I'm really tired of the skins taking guys and moving them from position to position, e.g., Landry, Jason Taylor, Carter, OL. The NFL is so competitive that when you do things like that you lose. Moving someone in college is one thing but moving them when they're entering the NFL rarely works.

Just watched the video on Redskins.com about Jarmon -- he is up to 295! Wow. That is fantastic. I was worried they were going to make him lose weight and play linebacker and have to learn how to cover backs and tight ends. Jarmon will be good. I was impressed with him in College and the little bit he played for us, before getting hurt. It is really nice to know we have a young DE to grow. Most of our other DEs are older, other than Adam C.

I was also hoping Rob Jackson would also bulk up and be a solid b-up for us at DE, again, more youth. DL is one position where we have some good players but age is an issue.

I'm wondering if Alexandar and Wilson can really play outside linebacker. Yeah, they can rush but can they cover a speedy back or tight end? I wouldn't want to rely on that, especially in a tight gameI also wonder if Haslett will try to play either Doughty or Horton at free safety. Not sure they can do that. Right now, our safeties probably should be Moore and Landry.

OLB's in 3-4 systems are almost never asked to cover.

They do play coverage a lot just not a lot of man coverage. OLB's in most 3-4's play a lot of run zone. While we dont really know what hasletts defense is going to look like cause it sounds as if its going to be a 3-4 4-3 hybridish defense mixing a lot of different packages.

Wilson played LB last year in the 4-3 and was in coverage sometimes.

Don't think that Wilson, Carter, or Lorenzo will be in much man coverage this year but could be wrong.

It does sound like they'll go to a four man line in obvious passing situation. So 3-4 on first down to defend the run, then a mix on second depending on distance, then a 4 man line on third down.

It will probably be the opposite. The 4-3 is stronger against the run and the 3-4 is better vs the pass because the offense won't know where the rush is coming from... like in D. LeBeau's scheme in Pittsburgh. the 3-4 also offers more options in coverage because there is an extra athletic player standing upright at the snap. The options for blitzing and coverage are combined by the best defensive minded coaches into zone blitzes out of the 3-4. With the 4-3 by contrast, you have more big bodies at the point of attack, with an extra DT, on runs making it easier to stuff them at the line of scrimmage.

I think even with moving people around they'll have plenty of options as our depth chart will be pretty deep. So I think in most situations we'll have players come in suited to perform for that moment.
