This is a bit over the top, but there is some really cool stuff in the video. Worth watching.

Chris Brown of Smart Football turned us on to this SportScience video about Drew Brees' uncanny passing accuracy -- watch it and be amazed:

Yes, Brees is standing a lot closer to that target than the Olympic archers would be, but the fact that he was able to hit such a small area with such precision and consistency goes a long way toward explaining how a 6'0" 2nd-round draft pick with a surgically-repaired throwing shoulder was able to become arguably the best pure passer in the game this season. (BTW, Chris has another post about Brees and one of his favorite plays here.)

I can't help but think about how he was a free agent when we traded for Mark Brunell.

Now that would have been money well spent! Although I don't think he could be what he is with the Saints here with a terrible O-Line, but it would still be much better than what we have.

Huh? Brees was under contract with the Chargers until the end of the 05 season (when the Skins traded for Brunell, the Chargers were so confident in Brees at QB that they drafted Eli Manning #1 overall despite the fact that he'd all but publically stated that he'd refuse to play for them).

Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but I don't see how the Skins could have been expected to anticipate that Brees would be a free agent at the end of the 05 season (which would have meant not drafting Campbell) or, really, spending the kind of money that Brees was demanding given the injury to his throwing shoulder.

Nice if it did happen, sure, but not very realistic.

I've always liked that show! Unfortunately I don't get to see it as often as I'd like.

That was a cool episode.

I like the one they did with Ovie and Olie showing the reaction time of an NHL goaltender!
