General Manager/Head Coach brainstorm

Okay, this week's win aside, Jim Zorn will not be back as HC. That leaves the question, who will it be? Who will be the next GM?
Here's some names I've been thinking of since Gruden re-upped at ESPN.
HEAD COACHES
Cam Cameron, OC, Baltimore Ravens- Former Redskins QB coach who's only season as a head coach in the NFL ended in a 1-15 season for the Dolphins. Of course you can't blame the man for 15 losses and before that he was a highly sought after HC candidate.
Russ Grimm, Assistant HC/Run Game Coordinator, Arizona Cardinals- Former Hog and quick rising football mind. Has had success in Pittsburgh and Arizona and could be one of the elite HC prospects. Do we have the inside track in Washington?
Mike Shannahan, Former HC, Denver Broncos- Great offensive mind and a very good GM... for the offensive side of the ball. The guy was a great personnel man when it came to building an offense, but his defenses always stunk. He'd need a strong DC who could have their own say in the offense.
Bill Cowher, Former HC, Pittsburgh Steelers- Most often connected to the Carolina coaching job but may consider Washington. Only 50 with just 3 losing seasons in his career. May need a GM to work with him.
Brian Billick, Former HC, Baltimore Ravens- Last coached in 2007 and had a good run as a Superbowl winning coach. Great offensive mind who ran a team featuring one of the best defenses in the league.
GENERAL MANAGERS
Bobby DePaul, Director of Pro Personnel, Chicago Bears- DePaul worked for years in Washington and elsewhere before gaining his current job in 2001. Mike Shannahan is a big name possibly going to Chicago and it's possible DePaul may no longer be needed.
Bruce Allen, former General Manager, Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Allen was he head of the personnel department for 4 years in Tampa Bay and had some success there. I like a guy who learns from his mistakes though, just because he never won a Super Bowl doesn't mean he can't be successful in Washington.
George Kokinis, former General Manager, Cleveland Browns- Yes, the Browns are terrible... but Kokinis had only been the General Manager for 8 games! Since 2003 he was the Director of Pro Personnel in Baltimore. He did a great job in that role, and is still an elite GM prospect.
-----
Does anyone else have more names to add to the list?

I would LOVE Cowher as the HC and Grimm as a OC. I believe Grimm and Cowher have deep ties and if he comes as the OC it would be sweet. He could work with the OL too. It would take us back to Redskins football....not this WC Offense crap!

I dont think Grimm will take a job anywhere if he isnt the head coach...

GM - Condie Rice
Coach - Joe Paterno. He holds the college win record now, time to start working on the pro record before he's too old!

Dude, I will not watch the Redskins if they hire Billick. Although he has the rep of an offensive genius, his offenses in Baltimore consistently stunk. The dude benefited from having one of the best defenses of all time, and that team won in spite of their offense.
Plus he believes he's the smartest man alive, and most possibly is the most smug person I've ever heard being interviewed.

Pulpexposure -- I agree, Billick thinks he's the smartest man alive, but I have good, solid information that VP Biden is actually that man!

I think Grimm might come to the skins IF Cowher is HC. He and Cowher are boys and Washington was his team. Just a thought...

Russ Grimm isn't even available as a OC. He is the assistant HC of the Cardinals, he would not (and cannot due to contractual obligations) even take the OC job. Russ Grimm is available as a HC ONLY.

We need a GM and a Head Coach

I think a big question is who will be hired first, a GM or a HC? It seems like this franchise, that has only 1 season with 10 or more wins since pretzel boy bought the team, is always going in different directions. This is evident by coordinators being hired BEFORE the HC.
Danny needs to fire Vinny and hire a GM and let that person choose the next HC or else I don't think anything will change, we'll be in a constant "Quest for Average".
I know Danny Boy has said he's learned from past mistakes but it doesn't seem like it to me. How this offseason is handled will tell me if he has or not.

I agree. Billick is not the answer.

I would support the following as coaches under specific circumstances.
1. Cowher
2. Gruden
3. Shanahan
4. Holmgren
5. Grimm
I pick Cowher first because he would most likely bring in a GM of his liking. Same would most likely be true for Gruden.
Shanahan and Holmgren might want to be GM and Coach. I do not like one man doing GM and Coach. If Shanahan and Holmgren can lure a good GM then I am all for it.
If Grimm knows a good GM and can bring him with him then he would be my first choice. However there are far too many unknowns with Grimm.
I fear Snyder may just embarrass one of our cherished Redskins.
If Grimm demands to come in and do it his way. Then I support it.
If Grimm just accepts the job and is willing to work with Vinny and Snyder as the player personnel descision makers then I say NO.
Of course this all depends on whether these guys actually want to come coach under Snyder and Vinny.

With Chris Polian being named GM...What does that mean for his father??? Any chance he's looking for another rebuilding project??

I am hoping for a coach that is selected by a new GM
I will fully support the Redskins next year (no matter who the coach is) with Snyder & Cerrato, et al continuing to run the team aspects but I will not be surprised to see a mediocre product on the field - a new coach and a bunch of new players - OL, QB, LBs, CBs & kickers - will not make much difference here with these 2 bozos running things
We will have an "
I'm Stupid, I believe in Snyder - Idiots List" for anybody that thinks this team will be successful if Snyder is still involved with
anything to do with the team - he can own the franchise but until he turns the team stuff over to NFL people that know what they are doing, this franchise will not have a consistently competive product on the field
An NFL GM who has control and with Snyder's support, would do wonders here
HAIL

As counter examples that it's
possible I'd point to Jerry Jones and George Steinbrenner. I agree he's got serious issues and needs to make some serious changes in the way he owns. But if you really, truly believe this then in all seriousness change your allegiance because he's going to own this team for the next 40 years. I'm not slamming you, I'm just saying you're going to be unhappy.

point taken - let me be clear - unlike some here, I want Snyder to be the owner here. I think we could do worse, not much worse, but ....
I don't see him not being the owner here. I just want him to get away from the part that has anything to do with the players and coaches.
I understand that there is a very good chance that the situation here might not change and Snyder will bring in a (most likely great) coach and will continue to be involved with the team - he might even keep Cerrato - all that will mean to me is that we will continue to have a team that will not be consistenly competitive and anyone that supports the way the team has been managed is just a "Sucker for Snyder"
I am just hoping that he will see that the way he has run this franchise is not going to give us any possible chance for putting a consistently competitive team on the field
I do feel his ego will not let him do that but I can hope
I am only pointing out that I will continue to support the players and coaches and hope for us to be lucky enough to win a few games - we know we will not have a chance at deserving to win games because we are the better team on the field while he and his buddies continue to manage the players and coaches who come in here
anyone that thinks that this franchise can be successful while Snyder is in control of everything is just kidding themselves and deserves to be called out for it - you can support the players and coaches - conversely, you should put down and ridicule the idiots that are running things here and anyone who thinks that is going to bring success to this franchise
btw - thinking it will bring success AND hoping it will but knowing it most likely will not, are two different things
it would be so easy to make things better here but I'm fairly sure it will not happen
btw - Steinbrenner is a slime bucket and will always be worse than scum - IMO

I think we need a HC with a strong personality...enough of the good guys trying to be a players coach. We need Gruden or Shanahan or Bill..I like Sherm Lewis as OF ... he is making this offense go!!!! We need to get rid of our current Sherm OC and we also need a new DC..

Are you saying that you think a new really great head coach, a new OC, a new DC and a bunch of really great players are going to help this team, even though the guy in charge is Snyder (and possibly Cerrato)?

If Gary Kubiak gets fired, what about Mike Shannahan as GM and Kubiak as HC? Shannahan was excellent at building an offense in Denver. Maybe with a strong DC, or defensive guys in his personnel department we'll have a winner.

What on Earth makes you think that Kubiak is a good choice for HC? Sounds like a wild gamble to me. Then again, many would have said that Joe Gibbs was a wild gamble first time around. But even more would have said that Zorn was a wild gamble.
I'm tired of wild gambles.
And I just can't see why anybody would consider Shanahan as GM. There really aren't many successful NFL head coaches who move on to be successful general managers - they require different skill sets.

I want Grimm. With a new GM.
