2010 Hognostications Final Results

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Hoss, I believe that you've got the results for one of the games incorrect. If the above result is correct than I went 10-6 for a season total of 157-99. I check the final tallies of a couple others and they all seemed off by 1 as well. For example, Trey went 9-7 for a season total of 159-97 (this is the only reasons I noticed it . He only beat me by 2 picks darn it!!!!!) and SAP Pete went 7-9 for a total of 156-100.

At any rate, I checked a couple of others and they seemed off by one as well. I not sure it matters one way or the other, but it may affect the playoff seeds. If I'm wrong, than sorry, it's probably because I'm sober. Thanks for all your work this season!!

Two good points out of a losing effort:

1. I am NOT lower than REDEEMED. It was pretty scarry for a long while until he went back to auto-inflicted destruction mode.

2. I am happy to have tried but failed to go for the top job. It would have been nice to tie Countetrey in third with that Atlante pick. He was relentkess in his chase and in the end, I had to decide whether to try for first or deefend my second place.

Good job by everyone. The stats from the top places are better than those of the ESPN Picks guys and many other "professionals".

Thanks Hoss :hail: and congrats Kaz. :celebrate:

RiC, you played it exactly as I knew you would... to win... Unfortunately, Kaz' lead was such that you needed a massive load of upsets to win... he just had to play it straight.

Good call... the right call.

Congrats, Kaz and JH.

And, of course, the truth holds... picking against the 'skins never results in Hognostication victory.

Of course, this means we now know the seeding for the Hognostication Playoffs:

HHC:
1. KazooSkinsFan Bye
2. RiC Bye
3. DesertSkin
4. Deadskins
5. TeeterSalad WC
6. Hoss WC

DHC:
1. Justice Hog Bye
2. Countertrey Bye
3. SAP_Pete
4. REDEEMEDSKIN
5. ChrisHanburger WC
6. SkinsJock WC

Man, after the 11th seed, the records really dropped off. SkinsJock must play in the DHC West. :P

I'll do up a seperate thread sometime later. but for now the #6 seeds are playing at the #3s, and the #5s are at the #4s. Visiting seeds have to get their picks in first, and every player needs to give a total score for the weekend (that's all four games combined), so start your game planning. Visiting picks will be due by Thursday, 9:00 PM EST.

I'm going to pass on the playoffs. I'll accept a position as the off color commentator though...

Jeez, what is this, an epidemic? How is this any different, in an unsportsmanlike way, than picking against the Skins during the regular season? Winning the top seed and then not playing in the playoffs is a slap in the face to the rest of us.

I don't want to whine and I'm not entitled to whine, but I'm going to anyway. I was in three pools this year. Won the Hognostications. Went to week 15 in my survivor pool and was in the final 10 of 130+ people. And my regular pool picking against points (yes, I mentioned this) I was in a 4 way tie for the win. Again 130+ people. We split the top 4 pots, I won $1,375.

I slept with the devil. Worse, I rooted for the Cowboys and Eagles. My only shred of dignity was picking the Skins every week, and they came through actually doing well against the spread this year. Yes, I pick them in my other pools too. I really just want to watch football and not think about how it affects my picks. If you guys put me in, I'll play. But I'm not going to pick against anyone I want to win unless my opponent does because I don't want to root for anyone I don't want to win or even be split. The person I'm against may like that, but it's not fair to anyone else in the playoffs. Next year (if there is a season) I'll be ready for serious Hognosticating, but I'm drained.

Oh no Kaz, not you. I can disagree on about anything else but you are not the type. Come on down and defend your title.

You really do not want to be the FIRST winner to chicken out of the playoffs, really man. It would be a no no.

OK, OK. I give up and I'll play. I really didn't mean to be difficult. The last three weeks were great but so draining. I'll pick and not pay attention until Monday.

as I said in the other thread - I will play - I did not mean to be offensive about it

I was mainly just pissed that the "real" part of the season was over

I'm looking forward to it and will have my picks in on time

for the record - I was considering pulling a "Deadskins" AND claiming more wins and so would have finished further up the final standings - this is where you change the way the game is played if you can't win by following the rules - he's never gotten over the FACT that I won the contest in 2008

I would love to trash him again in this made for fun contest - we shall see
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Yeah, but football playoffs are a culmination of what a team accomplished all season and it's a full game. A full week for us was picking 14-16 games. A playoff game is picking max four. That's why in the end my best analogy is that it's like a basketball tournament where each game is just a five minute overtime. I have no objection to anyone doing it, but I think any comparison to the Hognostication regular season or to NFL playoffs, which is a a full game, are faulty. If I win the playoffs, I'll say exactly the same thing.
