Does anyone know how these are determined? I know teams get them for losing their free agents. But how does the NFL base who gets what pick? I have seen teams get as high as 3rd rounders, and as low as 7th. Is it talent, salary, what?

We do have a good number of important free agents tis year. Assuming of course we dont resign them at the end of the yr, does anyone have an educated guess what they would be worth?

Im throwing these out there. Im assuming Rogers might get a hefty contract somewhere because he might be the best cover corner available, even though we all know he cant catch. And again this is ASSUMING we dont resign them

C Rogers - 3rd rounder maybe?
R McIntosh - 4th rounder?
D. McNabb - 4th rounder?
L. Brown - 6th rounder?

I think that it depends on how much they play and at what level the following season. It also depends on what you get back in as their replacements.

Its complicated and no one knows exactly the formula used... like the BCS. I'm sure someone can look it up (and probably will on this site), but until the NFL comes out with their decisions, I doubt anyone will really figure it out.

That said, its about net gain or net loss in the value of players, not about individual players, although I think the NFL tries to match the number of picks with the number of net players lost. This coming draft though, we'll get picks based on who we lost last offseason and who we signed.

Also keep in mind the crazy formula used, takes into account FA losses and players we signed who left their previous team at the end of a contract... not released players or traded players. The eagles won't get any compensation for trading For example, McNabb from the NFL, they got our pick for him. If McNabb leaves us at the end of his contract, we will get compensated. If McNabb leaves us and becomes a pro bowler again, we may even get back similar value to what we gave up for him!
