WUSA says Skins prohibiting tailgate interviews
Since I mentioned this on Twitter, might as well put it here, too. I was watching WUSA-9's 11 pm Tuesday night broadcast, and after a piece about Redskins fan dissatisfaction and the recent ban on signs, the program cut back to anchor Derek McGinty in the studio.
"Tonight the Redskins have seemingly escalated things again; they've banned media interviews with tailgating fans on FedEx Field property," McGinty said. "They told our sports director Brett Haber that this has always been team policy, but when he pointed out that we and other stations, including their very own broadcast partners, have in fact always talked openly to tailgaters, there was, well let's just say, no further explanation."
I suppose I'll try to follow up on this Wednesday.

It's getting ridiculous. Doesn't Dannyboy know that he cannot quiet the fans? We wil be heard! More and more anti-Snyder websites will be made and ultimately, he's hurting his own team.
This leaves a lot of people with a dilemma: how to get the message across and still support our players, who are just a victim of circumstance in all of this? I know I don't have the answer.

How does The Danny think any of this will help? It just makes it worse and worse.

Oh, and the stuff about security trying to quiet the fans were true as well. People in our section were harrased by security for yelling things like; DS sucks, Fire Cerrato. When security did come up and tell people to quiet down, plenty of fans cursed out security but no one got kicked out though (at least in my viewing area)

I think the more and more he alienates the fans, the louder they are going to become. They want the owner to acknowledge their mistakes.
I think back to the John Cooke interview where they let the fan's be fan's. At some point you have to be accountable and this is part of the process of fan's venting. Let them vent. You are already the laughing stock of the NFL. It can't get much worse.

All Snyder is doing is patronizing all of us and trying to treat us like the rest of his members in the redskins organization. It will not work Snyder! You do not sign our paychecks and we cannot be shut down. All hail to proverbial power of the 1st Amendment.

I don't think he understands that the FANS pay him. He will have nothing and his estate will collapse if he doesn't stop suing fans, attempting to get them arrested for wearing T-shirts that say nothing offensive and making people throw away signs saying HELLO TO HER HUSBAND IN AFGHANISTAN. BASTARD!!!!

An ongoing comedy of errors ... one blunder followed by another even bigger ...
Now the fans are the ENEMY. Nice going Danny.
And we thought that the days of the Soviet Union were over ...
I am laughing so hard and shaking my head that I cannot think of more self-destructing PR moves.
Well, what to do???
I USED to be the loudest perennial getting-tired of it all anti-Snyder poster in this board. I received so many angry and dismissive responses over the years. Several of us had our fanhood and loyalty to the team questioned.
And now, I seem to be the MODERATE and REASONABLE guy. A whole bunch of you seem to have gone well beyond my wildest expectations.
Well, welcome to the Rebellion. Now, with measures like this one, it is clear who the Evil Empire is. Welcome to the Rebellion even if I am only one among many stream fans by now.
Sheeeeesh ... I have to think of something more radical now ...
Protest posts? ... done
Protest blogs? ... done
Protest videos? ... done
Protest editorials? ... done
Protest T-Shirts? ... done
Protest Websites? ... done
Protest petitions? .... done
Protest Signs? ... done
Protest Interviews? ... done
Protest questions in the Uncensored Brian Mitchell show? ... done
I am thinking give me a little time ...
I am thinking along the lines of a new protest video or cartoon ... mmmmm

What a moron. Banning the people that pay YOU for that parking pass to tailgate and pay YOU for a ticket to see YOUR terrible product. How insane does that sound?

As everyone else is noting, this is just a new low in a series of PR blunders that have revealed Snyder for who he is.
At least this means Snyder is aware of how people feel about him. I'm pretty sure that for the last 5-6 years he really was insulated from the fan's opinions by the yes-men he surrounds himself with. I honestly think he has never really known how fans feel until this season. We are making progress.

Did anybody hear that David Donovan guy on the Mike Wise show yesterday? He was on there complaining about all of the negative press from the Washington Post.
Clearly they don't deserve any negative press.
What a bunch of a**hats.

What a condescending, pompous [word that belongs in Smack].
But the media folk know there's more than one place to interview PO'd Redskins fans.
Get em walking up Morgan Boulevard from the Metro.
Get em in the cash lots on the other side of the Beltway -- or walking over the Arena Drive bridge.
Somebady can't stand the heat ... and he's kicking the cooks out of the kitchen instead of leaving his own **** self.

There seems to be an update ... that the "no interviews in the lots" policy has apparently been in effect for the entirety of FedEx's existence.

In fairness, he didn't HAVE to go on the air with Wise.
After listening to the entire interview, I gave kudos to Donovan for publicly taking the hits for his organization and defending it in ways that we had not heard before.
Rightfully he took the post to task for some of the negative (and, apparently, hastily reported) and inflammatory reports that have come out in recent months.
As for banning interviews of tailgaters, does this mean they will have to cut their sponsorship deal with that company that celebrates the"best tailgaters. (anyone know what I'm talking about?)

Man this is unheard of. Since when can you ban the media from talking to the tailgaters. I have never heard of such actions done by any ownership.
I remember when the Lions and Saints used to wear Bags to the games. Still there ownership never banned fans from bringing in signs or anything like that. This is getting ridiculous.

C'mon, guys and gals!! Can't you see???!!!
It's not his imposing NEW tyrannical policies, it's him REPEALING the irresponsible lack of enforcement of the existing policies.
(I borrowed that defense strategy from our current Speaker of the House.
