Can't Win Without Him?

Donovan McNabb has been quoted as saying that the Redskins can't win without Haynesworth. Does anyone know if this is a joke or not? If true, I find that insulting from our starting quarterback.

Living in Philly for almost a decade I have come to know that McNabb says really stupid stuff all the time. You can't tell if he means it, is joking, or trying to be a leader or one of the guys. He is kind of a sheltered moma's boy geek.

Not a joke. I think it was meant as an olive branch from the leader of the team to let the AH know they support him and he is important to the team.
Do I think #5 would probably rephrase it now? Possibly. Do I think he actually meant the team can't win without the AH? Of course not!

He meant it when he said it. Then he went down the hallway chasing a dog with a fluffy tail...

Hmmmm, I think we're going to have to get used to this kind of stuff coming from Mcnabb. I think he means well, but should probably think one more step ahead when addressing a volatile issue like this.

LOL, people clamor for a leader at the QB... The dude is trying to mend fences, get this dude on board and yet more complaining from the gallery.

True. This is McNabb working to smoothe Haynesworth a path back in. It's one of the things that I admire about him as a leader... he understands that he is in a unique position to influence the malcontent in a positive way. Good call. I think he understands that the message may have been exaggerated... but I think the effort is likely to help much more than it hurts.

I heard the interview. He was saying it moreso to make the point that the players on the team want him on the field, and he believes the team can't win unless everyone is on board including Haynesworth. More of a leave no comrade behind kind of statement than a legit comment that the team cannot win without him.
Media blowing it out of proportion in DC as usual.

That's what I got out of it when I heard it, 106.7 heard it and ran with it.

Agreed, Dukes and Lavar r awful at sports talk, they win by default because the other guys suck even worse (Sorry a little off topic, I just wanted to say that)

Member when DM used his fingers as quotations like ah kinda makin fun? I think he has a good sense of humor and doesn't let the media or controversies effect his attitude. Does he want ah to play probably. Does he think they can w out him? Definitely. I think it was an attempt to mend bridges and get ah to quit pouting like a sissy and do what the coach says and like every other team mate give his all.. I also think he has a twisted sense of humor and was making a funny joke at the same time

My first reaction was Donavan McNabb is a good used car salesman. The team's "leaked sources" started praising Albert Haynesworth yesterday for his work and transition to the 3-4. The day before they said he was horrible etc. What changed? An interest by another team for a trade. If you want to get the most in a trade, you have to talk up the merchandise.

McNabb was doing what a quarterback is supposed to do....act as a leader and try to bring the team together.
It's not like he was all that wrong either, though. Without a motivated Big Al we are going to have problems on the defensive line.

I'm sorry but that is just a really funny image to me - that is a classic come back
c'mon guys - this deal with Haynesworth is not at all close to what is being portrayed - he's a scab but this will work itself out

From the way you describe it, it could be a challenge to both sides. MS to play him and AH to play (for real). I can't believe McNabb would think the AH we've seen so far is critical to win...
