Albert Haynesworth is expected to remain on the trade block after being offered up by the Redskins in talks with the Eagles.

The Redskins recently paid Haynesworth a $21M option bonus. According to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora, Haynesworth has "not made a good first impression" on Mike Shanahan after clashing with Skins coaches last year.

Other coaches said that they expect the Redskins to continue attempts to move Haynesworth, who is bucking the idea of playing nose tackle as Washington plays more 3-4 defense, according to sources. Haynesworth just received a $21 million bonus at the start of the month, and his salary would make dealing him very difficult.

I think that Haynesworth would be smart to restructure his contract so that he can be traded. We'd probably get a 1st round pick but what's going to be difficult is I think the majority of the league is or is going to be running the 3/4 because of the number of hybrid linebackers coming out of college in the recent years.

They restructured Al and DeAngelo's deals a few weeks ago so that they can pay back a large portion of their 2011 salary if they want to get out of their contracts NEXT year.

And they just paid Al a roster bonus of $21 million last week, I believe, so I don't know why they would wait to move him until after that check gets paid.

He becomes much easier to trade. Nobody would have gone after him knowing that they'd have to pay him $21 million as soon as they signed him. Danny will just eat that cost in the uncapped year, so it doesn't necessarily hurt the Skins to get rid of him just after paying it, either.

Yeah isn't that $21 million a huge part of his contract? Seems like interested teams might be more inclined to go after him if they're not responsible for his huge contract.

This is the problem with that huge contract though to begin with. If you're Big Al and just cashed your $21 million check, how hungry are you really to go bust your hump playing football? I'm not knocking Al either. For any person, I think it would be pretty easy to just start enjoying your millions and taking it easy.

I was hoping that the "Haynesworth was offered in the McNabb deal" was a load invented by the Philthy sports writer. Why would we really want to get rid of the best DT in the game? Yeah, he's a pain in the butt, but he makes our D better when he's in there, and we just paid him most of the guaranteed money in his contract. Letting him walk now would just be stupid.

Andy Reid refused to answer the question when it was asked today on Sirius. He said he wasn't going to go into all that and it was behind the scenes stuff.

suck it up and play NT and DE you rich fool. If he's about him self and not the team to win games then get him out of DC.

Now that the news has surfaced that he was offered in the trade. He may not be to happy about that. I guess we will see what happens.

I dont get it.........at my job i'm asked to do some things i dont really like and i have to attend ALL mandatory meetings etc. ........ i dont get paid nearly as much as fat al but for 1/16th of what he gets paid i shut the hell up, play wherever i was told, attend every meeting, do extra cardio and study game film while doing so, then squeeze my fat ass into my ferarri with a shoe horn and drive home and go to bed then get up the next day and drive my ass to work with a huge smile on my face every day.....

I just don't understand why any of the team stuff is "optional" as thats not the case in any job that ive had

Orakpo had his best game of the year (4 sacks and many hurries) with Fat Al out of the lineup.

The difference is that Big Al signed here based on what he was told about his role on the team. He was told that we would be able to penetrate and get after the qb. He wasn't allowed to do that last year and now is there is talk of him playing NT. If I was him I'd be pissed off too. I was made promises at my job and then the exact opposite came to be, I wouldn't be happy and I'm guessing neither would you.

Haynesworth has disrespected the wishes of Shanahan by not volunteering to workout with his teammates, ok, he's also making so much money that even if he tanks it the rest of the way he's happy.

The thing is normally you would say never give a player with Albert's work ethic a 100million dollar deal, but when you look at our division and how far away we were going into last year, Albert was the FA that most presented an opportunity to be competitive again.

But that was then, this is now, I think disrespecting Shanahan's request partnered with Al's 09' performance is enough to have us contemplate a trade especially when we are depleated (what else is new) of draft picks.

So the question becomes if your looking to trade, where do you send him and for what, obviously a straight up big al for Mcnabb wouldve been great. But now I think another team deserves a phone call...

Call the Lions, they'd like to draft Okung but need a DT, trade them Albert for their #2, then trade back out of #4 and pick up 2 #1's or a 1 and a 3, there is depth at OT in this draft its not Okung or bust at LT. Some think Trent Williams is better than Okung in alot of ways. There's also Bruce Campbell Bulaga and Iupati (more of a guard but we need one of those too)

If we did that we'd have the chance to draft two Olineman in the first two rounds. Or say Trent Williams and Shanny's developmental project under McNeezy....Timmy Tebow

Do you mean the 2nd overall pick or their second rounder? There is ZERO chance that they would trade the 2nd overall pick for Big Al.

How narrow minded. The defense was improved, as previously illustrated. Carter AND Orakpo had career years with Haynesworth in the lineup. To think that Haynesworth had no impact is ignorant at best. As someone else illustrated, it's a team sport. Haynesworth contirbuted to the TEAM's effort (he can't help the offense, that was another mess entirely).

release him...he's good as gone...!!! Take the money and run Albert or fall in line and be a good soldier.

There were 2 other d-men that had 11 sacks each because of him.

It's pretty hard to send that message effectively when you sign clowns like Larry Johnson.

As for Haynesworth, the hate for him is unfounded. Yes, he needs to be in better shape and it was pathetic watching him constantly run/get carted off the field. But, he is far and away our best DT and played great last year when he was in the game. No way Carter gets close to 11 sacks without Haynesworth on the team.

You should know I despise Larry Johnson more than most, but in his defense, he hasn't done anything here. I wouldn't have taken the chance on him if I were in charge, but he's here, and he's not assualted any women or racially insulted anyone yet, so let's hope it continues.

I hope so because Haynesworth is the most talented player on the team and could be the difference between a solid defense and a nasty, dominant defense. But there is no disguising the reality of the situation and it ain't a good sign for things to come when your highest paid player puts more priority on his personal trainer than his new Head Coach.
