Dallas Cowboys forget to renew domain name, DallasCowboys.com goes down as Wade Phillips is fired
When it rains, it pours for the Dallas Cowboys.
They're 1-7 this season, on pace for their worst seasons since 1989, when they went 1-15. They were thoroughly embarassed on national television by the Green Bay Packers, 45-7, Sunday night. Owner Jerry Jones fired a head coach during the season for the first time when he sent Wade Phillips packing on Monday, promoting offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to fill the position on an interim basis.
The icing on the cake? In the middle of all this, the team's official website DallasCowboys.com went down Sunday night after the team allegedly failed to renew the domain name, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Fans looking for news on the Cowboys' coaching situation instead found a picture of two children playing soccer on a page stating the domain was up for sale.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Jerry Jones Jr., the owner's son, executive vice president and head of marketing for the team is the contact listed for the website in public databases.
The team quickly renewed the domain, but it can take up to two days for the registration to process on all servers. As of Tuesday, the site is back up.
