The New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan hears there "might be some legs" to a potential trade of unsigned restricted free agent LT Jammal Brown to the Redskins.

Brown has been on the trading block for over two months, and the Redskins were reported to be interested in the week leading up to the draft. The Saints don't want to commit long-term to a player who missed all of last season with injuries, and Brown wants out of New Orleans. Washington is a good fit, with Artis Hicks potentially moving inside to address the hole at right guard

Updating a previous item, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports the Saints and Redskins have agreed on a trade for unsigned restricted free agent LT Jammal Brown.

A source has told me the Redskins have agreed on a trade for Jammal Brown. Still trying to confirm compensation.

WOW, well if he's healthy, that's a huge upgrade for our O-Line. Artic Hicks can play his normal RG position and we have Heyer as a back-up now. I like the move...still waiting to see what the compensation is.

May be we traded Fat Albert to them!?!?

Duncan is still tracking down the Saints' compensation, and Brown will have to sign his tender before deal goes through. A Pro Bowler as recently as 2008, Brown should immediately upgrade a shaky Redskins offensive line as long as he checks out phyiscally.
Brown will presumably stay on the blind side, as rookie Trent Williams was also considered ideally suited to the right side in college. Artis Hicks will move inside to right guard, upgrading a second position up front. It's great news for Donovan McNabb's fantasy value.

Where is everyone? This is huge news for our O-Line and offense...if he is healthy, it automatically produces 1-2 more wins for our team. More time for McNabb to throw, the more points we will score.

He's 29, he was a Pro-Bowler in 2008, he played at Oklahoma in college, so he should be able to make quick friends with Malcolm and Trent. I see no downside, as long as, he's healthy!

Landing Jammal Brown from N.O. would allow Washington to play him at left tackle with first-round pick Trent Williams at right tackle.

Washington is trying to finalize a trade for Saints OT Jammal Brown. The trade is not believed to involve disgruntled DT Albert Haynesworth.

Well, Fat Albert is still with us.

Man... I wonder what we gave up if this is true.

*If* he's healthy. Word was last year the Saints weren't willing to offer Brown a long-term deal because of concerns about his knees and were looking to deal him last year as a result.

Either the Saints' price came way down or this doesn't say much for Williams thus far.

The Redskins have worked out a deal with the Saints for left tackle Jammal Brown. Brown has signed his tender and is now talk with the Skins about a long term deal

Anything to improve the o-line like this I am in favor of. I just wish we could have sent Al down there instead of picks.

As long as we can trade Albert and recoup close to what we give up for him I'd be pleased.

Like, we give up a 2nd rounder for Brown and we get a 3rd rounder from a bad team -- e.g., Seahawks, Raiders. The difference could be 15 spots in the draft.

After Saturday's trade for Brown, Washington will be without its third- and fourth-round picks in 2011, but it also will be getting back a later pick from New Orleans, according to a league source.

Washington owes the Eagles a third- or fourth-round pick in 2011 for McNabb, based on how the quarterback plays or the team performs. If the Redskins win nine games, or go to the playoffs, or McNabb gets selected to the Pro Bowl, then Philadelphia will receive Washington's third-round pick and New Orleans will get Washington's fourth. If none of those happen, then the Eagles will get the Redskins' fourth-round pick and the Saints will get the Redskins' third-round pick.

If the Saints recieve Washington's fourth-round pick, then the Redskins will get a sixth- or seventh-round pick back from the Saints. However, if Washington's fourth-round pick goes to Philadelphia, then the Redskins get fifth-round pick from New Orleans.

There is also a conditional 2012 sixth-round pick involved. Should Brown play 90 percent of the plays next season or get voted to the Pro Bowl, then Washington will send its 2012 sixth-round pick to New Orleans. After Saturday's trade, Washington has six picks left in the 2011 draft.

Either a 3rd or 4th round pick to the Saints depending on McNabb's performance. We fenagled the trade such that we get an additional late round pick in the event that McNabb doesn't lead us to 9 or more wins etc.

I hope this also calms down some of the nerves with Shanahan's approach to the O Line. We now have a proven Pro Bowl Left Tackle who has played Right Tackle and who is under 30 in Jamaal Brown. On the otherside, we now have what our coaches believe could be a franchise Left Tackle in Williams. Nevertheless, if that doesn't work out, we have the flexibility to switch those guys out, or have Hicks and Mike Williams compete at Right Guard.

We have made significant strides in one offseason. I am very happy with this move.

I too am pleased with the positioning of the front office. We have made great strides in one offseason and set ourselves up pretty good to continue building into next offseason.

Does anyone else see our O-Line as a strength now? If Brown is healthy and Trent can pick up the offense well, we are looking at a solid O-Line.

I think it will end up with Brown and Williams at opposite sides from how you have them listed.

Brown is a PB LT
Williams is a rookie who had most of his college success at RT!

yep.......i think this is by far the best addition to the team thus far this year....including the mcnabb deal.....this move really strengthens our line....

Kemoeatu is the other addition thats going to make a big impact.........dudes huge and with albert haynesworth being a bust if this dude can start 14-16 games its going to really help.
