Antonio Pierce

I know he's older..probably a little slower but I have to think he's still got some life left in the tank. Not too mention he is a solid tackler and a great leader. Can never have to many of those on your team.
What do you guys think about bringing him back to Washington?

I say no. He has already spoken openly on how he felt about the Redskins which was not good. Plus he is not the same player any more.

This is a common trend with Skins fans... Let's start developing young talent, not guys who have already reached their peak.

I'd say yes, if not for the expected switch to the 3-4. Peirce is a small guy for a MLB, much Like Fletcher. In the 3-4 you have fewer DL covering up the OL, so you need larger MLB to fight off the increased # of blockers they will face (not to mention that the time they are blocked, the OL can generally come from a better angle to lay a better block). Nor is Peirce a good fit for OLB because that position is relied upon very often to rush the passer, not one of Antonio's strenghts.

Apart from being a less than ideal fit for a 3-4 defense (which I agree with) - is anyone going to mention that the likeliness of Pierce WANTING to return are probably between slim and none?
He's made some pretty back-handed comments since leaving - some of them grossly over-exaggerated - but there have been several nonetheless.
Hasn't AP burned the bridge significantly enough to make sure that he can't cross it?
Obviously in the business of the NFL, memory is short, and forgiveness is as long as the amount of zeroes that you put on the end of a pay check, but I personally struggle to see him coming back to Washington.
Cons
1) Not a spring chicken anymore
2) Not a good fit for the 3-4
3) Diminishing stats and performance
4) How 'recoovered' is he from his injury?
5) Burned bridges
Pros
1) As JG would say, Super-smart player
2) He'd apparently like to stay in the NFC East which drastically limits his possibilities
3) If his injuries are healed, he's still seviceable - and better than what we have (Fletcher not included)
4) The only similarities between now and when he was here is the owner
5) Money has a way of mending bridges
To me the Cons outweigh the Pros, but YMMV...

I don't get why we would want to bring back a guy who so needlessly burns bridges. The Gnats gave him lots more front money, he had every reason to say nothing and go. Let's get someone with more maturity. But if we do bring him back as depth, the biggest objection I can muster is a yawn, whatever.

No thanks. I've realized that we should do what the Eagles do, NOT sign older free agents. He's over 30, so no thanks. I can forgive his stupid negative comments, I can't forgive his age.

I can't forgive his chubby belly. The dude's put on some serious weight since he was around DC.

He didn't just burn the bridge when leaving DC, he burnt it down and did a victory dance on it, while urinating on the remains. Shows how professional he is.
No thanks.

This guy has lost a FEW steps. Don't think we need that. Doubt he will be in the league much longer

One of my best friends has a 13yo daughter...so she sent me a PDF with a lot of the acronyms for me to be ready when my oldest gets to that stage...and I thought I was sneaky when I was that age.
and maybe just a little jealous
