No this isn't a posting of Dwayne Johnston former Miami Hurricane DE turned "The Rock" of WWE, but Rock Cartwright FB/HB of our beloved Washington Redskins. Rock is a young gun on the rise and as far as I'm concerned we should say thanks, good bye, and good luck to Johnson. My case is simple, during the past season in Spurrier's Fun-n-Gun offense there wasn't much of a case for a running back to really get the chance to excel. Rock had the second highest rushing yards in our dismal running game. Second to Trung Candidate who meerly didn't live up to the hype that Snyder brought him here for. Could Trung succeed under Gibbs? Sure he could, but will more than likely be cut or traded to have Betts and Morton take the role of the 3rd down back or the set of fresh legs off the sidelines to give Portis an occasional breather. Back to the Rock, Cartwright is young, is very cheap contractual wise, and may really have a decent shot at a Pro Bowl caliber season in Gibbs/Bugel's offense. So I say good ridance to Spurrier, good luck to Trung and Johnson, welcome to the draft picks they bring and lets rally around the kid that will be in the back field with Portis for the next few years. If it doesn't pan out, well then we'll replace him like all the others that do there one stop shopping in DC and don't fit the bill of being a true Redskin. Finaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllly the Rock has come backkkkk to DC.

Gibbs may not run the same offense he did way back when, but if he runs the TE/H-back offense of the eighties we don't need two FB's anyway. I don't think we get a draft pick for Johnson though, and I do think he was the better blocker of the two.

I, too, think Rock is a keeper. I think the guy has a lot of hidden potential.

While he won't probably ever measure up to Portis, Trung got a bad deal last year and people are criticizing him for a freak injury that would hamper most people walking down the street.

I feel bad for him in a way.

im just curious but what injury did trung have? I dont know if they cut him yet but i know he is an extreamly fast man and i saw on a few occasions where he made quite a few people miss. Ide like to see a way where they could incorperate him into the offence some how

High ankle sprain. Had one of those for about a year. It takes a long time to heal if you don't stay off it. When an athlete picks up one of those baddies...It doesn't sound nearly as bad as it feels.

I think Rock Cartwright is a great guy to keep around. I think that Trung is a good back to catch out of the backfield and I could imagine the speed of the backfield on a third down with both he and Portis out there.

I think that we won't miss BJ much with Rock back there other than just the size of the man. He was a good lead blocker who wouldn't get as overwhelmed by a big defender, which is the one thing that worries me about Rock.

I think what we may be looking at here is that Trung was short handed by Spurrier last year and may be huge behind Portis in the Depth chart this year. Hard tellin at this point who will stay on the roster other than Portis when it comes to the "backs". Betts may be the man who carries the extra bulk. I think Cartwright, Betts, and Trung are all good backs as could be Morton. The finacal side of it would show Trung to be the first to go, seeing that Morton is our return specialist.

I suspect that Trung C.'s future depends on how well he can catch a pass. Gibbs usually has a smaller, faster, good receiving RB. Call it the "Joe Washington / Kelvin Bryant" position. Good for a change of pace, like a pitcher changing speeds, and to give the big horse RB a breather.

Great point. Trung is a fairly decent recieving back, but how will he fit in the Gibbs offense? So many questions and too long til we find out

Don't mind me. I like what I think he could do, but I'm not totally sold on passing the baton to him just yet. Opinions do change, though. Let's see what Don Breaux thinks.
He knows a thing or two about RB's.

Time will only tell, and he certainly knows quite a lot about backs

I never could figure out why Spurrier used Trung and Ladell like he did. Don't you think he should have rushed the "speedier" back to the outside and run Ladell (who's bigger) up the middle?.

I'm sorry to disagree with you, but I think that Johnson is the all around better FB. I would rather keep him than Cartwright. Johnson can block and catch better than Cartwright. The Rock is a little more solid on the ground, but overall Johnson is better.

Thats a good point but I think that Cartwright has a lot of upside. Besides we'll get another 5th round pick for Johnson.

No we won't. Minimum offer for an undrafted rookie = no compensation. And much as I like Rock, I think Bryan was a better blocker and had better hands.

I personally love Rock, he's my height but weights something like 240. This guy is solid as can be and tough as heck. He reps the little guys like myself, hes 5'7 by the way (sure you know this) Rock is just what his name implies.
