According to multiple reports, the Redskins have been and continue to be "actively attempting to trade Albert Haynesworth." If this is true, what would you all propose we trade him for??

Here are my thoughts "Today." I think that if Albert's contract wasn't so disgusting, we could get a 1st. When I look back to Big Al, I think of him laying on the ground against NO, I think, where it looked like he blew his ankle out in the last two minutes. They were out of time outs, out of breath and our D was holding them. When he went down, they basically got a time out, caught their breath and went down and scored. Of course, two plays later, fatty was out there playing like nothing was wrong. Either he's one tough motha or big a$$ baby. I think it's the latter. I don't think that Hasslett or Shanny put's up with those type of guys.

I think that he was also a bit of a lockerroom cancer as well and with a coaching staff looking to change the face of the franchise, he's the exact type of player to go.

Now - what is he worth. Well, WHEN he's on the field, he's a stud. He creates havoc in the middle of the line and we saw what he brings to the table and the opportunities that he will bring for our Defensive Ends. I think that given the fact that we've paid him essentially, we should be able to bear a 2nd round pick. I don't think we'll get a 1st only because no one is giving up firsts - and I don't think he's worth that. In all honesty, I could see us getting a 3rd and a player (lineman or 3/4 experienced IBL). But who knows. Maybe this is all smoke by Shanny and that with us paying him that huge amount of money, he's trust trying to say, anyone can be trade bait. We'll see in the next few weeks before the trade.

I don't think it's Haynesworth's contract that's keeping teams from offering a #1 for him; certainly his physical fitness and age will now play a part. With another injury-plagued season under his belt, and at 29 years old, he's just not going to command top dollar anymore because he's not at his prime anymore.

A team that trades for him needs to be aware of the fact that he may only play 2-3 more seasons before having to quit. He's still effective, but not a player to build around for the future. Haynesworth was fortunate to have entered the FA market at the absolute peak of his prime years. The Redskins wanted him so bad that they paid the top dollar such players can demand.

I wouldn't take anything away from his performance here — he was very good for us — but the Redskins got the worse end of this deal. If we can get a #2 for him and simply get rid of his contract, we would be very fortunate IMO.

I think the mere fact that we are trying to trade him after only one year is proof beyond doubt that our 'owner' is a complete oaf and the signing of Haynesworth was a mistake.

Its like going out and buying a humvee, then having to sell it because it wont fit in the garage.

I want to keep him. He's sick when he's on the field and he makes everyone around him better (hello Andre Carter!). These 'men' need to let their nuts drop and work past this diva BS we have now.

I agree Vet and I would like to see him stay as he is a force and he does make the other players around him better BUT the guys in charge here are going to most likely move him because in the long run that will help the team more

How sick would it be if the Lions or the Bucs wanted ..... NO! it couldn't happen, could it

If he does go, I want him to go to the Lions. I really really like Stafford and I hope that the Lions and Stafford find success soon. Stafford's leadership he showed as a rook kocked my socks off. If they shore up that defense with a little oline help, they can be good, b/c they're offense is solid.

After the $21 million we just paid him, it's now a 3 year deal for $16 million. That's not disgusting at all.
I wouldn't trade him for just picks, though. I would want at least an above average offensive tackle plus a pick, probably in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I picked "other player"... Brandon Marshall ..and Fat Al would help out Dumervil *sp* with the Broncos. They remind me of the Titans Def which Fat Al excelled in. What you think?

I personally don't want Marshall. He's had problems left and right and I think if there are other violations (legal, etc) he could get a one year suspension. But I may be wrong.

AND - why do we need him?

we need to get this offensive line UPGRADED

His contract now essentially stands at 3 years $16 million, so why would we want to get rid of him for that reason?

just sayin if fat al WAS to leave, i'd be happy with getting b marsh.. why do we need him? maybe we don't but SJ picture this--> Thomas/Moss/Marshall/Davis/Cooley.. and McNabb throwing to them.. man can you just imagine that? Who do you double in that case? yea i know he has issues and i called him a baby but with all the vets on this roster i'd bet he straightens up something good and proper. plus he didn't act that way for shanahan, him and the young coach collided (not excusing his antics, honestly). that way SJ we'd have real good hands on the offense and still keep our draft picks for the OL... makes sense right? B marsh, give up the headache that may (or may not) become fat albert and here's the best part.. not cost a pick at all.

Dag, who do I need to call to make this happen?

I didn't realize the numbers were now that low.

That's what they said on 980 last night, but you never know with them. I think that the $21 million bonus, which we paid last week, is what makes it so low now.

True. Also a lot of the reported $100m was never guaranteed and doesn't count on the cap. We're doing a great job this year undoing what we did to circumvent the cap the last few years.

I'm not good at this sort of thing but I find it hard to believe we would give a guy a $21 million payout so that we could then trade him
we are more than likely keeping this guy UNLESS someone wants to make an offer we cannot refuse

Haynesworth is hopefully getting ready to play some effective football in B&G

Haynesworth was extremely valuable to us last year and will continue to be if not traded. I remind everyone that Carter and Orakpo had eleven sacks each. That didn't happen by chance.

Half the time Albert wasn't on the field for those. Orakpo is why Carter got more sacks. Is it better to collapse the pocket from one side or both sides?

That's crap, and you know it. Collapsing the pocket from the outside doesn't work if there is no push in the middle, too.

yea because we all know how much time fat al spent in the backfield last year

What I said isn't total crap. We got the most sacks in the Oakland game, Haynesworth didn't even play. A qb can only run so far forward anyway. He can run right as far as he wants. But not if pressure is coming from that side.

What is Al Hayneworth worth?

I think you have to consider a few more things than what draft picks or players he might bring here - While Haynesworth IMO did not exactly push himself or seem very driven here last season he did have a big impact on the defense and helped the players around him. This all while being a part of a defense that looked good statistically but was IMO not properly managed by Blache

Recently this team and many fans have focused on players and not the team - we have to be careful not to make the same mistakes that Cerrato and Snyder made in looking to add and trade players without fully understanding what role these players would or did have with the other players around them

Haynesworth may be traded but I'm not sure that is in the best interest of the defense and having just paid him a lot of money I'm pretty sure the price to get him out of here is going to be very high - not that that's a bad thing

I think he's here this season but if he's traded we might initially think it made the team better but I'm not sure that the defense will be better off

Haynesworth needs to get his head straight and participate with desire - he is a defensive force and is hopefully here for a while longer

I'd dish him for a high 2nd rounder preferably.
