Rocky demanding a trade?

Per ESPN:

This has been an offseason of big changes for the Washington Redskins. New GM, new coach, new defense, new QB, two new former Pro Bowlers in the backfield. The next week could maintain that sense of change, as there are now at least three potential trades lurking leading up to the draft on Thursday. We've already digested the rumors related to Albert Haynesworth and Jason Campbell, but can now add OLB Rocky McIntosh to the rumor mill as well.

Jason Reid of the Washington Post reported that while McIntosh would not officially confirm that he has demanded a trade, his answer to the trade-oriented query tells us everything we need to know. "Ah, that's between me and them," he said, when asked about the trade demand. "I'm going to keep that private. You can probably answer that better than I can. Let's just say I hope the situation will be resolved soon." In order for a trade to be processed, McIntosh will have to sign his one-year, $1.759 million RFA tender.

As far as where he might end up, Ross Tucker of Sports Illustrated listed the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and St. Louis Rams as possibilities, with a fifth- to sixth-round pick as the price tag.

Why would we lot him go to the G-strings or the Smeagols? We're not that stupid, and he's not McNabb.

They should have shipped him in the Carriker trade and took the Rams 5th rd pick.. We need a LB to replace him so send him to Oakland for Kirk Morrison, he is not happy there, plus Oak will over compensate us with a 3rd pick

What they should do is extend his contract. He is very solid and underrated.

Keep him. They won't get what he's worth.

This is a very light year in terms of trade value for players. I would extend him and then look at trading him later if he doesn't work out in the 3/4. I think that the Lions could be in play as well since they just got rid of a LB and are in need of a guy who is a sure tackler and good against the run.

The Lions are looking for a specific type of linebacker, and Rocky's not it. They want a monster Mike, with the strength to blow up plays, a Ray Lewis type. If they wanted Rocky, they'd have kept what they had.

Rocky deserves an extension, but sometimes you have to play your way into one rather than complaining.

It's a gamble, but if he goes out and has a monster year, he will get an extension either here of somewhere else. But, I doubt he's breaking the bank even if we trade him.

Bring your arse to camp Rocky - you're only hurting yourself.

Wait Hogster - so having a pretty good year doesn't deserve an extension? I'm saying pretty good as I feel he's an above average LB.

Countertrey - I don't think that they're going to find a Ray Lewis type of player this year or next. There's not many out there and most teams are also looking for that guy. Best of luck to them.

Not when the new regime coming in is installing a defense that he may or may not even excel in. I feel for Rocky. But, it was no secret that the CBA would likely not be extended and this year would be uncapped. The players and agents knew what would happen to players like Rocky, Carlos and Campbell. Knowing that, Rocky had to play at a very very high level to ensure that he'd get extended here. That may not be fair, but he didn't perform to that level.

He's a pro and a good player, but I can see why the new staff wants him to prove it on the field this year for them.

I think that the reason why he hasn't received a new contract is more to do with the fact that there is a lot more going on at Redskins Park than giving a player who's currently under contract, a new deal. It doesn't mean it won't happen but I think that if it is, it'll happen in a bit.

Good point. Hopefully you're right, and its not something like a medical issue or some other concern of theirs. I think Rocky is a good player who is getting better. Definitely need his coverage skills.

I'm sure also they think that even though he's not a perfect fit for this defense, he can play in it. I think that they are willing to use him a trade scenario if they need to during the draft. If he were to be signed before, his guaranteed money would be due and Snydee is tired of writing big checks.

The next 72 hours are going to be a lot of fun.

It would be stupid to trade him within the division & more stupid to let him go for a 5th or 6th rnd pick.

man oh man - you'd only be happy if everyone on the field was from the U

thankfully Shanahan & Allen want to put a team together and if it had nobody from that college in Miami I would be happy - at least the guys involved would not ALL act like spoiled brats

Who is Rocky Macintosh and why does he think he should get big money?

He's a bitter little wench. He decided he was screwed because the collective bargaining agreement is iron clad binding on management but only a suggestion to players to follow if they feel like it, and he doesn't. Screw him. We should just let him sit until he develops some integrity.

You can't develop integrity, you either have it or you don't!

How is he not following the collective bargaining agreement? He has done NOTHING to violate either the collective bargaining agreement or his contract.

8-[ Thanks for the lookout on that one...

I never had any issue with Rocky before. I just have zero respect for his view that players shouldn't be held to deals they struck with ownership w/o any indication that ownership shouldn't have to honor their deals either.

This, Rocky, is for you and my heartbreak you need to work for minimum wage this year, unable to feed your family. And there are lyrics I wrote as well, "oh wow is Rocky, how sad is his tale..." :-({|=

8-[ I did it again, didn't I?
