That's good work Chad - a new head coach in town, the distinct possibility that Randy Thomas won't be around next year, and a team now well known for lacking discipline - a team on the lookout for a good young guard, and good characters.
And you get arrested.

Give me a break, the man went out and got drunk...
Whats next? Campbell got a seat belt ticket? Shame on you!

I've been drunk loads of times too. Drunk is one thing. Arrested is another.
It may be bad luck, or it may be an over zealous police officer. But to get arrested on a matter of personal discipline really isn't a smart thing right now. I'm not crucifying the guy, but he should be feeling very very stupid.

So cops in Iowa have nothing better to do than arrest someone who is minding his own business and not harming anyone, just because he had apparently been drinking alcohol and was in the mood for pizza? Ridiculous.

I understand what you're saying, but this should be a non-story, I'm more questioning the choice to write an article on this than anything. The guy was going in to get some pizza after a night out...who hasn't done that? IMO the police officer should have left him alone if he wasn't causing any trouble. We've all probably seen cops crack down on "random" people to set an example too, its BS, but it happens. Just seems like the author could find something a little better than this to write about if he/she is trying to make a player look bad.

I don't like pizza. Lol.
I don't blame the person writing the article - for all I know, Chad Rinehart may be the most famous person in Cedar Falls, and this might be the biggest story of the year there.
Do we know whether the pizza house was open?! Trying to enter the place when it was closed would be a little foolish. And declining the breath test was not exactly sensible.
Again, I'm not trying to string the guy up for a minor offence (lordy - this might be the sort of stuff Riggins would have been doing at half time, never mind the offseason), but I do think he's let himself down badly.
The Redskins season is only ever 17 weeks long these days, sadly. But a Washington Redskin is supposed to be a professional football player 365 days a year.

you are all missing the important info in the article. it was a college cop. most of us on this site went to college at some point (at least for a while!) and we all know that the number one goal of collegite officers is to bust drunk students, now i knowits hard to confuse a 300+ professional football player witha college student but that had to have een the officers M.O.

Sooo, he wasnt driving right, he wasnt fighting, he wasnt pissing in public.... He was getting pizza when drunk. Sounds a lot like me every friday and saturday night. Of course I usually have a hot girl with big boobs with me (he forgot that obviously) to keep out of the lawmans reach.
This is a joke. public intoxication is like a slap on the wrist, nobody cares. Ask a cop, seriously, nobody cares.

Was the cop a Cowboys fan?

Washington Redskins guard Chad Rinehart has been arrested on public intoxication charges in Iowa after he pulled on a locked door at a pizza restaurant.
University of Northern Iowa police spokesman Dave Zariffs says officers responded to a door alarm at Mojo's Pizza House in Cedar Falls about 2 a.m. on Monday. When they arrived they found Rinehart pulling on a locked door.
A police report says Rinehart, who played at Northern Iowa from 2004-07, appeared to be intoxicated. Rinehart refused a breath test and was arrested.

I'm not so much angry at the fact that he got drunk and went for pizza - sounds pretty American to me.
But, in his situation, it is mind-boggling. First, he is by all accounts a huge 3rd Round bust. Second, he's coming off of a season ending injury. Three, we have a new HC and GM who have a reputation for using svelte and agile lineman.
You'd think eating pizza and getting p*ss drenched would be the last thing he'd be doing this offseason.

This is such a ridiculous story. For those who don't know campus cops are pretty much all Seth Rogen's character from Observe and Report. If you can't become a real cop, join the campus police.
It's right after the season, it's months before OTA's so if Chad Rinehart wants to have something to drink and get some pizza that's his business. The public intoxication law is one of the most baffling that we have in America and in this case it was enforced according to the letter... not the spirit.

Dude was drunk. I've spent the night in the drunk tank before. Hell, didn't the Hogs get drunk after practice at the practice fields?

Wow, public intoxication. OMG, LOCK HIM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY!!!! Are people seriously upset about this? I got a DIP (drunk in public) one time. It was a night in the drunk tank and a $50 fine. BFD!!!
I guess this is news to some, since we have trade AH and acquire Brandon Marshall threads as of late...

Not a big deal on the legal side, but a stupid move for a bust of a player that has a new coach coming in.

I don't see this story as a big deal. I think its rather stupid to get arrested for public intoxication IF he wasn't doing anything belligerent. Some cop with a GOD complex was bored and had to harass someone. Football players are people too and if he wants to go out to have fun, get drunk and then get a fix for his beer munchies, by all means go for it.

Ain't that the truth ... and while in NYC ... nothing like places like Lombardi's, Otto Enoteca, or Patsy's, among others in Manhattan. (waiting for Welch to contribute ... )
I have a Manhattan bias but the best pizzas are arguably located in Brooklyn. I blame my bias on the Dodgers skipping town

.
Anyway, not a good first impression Mr R. Perhaps even an excuse to set an example.
Interestingly, I do not care about the drinking, you might have heard "juicy" stories about the Hogs. It is the arrest and the public aspect that matters.
Drink at home. Drink with your friends. Just do not embarrass the Team.

I think this is pretty much right. When you become a football player, you bring in the big $$ and you get the fame that comes along with it. It's a package deal, and yes, you'll be held to a higher standard. Someone like Bruce Smith could get away with a few of these, but someone like Rinehart (a player on the margin) really needs to be careful.
I don't think less of him for this, really, but it was imprudent.

L&B is in a class of its own in Brooklyn. Ozone is the place to go in Queens....but there are also plenty of good pizza places in SI, mainly Brother's Pizza.
