I think he's got 3 or 4 good years left. Will he or won't he?

from what i gather his spine is like a twig at this point. So it doesn't look good.

Yes, I think he will. But I have no red line phone to tell. Jake, on the other hand ...

Maaaaan, I hope he retires only because I want him to have a life. I love the guy, we all do, he did great things for us but there's no need to risk your health/life for it anymore when you had such a serious injury.

Jake's probably the best person to ask - or a doctor. Like Brad said, from what we've all hear/read online, if he gets hit wrong, he could be paralyzed. But that was long ago when we all heard that. Somethings could have changed but it hasn't been discussed lately and I'm sure it won't until closer to the draft or OTA's.

Of course, selfishly, I want him back. But in his best interest, I just hope Chris can do what he wants to do. If he thinks football is worth the rist, then I welcome him back. If he retires due to his spinal condition, then I'll still sport my Samuels jersey proudly.

I, of all people, would LOVE to see him come back next season but it wouldn't be worth it if he's as close to a very serious injury as we have all read.

I say, maybe because I'm grasping that he won't retire yet, that it's probably a 60-70% chance he retires. I'm sure if I wasn't such a big Chris Samuels fan that my percentage would be higher than 60-70. I think, if he does come back, it will be because a lot of thought went into it and he feels like his condition is serious but not as serious as the reports indicate and that he can play with it.

I'm leaning toward more likely than not that he has played his last down in the NFL, and if he did, I was lucky enough to see it in person in Carolina, as I was able to watch his last play from the 2008 season in Baltimore as well.

I say he won't be back next year. I have told him that I want him back but not if it jeopardizes his life or causes serious injury. In my heart of hearts, I'm bracing myself to see a new starting left tackle next season.

3 or 4 good years left? I guess if you're not counting the spinal stenosis and the extreme unlikelihood that he can play an entire season.

appreciate the input and thoughts from that post Jake

given the reports, I think we have seen Samuels play his last game at LT for this franchise but I hope he can be available to help the new guy coming in if that is at all possible

Thanks Chris for all the effort to be as great a Redskins starting left tackle as you were over all those years

When I do look back on Chris' tenure here, I think about one video over the past season or two. Chris was giving an interview and I think it was Portis who ran up and slapped his birthday cake in his face. Most guys would've been pissed but Chris was laughing like crazy and almost seemed shocked that it had just happened. He got up and ran after Clinton. Maybe as fast as I've ever seen him run.

Good times Chris and I really hope you can come back and play for our Redskins but I don't think that there is anyone here who feels if things are a bad as been reported, it's not worth it. We'd love to see you standing on the sidelines in the future instead of being wheeled out on the field.

Best of luck regardless of what your decision is.

Not a problem, SJ.

I wish I had a direct line so I'd be the first to know his status but I'm just like everybody else when it comes to getting the news about Big Chris.

Whether he returns or not will definitely impact free agency and the draft.

Yes it will. LT is one of the most important positions on the team. Thats why they make the big bucks compared to a RT on most teams.

I know. Unless the doctors really feel it's safe I hope he does retire. The risk of something serious happening isn't worth playing a game.

I love the guy, but for his own good I think it is better for him to retire and I support him.
