Today’s Storyline
Sweet connection – Washington’s affiliation with the Hershey Bears has paid dividends since 2005, with the Capitals’ top prospects earning valuable experience and winning two Calder Cup championships. The Capitals saw another benefit by recalling two AHL veterans yesterday who stepped right in to the lineup and produced Washington ’s second goal against the Thrashers. Alexandre Giroux and Keith Aucoin finished 1-2 in AHL scoring last season and showed why, with Aucoin faking a slapshot before finding Giroux on the far side of the ice for a wrist shot and a goal. The third member of their line, captain Chris Clark, scored the eventual game-winning goal in the second period.
