ridiculous - and I don't mean that humorously... and someone might need to lighten up a hair. Good lord!

I'm not the sort of person who changes my viewpoints or opinions very easily. Never have been and I don't see that changing. I'll go right on ignoring that advice for another thirty years.
Taking sports as seriously as I do has never gotten me anywhere. Nor has it ever kept me from getting anywhere.

I'll have plenty of time to lighten up when I'm dead. Until then I'll continue to be as serious as Cancer, especially when it comes to the important things in life, like SPORTS.

From the famous "I'm done" thread:
Redskins_Fanatic wrote:I spent the night after the Houston loss in my car because I was so pissed off that I picked a fight with my roommate. I got locked out of the apartment for the night and am no longer allowed to watch ANY sports in the apartment.
Just one more lie from the fanatic.
