RUSS GRIMM VS JOE JACOBY ---its a rout----ALL JACOBY

Im writing this post because sometimes in sports and even life Preception becomes greater than reality. Time not only heals all wounds but it also clouds memories and creates fake ones(ala Phil Rizzuto swearing JACKIE ROBINSON WAS OUT ON HISTORIC STEAL OF HOME IN 1952..he said he best view from SS only to find out years later...he wasnt even on the field.)...Time does that

Russ Grimm will forever be close our hearts and he still has my favorite all time Redskin story. The one where late in the 82 Championship game hes lining up across from Randy White and telling him as their lining up Riggins was coming right him again and again . Classic Grimm

This is what bothers me....How in gods name is he being considered for the Hall of Fame ahead of Joe Jacoby. Why havent more fans stepped up and cried about this injustice? Should Grimm be in? probably...Jacoby ..WITHOUT QUESTION!!!.. AHEAD of GRIMM
heres the not only my arguement BUT FACTS
Grimm from years81-86 was a stalwart Guard maybe the best starting 84 of 86 games in that span and starting in all 10 post season games
Jacoby in that time same thing Stalwart one of the best at his postion ...started 85 of 86 games including all the postseason games

THIS IS WHY IM SUPER CONFUSED....Grimm played from 87-91 either hurt or as a backup starting in only 30 of 88 games played...GRIMM DID NOT START for any of 87 or 91 post season games..THE 87 OLINE WAS --JACOBY MAY MCKENZIE BOSTIC AND RC THEILMANN----91- JACOBY LACHEY BOSTIC MCKENZIE SCHELERETH
So Grimm is one best guards from 81-86,,,then his career falls off a cliff he starts IN ONLY 34 percent of games played from 87-91 and doesnt start in any post season games in that time frame

Jacoby FROM 81-86 resumee just as good as Grimm but from 87-91..Jacoby starts in 65 games of 88 games actually more when factoring in PS GAMES...(74 percent vs 34 percent grimm)...MORE IMPORTANTLY..he starts in all post season games ...and even better...DOMINATES in SB 87 AND 91..both games Grimm watched from sidelines...look at VHS TAPES FELLAS.

..Jacoby mauls the Denver and Buffalo Dlines(COUNTER TREY STYLE!) in both games ..Jacoby is one of Gibbs and Bugels BEST OLINEMAN IN BOTH BOOKEND YEARS 82 AND 91....Grimm not even close

has Time clouded memories? Because Grimm is still NFL Involved has this taken place ? Dont know but this makes absolutely no sense...Jacoby was by far the GOLD STANDARD HOG....BOOKEND YEAR TO BOOKEND YEAR..His performances in all 3 SB'S wins are outstanding ..Grimm last SB start was 83..

I wish Russ Grimm all the best and I hope he gets in..... but Joe Jacoby had the better career and its not close

OH and btw jacoby played until 93 starting 10 more total games

Funny you mentioned Jacoby Mezz.. Yesterday on the .. shoot I can't remember which show but they had spoke about Jacoby as well. I think most fans would agree with you but we're all like hey, as long as one gets in he'll represent for the others.. I think?

We all want the Hogs to get their due...But If Grimm is getting this much consideration over Jacoby..when their playing careeres aren't really close

How Many other injustices have been done that were not privy to because its not our player or team

Why is Grimm getting pushed so hard? Because he Hobnobs in the Old Boys Network?

Grimm getting in doesn't make me feel good about the Football HOF process AT ALL

Some of us have been saying such things for years.

No disrespect for Grimm intended, but obviously his POST playing days are affecting the decision. They actually BOTH deserve to have a bust in Canton.

I think it's also important to point out that not only was JJ arguably the better lineman - he was never even drafted - and he wouldn't have ever become a Redskin if it weren't for the fact that Gibbs thought he was a defensive tackle. JJ would have never even got a roster slot were it not for that fact.

I boycotted the HOF for years because of Monk... their process seems as flawed as the pro Bowl - and most people know how 'accurate' that is...

Hey Counter I was Pissed about Monk ...but this adds a whole new level of questions about The HOF

This isn't about Cowboy Favoritism or Redskin Hating etc etc....

this is about Two guys that played RIGHT NEXT to one another for the same team!well at least they did untils Grimms career in 86 fell off a cliff while Jacoby still played productively for 7 more seasons...and since we post on a site NAMED AFTER this great group shouldn't we discuss how the GOLD STANDARD HOG is being slighted

We have... many times. At least it seems that way.

In the poll we've always had on the special Hogs section on this website... JJ is the definite leader in the fan vote... 3 times as many votes as Grimm...

That's Fair Boss...I just haven't seen anything on this forum since Grimm was named a Finalist
Just because Grimm is a fellow hog we should not look pass this injustice...I had to vent

Only in football can u outplay a Teammate for 7 years in the same time period and get overlooked for the HOF for that very same teammate

Football HOF is a absolute Joke..and it goes past Team Favoritism or Team Dislikes or Player popularity..This is proof.

This uncovers a whole new can of worms on the Pro Football HOF Mess

My point is, the HOF is not necessarily about whom most deserves to go... and until they take the press (whom are often corrupt and unable to grasp true greatness) out of the picture, it will remain so.

My further point would be, Grimm deserves to be in... Jacoby would, no doubt, agree. Does that somehow devalue Jacoby's standing? I don't think so.

NEW can of worms? Hardly.

Describing this as an "injustice" doesn't help. Where was your indignation in 2004... 2005... 2006... 2007... 2008... and, oh yeah... 2009? Grimm was a strong candidate in each of those years, as well... where was your indignation then? Does raining on Grimm's parade somehow strengthen Jacoby's case?

While I agree with you guys about the talent difference of Grimm and Jacoby or Art and Irving (uhg), I'm not angry about this stuff at all. Its called the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Greatness. Grimm is more famous, and so is Irving. Its a museum which wants to attract visitors. Grimm will attract more. Irving attracts more. I'd like to offer a suggestion though... lets make a Hogs.net Hall of Greatness, not Fame, and put only deserving players in!

Agree 100%. I think both should be in there and I can't believe that Jacoby doesn't seem to be even considered every year.

Well we have been saying these things for a long time. Hopefully now that Green and Monk are in we will start to see more Redskins get in.

Jacoby seems like a lock yet he is not in. In my mind there are four who deserve to be in. Joe Bugel, Jacoby, Grimm and Bostic. Riggins is already in as the ground hog. Lachey would have made it had he played longer. George Starke and Mark May should be considered as well. But the first four I mentioned were easily the core. How about Mckenzie?

We will see. I suspect we need this current team to make a run at the SuperBowl to get some more recognition. Even though the Hogs already deserve to be in.

Buges has to wait 5 years before he can be considered.

How do you boycott the HOF? I'm curious because I ban things all the time. I have weekly bans for food delivery that forget's something like a side salad. I have monthly and yearly bans for multiple offenses like this one pizza joint that continues to forget to bring a side of hot sauce for the wings. I have lifetime bans as well, like the MLB for not putting Pete Rose in the HOF over the likes of, well, anybody else, and it will remain on the ban list until he is enshrined AND they create a salary cap. But I would love to know how to ban the NFL HOF, because I would get in on that if it comes to it.

Not to get off the topic of Grimm & Jacoby(Jacoby should be in before Grimm)...but that whole Micheal Irvine thing still chaps my butt. How they voted that sorry piece in is nothing short of pitiful. Maybe if Monk had gotten himself some whores and some cocaine and gotten arrested a few times he would've been in the headlines and got the nod a little earlier.
