Tony Brackens

I read on ESPN Insider that the Redskins have some interest in Tony Brackens who was cut by the Jags for salary cap reason! I think we should go after this DE! He is 29 and is 267 lbs! He had 6 sacks last year and has always been a solid contributor! We could use another pass rusher and if we could come cheap I think we should get him!

This has already been discussed. I don't want him. Too old and too fragile. My case is closed.

Whatever!! Brackens would be a nice addition to this pathetic thing we call a "D-Line". He has been a solid contributor to the Jags org and they didnt really want to let him go. He had 6 sacks last year and were injured, year before that.
The best of the best get injured from time to time
Study then speak

Brackens has been pestered by knee problems off and on for the past few years, but I still wouldn't mind bringing him in. Even if it's to give it a whirl in camp, see if his knee holds up.
Same kinda deal as last year when we brought in Upshaw. Getting up their a little bit in age, but if healty, still has some good days left.
Why not???

Same kind of deal they used in bringing in the CB they just signed. Based on health issues. I think that Brackens is a well rounded player who can rush the passer and stop the run.. which while we need the pass rush, we can't ignore the run. Might as well keep Bruce if we do that.

Again, if these players can be signed for the "right price" then yes, no problem bring them in.
Suppose if we were to get a Brackens, then Sean Taylor is a must for us in the draft.

Jake too old? 29 is not too old! He played 15 games last year I feel he is hitting his prime and has 3 good years atleast left in his tank! 6 Sacks is decent and if we could get him around 1 mil or so I would do it!

it's the end of march, and the pickins is slim. i'm sure we'd all love to get a jason taylor right now, but it's too late. it ain't gonna happen. i'd say take anyone who help apply a little pressure and play at least 14 games this year, then get a high quality pass rusher next year through the draft or free agency (assuming we take taylor this year).

Brackens will command too high of a salary for my taste. We should draft Harris in April and maybe use him at defensive end considering his ability. I think we should fix this part of the team through the draft because we just dont have the money to sign him. Sure we might be able to afford him this year but what about next...more dead cap space!!

This
maybe true. We need to get some youngings in here, so they can earn their keep.

I for one would just love to see an end to the free agency fixes. We need to pay more attention to the draft...cheap labor!!

I think this guy isn't much of an upgrade from the mediocure guys we already got. Of course, I'm speaking of Wynn, Upshaw, and Daniels. I would really like to see us pick up a young stud in the draft at DE.

Sorry, Jake. I'm with RSC and 'donuts on this one. Let's get him in under contract. If we still haven't upgraded at DE by the time June comes and goes, at least we have Brackens.

If we were to want Brackens, then yeah, we wouldn't need someone like Upshaw if we get Brackens.. and true most if not all of our D-line is mediocre..but Brackens would'nt make too much of a difference.

I'll be turning 31 next week. I honestly have to say I don't feel old and I don't have back pains or sore joints(knock on wood). I feel no different from when I was 21. I actually can lift more weight now than I could when I was younger. For all you young guys out there, time flys. It seems like yesterday when I was 21. Don't joke old guys a lot because before you know it, you'll be in your 30's.

Sorry guy's*********** I live in Jacksonville, and my advice would be to forget Brackens and start thinking about what will be available after June 1st.
My reason for these comments are he was hurt to much.
we will get a better dealas other teams make their cuts.
Does all of this make sense?
you guy's are a real fun bunch,a pleasure to discuss with.
