CP had some of his best years playing for Shanahan in Denver , remember the whole wrestling belt 5 touchdown game against the chiefs.....Could be a resurgence of Clinton here especially if he restructures his contract.........
if we get shanahan id be surprised if southeast jerome didnt stick around awhile

No way. Shanahan uses young no name running backs. He knows that running backs are a dime a dozen and that hungry backs run harder than ones that are over the hill playing dress up in the locker room.

I wouldn't be surprised if he were cut/traded or if he stays. Shanahan is a "best player" type guy and I'm sure he'll put the best RB in the game. Even if it isn't CP.

Not that we would get much value for him but trading CP seems to accomplish a couple of things. We get SOMETHING for him...draft pick and someone to take on his salary. Iam unsure however if that would also take care of the cap hit. If we don't have a CBA next year then it would be a blessing rebuilding the team.

Its a good question, I don't think anyone but Shanahan could answer. It really depends on what MS thinks of CP's viability as a feature back unless Portis redoes his contract to take a lesser role.

Portis is guaranteed $6.4 million dollars next year, and the only way he doesn't get it is if he retires.
Unless Bruce Allen can convince Snyder that Portis isn't worth the $800k or so he's scheduled, but not guaranteed, to be paid in 2010, he's not going anywhere.

The only opinion of Portis that matters is Mike Shanahan's

Assuming he is the coach...

And even then, the question isn't "is Portis worth the money?"
Because again, by and large, Snyder's going to have to pay him no matter what happens.
So the question will be: "Can the Skins find somebody to take Portis's roster spot, and to play better than Portis, for $6.4M less than Portis is owed in 2010?"
I just don't think it's much of a leap to presume that the answer to that is probably "no."

Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan are about to give this team a facelift.
