Positives on the season

No negativity here. There are some good things going on this season. Let's talk about a few.
1) The D is actually good. I know we gave up a lot of points today, but NO has a monster O and they got some gifts from our O
2) Our O is actually improving. Jason isn't consistently sucking and he only sucks some of the time.
3) We are finally addressing our O line and even in mid season Buges is showing he's still got it.
4) Our 3 second rounders are starting to come around. Well, Kelly still blows, but Davis is looking like a keeper and Thomas keeps improving.
5) If we had a kicker who was good when we needed points and not just when we don't we could be playing 500 ball right now.
6) And this is probably the biggest. I still think Snyder totally screwed up the hiring Lewis call, but hiring him coincided with our O starting to gel. Related or not, right now it's looking like Zorn was the one who wasn't recognizing reality and Snyder is looking like he made a good call. Skill or luck, I'm feeling he has a story to tell actual good coaches that he's not going to just undercut them. I hope they buy it.
That's what I've got, optimists only in this thread please.

I stopped reading after #2 because I wanted to kick my dog in the head.
Drew Brees had 400+ yds passing today. There are recievers open all over the field, especially deep. So when you say the D is good, try to only mention the front 7.
Also Jason Campbell is terrible. He's not even OK, he's absolutely undeniably awful. He makes throws every now and then but any scrub can do that. He's a choke artist over and over again.

You know what your boy JCam is on track for this year. A 3-13 season. Honestly he could throw for 8,000 yds and it wouldnt matter if you can't win games.
Hunter Smith has probably been the most consistent player all year.
Haynesworth has done his job as well as London. Doughty (sp) looked good (secondary), Orakpo, Macintosh, front seven did great.
I also like how well Devin Thomas played, I especially like that hes returning kicks, it means we are looking for big play potential, not just decent field position. Fred Davis impresses me more and more each week. I think he blocked very well today and I know hes been working on that.

You know what, he's the QB. You want the spotlight you got it. When the team wins he gets the on field interview. When the team loses it's the o-lines fault? no, no I don't think thats how it works at all.

When it matters most JC chokes....against the Eagles we had the ball at the end of the game with a chance to score and we can't even get a completion. Today, after a good three quarters, he was nowhere to be seen in the 4th. All we needed at the end of the game was 3 points and what does JC do...throws a pick. It's shocking how much he sucks with the game on the line. Truly unbelievable.

Mmmm ... the positives only?
We might get a new Front Office with a competent and empowered GM and get Danny Snyder out of the football side of the operations.
I know that this is pure speculation on my part but I want to remain positive. In fact, if it does not happen, I will open up the NEGATIVE thread.

JC - He'd be a keeper if he was clutch.
RB Corps - Gaither and Mason are awesome. IMHO.
Oline - I've been saying for some time now that you gotta play guys for them to get better... They aren't going to come in and be all-stars. We have some depth there, especially once some guys heal up if we choose to retain them.
WR Corps - Eat Crow doubters. Thomas, Kelly and Davis are as good as JC makes them. JC is coming on and now so are they. With Zorns nut brain out the way, Sherm is taking advantage of their skills. Thank Goodness.
PLAY CALLING - ZORN HAS NEVER BEEN A PLAY CALLER!!!!! LOOK WHAT HAPPENED WHEN WE GOT SOMEONE QUALIFIED TO DO IT!!!! SHOCK!!!
D- line - Good as long as Albert is there. I'd like to draft a replacement for Corn, late in the draft. IF possible.
Orakpo - What can I say?
Doughty - I doubted you, I stand corrected.

So what?
Total yards alone mean nothing. "More yards" is nowhere close to a synonym for "better quarterback.'
Yesterday was some of his best play as a professional quarterback but one of his biggest demons -- slow delivery -- raised its ugly head on the out pattern that Vilma picked.
That will always be there and can't be coached out of him.

. Campbell didn't throw a single incomplete pass in the 4th quarter. If he was "nowhere to be seen," it's because keeping the clock moving was as important as scoring points (being late in the game with a lead and all).
I know the timing fits into a lot of people's preconceived narratives of what Campbell is and isn't, but come on. He threw 42 passes yesterday, and two of them were bad. This against a defense coached by a guy with a very legitimate grudge against the Skins, potentially with HFA on the line, and who just happen to lead the league in takeaways. And, frankly, he tore it up. If everybody else on the Skins played as well as Campbell did yesterday, the game would have been a blowout.
And you know what? He wouldn't have had to throw 42 passes, either.

Please. It's the same story with JC over and over again. When it matters most he can't get the job done. Good quarterbacks can, he can't. One late-game drive in five years in the NFL to win a game. Hell, even Bruce Gradkowski led such a drive yesterday, against a much better defense.

The positives from this season?
This franchise will become a lot better if we manage the team properly
This division is not filled with teams that are making themselves that much better than ours and that we can be competitive with them even though we are not even close to playing together
we will be a lot better team if we can put the players in the best position that suits their abilities and not play players that do not make the other players around them better

This stuff is just absolutely moronic. The guy throws for what almost 400 yards and 3 TDs? That should be enough to win the game end of story. At some point the rest of the team has to do its part to help put the game away.
But no, of course the silly JC hating trolls will pop up and insist its all Campbell's fault. Yes! Let's draft Jimmy Clausen next year and all will be well in la-la-land!
I don't really have an opinion anymore about Jason Campbell. But to call him out after a game like he had yesterday is just ignorant and unfair. That guy played his butt off yesterday with a team that by all rights should just be phoning it in at this point in this awful season. Skins fans who can't appreciate the effort they gave yesterday aren't really fans at all in my opinion.

I will agree that Campbell played the best we have seen him play - that still does not make him a starting caliber QB, in my opinion - he just had a great day - actually I hope he has 4 more games as good or better
that is the best way for us to get something for him -
IF he stays here next year that is fine with me too as I'm sure all he will be doing is filling in time until we get a decent offensive line and a (hopefully) winning QB to come here and put on a B&G uniform again
Campbell might be a good QB (highly doubtful) but he is not a winning QB and that is a given

Learn to read genius. Nobody is saying that it is JC's fault. The point is that, once again, with a chance to win the game late JC choked. If your so happy to defend him please point out when in his five year career, other than last year against NO, that JC lifted the team on his back and did what Brees and Gradkowski both did for their teams? I'm not denying that he played well for 3.5 quarters. But in crunch time he once again came up short.

I think that there are a few posters on this site that don't consider "clutch" and late-game perforamances to be important for a qb.

Campbell hasn't been clutch since he's been here. I don't think many people have all the confidence in the world that we will win the game on a last minute cause it hasn't really happened for us. But in a 2 minute drill doesn't he suppose to call his own plays. Zorn said he was calling plays in the 2 min lol

Excellent! Welcome to the club. I've gotten Sunday Ticket for years now and it's fantastic watching the Skins every week even if they are victory challenged right now.

'Skins have lost by an average of like, only a touchdown or less per game this season. It's a thin line between being in the hunt for the playoffs and people laughing at you. I saw a lot of good things from the 'Skins on Sunday, just gotta stop steppin' on those banana peels. Hope springs eternal in 2010 --- to use the words of Drew Brees maybe it's just our time.
