Redskins' RBs

Stop me if I'm wrong (I just a little frenchy with nothin' but few informations 'bout NFL between two seasons), but if I look at offense's stats, notably rushin' stats, Redskins ranking' seems a little poor. Sure, a strong defense is necessary, but no defense can eternally resist if offense gives back the ball to opponent too often. The two games I saw this year showed me a lack in offensive punch. You guys seem (and no doubt you're right) to think we need a better defensive line, but what about RBs ?? is there anything ya can tell me 'bout that ? What was the draft for the 'skins ? are we gonna see new players in the back field ? thanks for help, I really got too few infos 'bout that.

We traded pro-bowl corner back Champ Bailey and a 2nd round pick to the Denver Broncos for running back Clinton Portis. Portis is a great RB and only 23!!!

We have Portis ??? GREAT !! He had two terrific seasons !! I had no news 'bout that... What a pity, it's difficult for me to get news. Thanks to you for your answers ! 2004 is gonna be a great season...

PS : don't think i'm a kinda fool lost on the moon or a new robinson crusoe on his island or anything else. I'm just a frenchy far from the NFL (but who LOVES Football and the Redskins !!)

Frenchy....go protest a war or something.

errrggh!!!

We have Portis.

If you are going to try to be a Redskin fan start with their History....then learn about the players (past and present).

The internet (which you are on) has many sites about this.

Welcome Frenchy,
There was nothing wrong with our running backs or running game. The problem was the number of running plays that were actually called. We averaged about 3.9 yards a carry which is not great but it isnt that bad either. I think our oline is really good considering they pass blocked all season with a offense that had no protection for the QB.

I cant wait to see what our running game does to that number one ranked defense down in Cowboyland. We averaged over four yards a carry with the our backs last season. I think Portis is going to fall in love with his new coach. Cowboy fans are expecting Clinton to assume the fetal position when he sees Roy Williams!! AS IF!

A little advise Nicky the Frog; please don't take this the wrong way. As a novice fan it is a good idea to look around some quality site (like this one) and get some information before posting, as your comment comes of as naive (pardon my French  ) at best. The two biggest stories this off season are in order 1. Joe Gibbs, and 2. Bailey for Portis trade. We have our RB and everyone else on the roster at this position is competing for 2nd string. That being said, This site will make you a much better and well-informed fan. I know I am thanks to all the members here. Thanks Everyone!

Frenchy,

A little naive yes but I've been to France and they do not do football. I was over there in 2000 during football season and couldn't get a single item about what was going on - not even a score!

Great advise was given - check out the sites around. Use google or any other search engine and you will find alot about the 'Skins. And read the posts on this board - some of the best around....

I'm sure if you stay around this fall there will be plenty of discussion about games, players, plays, etc... Hopefully you will read - Man did we kick butt today - can you believe the Eagles never even crossed the 50, you think 6 rushing TD's for Portis is a record, 320 yards in one game - man we are cooking - Or words to that effect!!!!

ShinHead,

I think Frenchy was talking about the running stats from last year. We all know the running game will improve tremendously with the addition of Porter and Gibbs. Remember, we all were novice fans at one time or another.

You're right ShinHead, I was talkin' 'bout last year. I saw the game against bucs and against Cowboys... It really was terrible. And Canidate or Cartright season stats were not really bad (we can say good avg for both) but the two games I saw didn't show me passing/rushing rating and I had no real idea of Spurrier strategy. Ya must know that to see complete NFL games, I have to search for videos. One private french TV shows games but they select one and for the rest that's just few actions... Hard to understand team quality ! And when I went on NFL sites : 1rst it's not easy to understand all what is said. 2nd : I got not real NFL culture. 3rd : It's not easy to understand what can be a team production when ya just read some news. That's why I was happy to discover this site ! That's easier for me to understand the real life of the team. Just an exemple : I read a lot of the draft but I didn't really understand...

That's why I need your help !!

Thanks guys, so long !

:celebrate:
