Wow! I'm not sure what to think about this...reunited w/ the Allen family, instead of Cerrato, thats good, now hopefully they can win.

Ok well now that rumors have been confirmed, let the new era begin.
Good luck Bruce Allen may you have a fabulous career in Washington.

As long as Allen is allowed to actually run this team exclusively - this is the dawn of a new era...

I guarantee that there is a clause for him to get out to coach in the NFL.
This is awesome news and it shows that Snyder is finally waking up to the fact that he needs to back off of his meddling and let "football" people handle the business. Christmas came early for us Redskins fans!

As of Tuesday, Cerrato was going to stay in "some" capacity. I suspect that one of the conditions agreed with Bruce Allen was that Cerrato would be out of the picture.
Danny felt the "temperature" around. He knew that, short of hiring a GM, he would not stand a chance of credibility next season.

Hopefully Allen is truly given the keys to the shiny new car.
I don't see him accepting anything other than that, but with DS, we will unfortunately just have to wait and see...
As I blogged months ago - not enough to just hire a new GM - DS has to give him 100% of the decision making.
All Snyder has to say is, "Yeah I'll sign that cheque."

This is what we wanted, wish I could get out of work to celebrate!!! Redskins have a chance as long as Danny boy backs off and lets our new GM run the team..
What does this mean for Zorn? Would he move back down to OC after being HC? Or is he out?

Hopefully this is a precursor to a Gruden hiring because Allen by himself doesn't make much sense. He wasn't very good as the Bucs GM/VP from 2004-2008. Struggled considerably with the draft.

Is this an upgrade? I mean that seriously, i'm as happy as anyone that Cerrato is gone but just because he's gone doesn't mean we are better off...or does it? A few have already stated that Mr. Allen wasn't that great in this same capacity with Tampa Bay and if that's the case have we improved? I don't follow GM's so I really don't know his track record other than what's been posted. Have his free agent acquisitions been good ones, etc.?

Bigger picture... Vinny was the fall guy he wasn't making decisions...This is hopefully signaling DS willingness to give up control...it's a start!!

He was the GM for the Oakland Raiders - when they went to the SB a few years back. They then went to GB but if memory serves me correctly, ownership handcuffed them on spending. So they really couldn't go after elite level of talent. They did draft pretty good over the years though.

Sometimes GMs can struggle in one place but do well in another. We Redskins fans of all people should know that sometimes a GM is prevented from working in ideal conditions.
Like many here, I will probably remain skeptical and take a "wait-and-see" approach to this. But it's hard to deny that this is a very positive (albeit a first) step . . . potentially on the road to victory. Time will tell.
