What about OUR Colt?

What about Colt Brennan? I wonder what the Shanahans can do with him. He does possess a quick release and fairly good accuracy - 2 things they like and require in their QB's.

I hope they give him a shot. Perhaps he can develop under this new and improved coaching and become the man. I love JC but I am not sure he will ever be the "man".

Thoughts?

Don't think this hipster will ever play a down for the Skins.

I can't say that I see Colt being "the man" either just because he hasn't shown the ability to stay healthy.

I would also like to see him in the game vs. #1's. He looked awful in the preseason last year when he was competing with Chase. How he won the job shocks me but either way, the coaches clearly didn't see anything with Daniel b/c they didn't even bring him back after he was dropped from N.O.'s roster twice this year. I'm not sure if Shanny is going to give him a shot in all honesty because there is a lot of specuation that he is going to bring in a QB to groom from the draft but there are also rumors that he may bring in someone who's played under his/his son's system before as a reliable backup. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see Sage back in a burgundy/Gold uniform again since he was somewhat successful in Houston. Not sure if he would be the starter but I could see them bring him in for competition. I just don't know what type of compensation that it will require to lure him away from Minnesotta or if he's even available. He was traded Feb '09 w/ 1 year left. He got a 2 million extension for $9m. Minny only gave up a 4th round pick though and he's currently 32 yrs old. Just some info to chew on.

It is amazing isn't it? But it's par for DC, the third string Skins QB is always one of the most popular guys in town even when we for all practical purposes cut him in camp and kept two QBs because we felt a guy we could get on the waiver wire was just as good. He has a long way to go to reach Babe Laughinstock level of most undeservedly exalted QB in Skins folklore. Oh, if we'd only given the Babe a chance...what might have been.

Funny... I was about to drop his name into my own reply!

He'll be evaluated just like everyone else...

For a team hungry for players and lacking enough draft picks, we'd be dumb just to throw away players.

If Zorn has shown ANYTHING it's that he's a piss poor evaluator of talent. Just as JC is an unknown, so is Colt Brennan.

I love me some Colt and was bummed that he went on IR.
This kid needs a good look by the Shanahan and staff. He could be the answer to the WestCoast Offense. Just look at his stats at Hawaii.

Too bad New Mexico state doesn't play in the NFL.

Colt's got to be the most talented sixth rounder since Brady. Maybe even including Brady comparing college stats. The only question is if Danny is just micromanaging the team and doesn't know what he has and won't let the staff play him or if he's just too concerned that Colt would be too popular in DC tearing up the NFL and eclipse his own limelight.

Colt is such a talent, I just hope Danny doesn't destroy him. Shanahan won Super Bowls in Denver not just because of Elway but he wouldn't have won them without him. I just hope he realizes what a rare talent he has in Colt and plays him anyway.

We want Super Bowls, Danny! We want Colt, Danny! The one guy on our roster with the talent to take us there. Let your coaches play him!

Are you serious Kazoo? I'm pretty sure Danny didn't hire someone in preseason to blow out Colt's hip. I can't remember what happened to him the year before. I think it was a knee or ankle but there is one saying that totally applies to Colt: "You can't make the club if you're in the tub."

 I'm tired of people putting ANY expectations on Colt. He's done almost nothing, other than BARELY show enough in a few pre-season games to warrant keeping him as a third string QB. He didn't even keep that position this past season when they opted to P.Squad him. Can we dispense with Colt threads until he actually does something? I'm sure Shanny will give him as much opportunity as a 3rd string/ Practice Squad QB usually gets.

He was placed on IR, not the practice squad.

Are you kidding? Colt clearly has the most pure quarterbacking skills this organization has seen since Slinging Sammy himself. Colt is fast, athletic, smart. He has great reflexes and makes great reads. He has a cannon for an arm but can deliver the soft passes as well. And when all is covered he wisely throws the ball away or pulls it down and runs for a first down. He crushed the college opposition posting amazing stats and is ready to do the same in the NFL. Only with pro-receivers he should blow away his lofty college numbers.

All we need is a management and owner not too myopic and insecure to let him off the bench. I sure hope Allen and Shanahan are the guys who realize what a gift to this organization Colt is.

The guy is just phenomenal. I heard he out bench pressed Chad Reinhart one morning and then beat Kelly in the 40 in the afternoon. What an athlete!

The off-season and the entire cycle of tired subjects can never start soon enough for Redskins fans.

We can also start another thread about the glory days, like about the time of Jurassic Park. Oh, those were the days ...
