And I thought that Cerrato was gone. What a stupid contract.

Does it really matter? So we have a Vet backup who is a HOF QB and known as one of the best teachers in the game. If we're going to spend money, this guys I don't mind spending it on.

I'm glad he will be back. And I agree with Frank, there is nothing wrong with having him as a veteran backup if we find our future QB before the 5 years are up, which I think we will.

Think about drafting a QB this draft, having him learn under McNabb for a season or two. By the time our line is fixed and the offense is set, we'll be ready to go. See Green Bay and Aaron Rogers.

Redskins agreed to terms with QB Donovan McNabb on a five-year, $78 million extension through 2015.

The Skins got serious, giving McNabb a whopping $40M guaranteed with the potential to earn $10M more in incentives. It'll be a featured story on Monday Night Football, with the news strategically breaking hours before game time. It's still a pretty big shocker, and not just because Mike Shanahan pulled McNabb for a two-minute drill two weeks ago. The 34-year-old is on pace for his fewest touchdown passes since 1999, has more picks than scores, and so far has posted his lowest completion rate since 2006 while allegedly being slow to pick up Shanahan's offense. It's not just odd timing. McNabb hasn't earned it.

One of the best teachers in the game? The same McNabb that pouted when the Eagles drafted Kolb?

There was no reason, especially with a work stoppage looming, to sign a soon-to-be 34-year old qb that is on pace for his worst season since his rookie year to a deal of this magnitude. $40 million guaranteed for McNabb at this point in his career is a complete joke.

That's $8M/yr guaranteed. I can't believe someone actually thinks this is a good deal. He'll be 39 when he's done if there's no voidable years.

I guarantee that this is a "3 year deal." Bruce Allen has been known as a genius when it comes to contracts, being that he's a former agent. I am sure that all the big money is in the back load of the contract, he will be gone before that. We have a 3 year window with McNabb.

Boy o boy that seems like a lot of cash.

I just asked my boss to suspend me for being fat and stupid. I told him that i would come back on Friday for my financial apology. McNabb netted $10 mil extra from the Eagles for benching him and $40 mil from the Skins. I would take $50 bucks from my boss.

 I'm not seeing anything on the structure. But AH's "$100 mil" contract is actually $42 mil. If it's really the $40 mil guaranteed for 5 years it's a great deal. McNabb is perfect for our situation.

As for all you who kept arguing he's a pouting baby who'll never re-sign with us now, ha ha...

So far I haven't heard anything about frontloaded or anything...but if it's a 3 year deal, that's $13M+/yr for a QB that's taken us .500 so far. I'm not happy with this currently. Please, someone show me (with more than , "I feel" or "I think") how I'm not seeing the silver lining here.

Does he have the "cardiovascular endurance" to run to the bank?

Just in, en route to make a large deposit, McNabb collapsed 2 minutes away from Bank of America. Rex Grossman carried the check the rest of the way.

This contract is not a straight deal. Lets look at the structure and then judge it.

Also, I would be shocked if there is a work stoppage. Its not any good for anyone.

I doubt it's a "we think he'll be our QB for 5 more years" contract.

Three is probably more like it.

But it's another head-scratcher from an organization that swore it was changing it's ways.

This don't fit with that.

Correction... Grossman was immediately run over by a semi called Suh, who carried the cash to TD Bank...

With $40M guaranteed, it's still $13M+ for 3 years. It's still a lot of money GUARANTEED for a 34 (later this month) QB.

I think this is probably a lie. And they haven't really signed him because the Offensive Coordinator is the coach's son.

Beats the crap out of signing a new stop-gap veteran QB for more draft picks. I couldn't care less how many millions DS spends.

The terms of this contract have to bear out somewhere close to your suggestion, cause if its "really" $78mm, that's banana's. I like DM, but not that much. Given Bruce's contract history, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt before the details come in.

I for one am glad this happened.. I think the timing is just perfect. After all the drama from the Detroit game I hope this buries the political hatchet and moves the team and cohesions of player and coach(s) forward. I think this happened at a pivotal time to a. Insure Dmac knows the team front office believes in him b. Sounds off that he is THE guy and c. Builds confidence in Dmac knowing this is his team for years to come and his paycheck will be there. Ill take a happy and confident Dmac on the most important game of the year anyway I can. As was pointed out who cares how much of DSnyder s money he gets. I just want everyone happy and ready to play lights out.
Punch an Eagles fan on da face!
