What are you rooting for???????

Tell me, what are you rooting for....
A) For the team to run the table and go to the playoffs. Zorn stays, Vinny stays and the entire front office structure stays as is, but hey, it's a playoff birth.
B) For the Skins to turn it around and finish at 7-9 or 8-8. Consequenses are that Zorn may stay, but most likely a new coach comes in at the end of the season, but Vinny definately stays and the team continues to build. Front office stays as is.
C) That the Skins pull out 2-3 more wins and finish at 4-12 or 5-11. Zorn is gone, Vinny is gone, and a new coach is brought in (like a Gruden) who does anything Snyder says. Much of the players remain the same.
D) We lose all remaining games (maybe pull out the Raider game) but everyone is gone. Zorn...gone, Vinny...gone, old and overpriced Players...gone, Coaching staff...gone. A new President of football operations is brought in to keep Snyder at arms length. He hires a budding GM who in turn brings in a top flight coach. Rebuild through the draft and we suck bad for 2 years.
I hate to root for losses here, but the worse it gets, the better chances of a complete overhaul. No pain no gain...I'm for D, because if we keep our Defense, we can get this ship righted in two years or less.

I am betting that D happens, except Vinny stays, and even if he doesn't the structure of the FO does.

a better team next year minus vinny.

Win out. Wanting the Redskins to lose, ever, is unacceptable. Let the front office worry about long term success. As a fan, just root for your team to win.

I'm hoping that we can find a way to win this week - I know that we have not seen much to like but I'm still hoping that the team can find a way to play better together
BUT - I'm not sure why anyone could think that having a better position (by 3 or 4 slots) in the draft rounds is going to result in helping this team improve
some of you here would be a lot worse at finding players to help this team than Cerrato
and he's an idiot

I have be honest here...while I do want the Skins to win...I don't want it to validate Vinny and Danny...this is what DS wants so badly to show us all that HE can win this way. So I guess if losing means a change...

READ the question people:
chiefhog44 wrote:Tell me, what are you rooting for....
He is not asking for a prediction. He is not asking you what you hope for. He is not asking about your expectations.
The question is as simple as its answer:
I alwyas have, do and will root for the success of my team. I root for them to WIN every game and even enter into each one of them with a desire to see them earn the win or fight until the last whistle fighting for old DC.
Do I harbour great expectations for suceess? Hell, I have not had such expectations for a few years now. And those of you who feel that supporting a bigger failure in any way, shape or form is a guarantee for substantial and positive changes at the top ...
... quite frankly are playing with fire. There is no guarantee that such scenario would not make the Danny even more entrenched in his ways as a matter of EGO.

It's just silly to ALWAYS root for the team to win. What benefit would winning bring the Skins? They need a new QB, a new HC and a new GM among other things and wins might compromise that. Hell, I hope they lose every game for the rest of the year. It's the only way any substantive changes can take place.
Think Snyder will fire Vinny after a 8-8 or 7-9 season with a second half resurgence? Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't... but after another 4-12 or 5-11 season? Since 2000 we're 68-83. This is a broken franchise why root for them to win a few meaningless games?
We need a high pick to get Williams or Okung, we need a real GM who can rebuild our patchwork line, we need dramatic change... and we'll just get more of the same if we pull it out and finish .500

I will be rooting for the team to win each game because they are my team
for anyone (like the poster above) to think that this team has a chance of finishing 7-9 or 8-8 is just ludicrous from what we have seen the past 7 games - some people just don't get it - the reason for all the angst is that this team is not possibly going to suddenly find iteslf - WAKE UP

we can only hope that we lose Cerrato and maybe ..... oh well!!!!

I'm conflicted to my core with this. I feel we are finally at a place where the Big Picture ills might finally be addressed.
But we've seen that the Snyder Ego is so big, so impenetrable that a 7-9 or 8-8 season isn't strong enough ammunition to break through and deliver the necessary message. All that does is reinforce the notion that the team is one or two key pieces away from real contendership.
Heck, that might have even been true. But this organization hasn't had qualified piece-finders to make that step happen.
If it takes 3-13, 4-12 to deliver the message, I'm gonna grin an bear it.
To paraphrase Mr. Spock from Star Trek II:
"The needs of the future outweigh the needs of this year."

So I guess being a fan means becoming the decider with the God's-eye view, who is all-knowing about whether a loss will help the team more in the long run than a win?
I like it better when fans support their team.

If Snyder can't see what the real problem is, that is his problem. Why are you so confident that a 3-13 year will be the cure?

We're going to get more of the same if we go 1-15. Better to be a good fan and cheer for the team to win, through thick and thin.

Yeah I'm with you. I can understand fans trying to find some comfort in losses. Maybe it means a better draft pick or that we're one step closer to getting rid of Vinny.
But if you're going to hope we lose on Sunday, you might as well just be a Dallas fan.

FYI.. we dont have to lose games to get good draft picks, we just need to UTILIZE our picks properly, something VC & DS can't seem to do.

Don't try and lay that on me like I'm not a true fan because I don't support the current product on the field. I love the franchise and I'll never support another football team. The Washington Redskins are my team for better or for worse but that doesn't mean I have to root for a meaningless win every Sunday... I root for them to turn it around and become a perennial double digit winner. I root for the Redskins to have a competent football operations department, I root for them to have a great run as Super Bowl contenders...
But I cannot root for a strong finish to the season. What good would it do? I just hope they get through the season healthy, no injuries... with an eye towards next season. The Redskins always seem think they're "one player away" but we're not. We're like a house built without a foundation. Lots of great futures, but nothing to support them, no long term viability and lots of repairs.
So if you root for a win every week, that's fine... and if I don't that's fine too. We're both fans... but I want more than these .500 seasons. More than 5 win seasons. I want a string of playoff appearances.

Go onto Wikipedia and look at the drafts the last 10 years and see how many picks the Redskins have traded. It's absurd.

Ah, yes, the "don't question my fanhood card"

. . . I knew this would make an appearance in this thread sooner or later. Too bad I wasn't questioning anyone's fanhood. This thread
asks for opinions on what is the best thing for fans to cheer for. You disagree with me, I disagree with you, but I'm the one who's questioning fanhood?

Am I not allowed to opine that the better strategy as fans is to cheer the team and root for a win? Damn. And it made so much sense to me at the time.

I root for them to turn it around and become a perennial double digit winner. I root for the Redskins to have a competent football operations department, I root for them to have a great run as Super Bowl contenders...
That's cool, and maybe you've got some magic calculator that tells you how many losses we need to get a high enough draft pick to turn things around. I can't dispute your calculations; I can only wonder at them.
But see, here's what goes through my head: let's say we lose on purpose, or don't try hard enough to win because we give up on the season. Maybe we're doing some strange utilitarian calculation that going winless from here on out improves our chances for next year. Whatever.
Then we draft in a top spot, and we get the equivalent of a Ryan Leaf or Heath Schuler. (Or heck, a Mike Williams from 2002 or whenever it was he was drafted.)
You can't know this stuff in advance. So planning for it strategically is pointless, IMO, and in the meantime losing does much to harm the mentality, morale, and structure of an organization.
The Redskins always seem think they're "one player away" but we're not. We're like a house built without a foundation. Lots of great futures, but nothing to support them, no long term viability and lots of repairs.
This is not what is at issue here, and therefore has ZERO bearing on cheering for the team to win / lose next year. A team does not need a top-5 pick to develop into a winner.
So if you root for a win every week, that's fine... and if I don't that's fine too. We're both fans... but I want more than these .500 seasons. More than 5 win seasons. I want a string of playoff appearances.
You can think it's fine, but I don't agree that it's a "fine" strategy. Not calling you not a fan or questioning your loyalty. I just think you're choosing a COMPLETELY ineffectual path.

I always root for the Skins to win. If that can't happen, then I root for a complete change of personnel (which is what this team needs right now).
