In the postgame as I was leaving the stadium, Andre Carter said that Albert Haynesworth was the emotional guy after the game talking to the telling that that they had to "man-up" and take personal responsibility.
BTW, if one guy did his job today, it was Fat Albert. The guy was everywhere all day and made everyone on the defense better. Everyone except Carlos Rogers, that is.

You're nuts. The guy played 90% of the snaps and blew up his man on every play. Look at the pass rush this year compared to last year. Andre Carter couldn't get close to the QB last year. This year, he looks like Dwight Freeney...and it's not because he got any better. I'll give you one hint...the guy wears number 92 and he's 3 times bigger than anybody else on the defense.

go ahead.

Nor do I..I just thought the media would say something.
And yes Albert is playing ball he is a beast look at the sacks totals. Philly O-Line looked bad today we should be able to take advantage of that.

He's played the bulk of the defensive snaps in the last two games.

Worth forgoing the line, no. I'm not sure anyone on here would think that, but he's a monster in there. He kept us in this game today...singlehandedly. No doubt about that

Please don't fly the "haynesworth was worth $100mil because he was solid against THE CHIEFS.
Please. people. Lets be real. Who has he been disrupting?
The Panthers?
The Chiefs?
COME ON!! The guy needs an injury TO and his own oxygen tank EVERY GAME.
WASTE OF MONEY.
What else should we expect from the Capital.

So I guess you believe all of our pass rushers got ALOT better in the offseason? We are currently tied for 5th in the league in sacks.... did we even have 15 sacks last yr?
The last question was a joke but only uneducated football minds who look at the stat sheets instead of the games will say Haynesworth has nit been earning his money.
When we signed him I was not sure about it, but lemme say he has made me a believer. Our Dline looks the best it has since I can remember and Carter looks like a pro bowler out of the blue. Orakpo looks great and even Wilson looked good today.
Th reason for this was not because they learned new moves in the offseason or something, its because they are now being single teamed while fat AL takes up 2 blockers.

We had the 4th ranked defense last year. that certainly wouldn't warrant spending $100 million on one guy who may or may not give us 16 games. or 50% of 16 games.
don't drink the coolade bro. please.

I'm somewhere between you two... Haynesworth seems to be playing well. The D-Line play is greatly improved (our pass rush was terrible last year).
But is he worth $100 million? Probably not. What are we giving up by spending that much on Haynesworth? Is it O-line depth?
Still, I would point at Hall's contract if we're talking about truly ridiculous spending... it's huge and Hall is terrible.

I would rather have Hall than haynesworth.

You just lost ALL cred with that post. While I liked the Hall signing, he has been garbage this year. Haynesworth though, has been great.

i agree. hall sucks, fat albert is a stud. He's also young, so if the skins can somehow take advantage of his youth, ala, get a frickin OLine and real QB together in the next two years, he may be worth it.
Yeah, our defense was 4th last year, but as usual it was a bend but don't break defense. The only reason it was 4th, is because the other team only had to score 18 points to beat us 80% of the time.

Not all of the Cheifs mostly just Brian Waters (Pro Bowl Guard) and who everelse double up on him. Big Al would be mentioned as Defensive MVP if the Skins were 4-1 with the Offense scoring. Instead they give up safties, fumbles, 3rd downs and leave the D hanging.

Let's get a couple of things straight...
(1) The guy was signed for $100M on paper only. In reality it was only about 4 yrs $48M, the rest is fake money to drive up the cost of the contract and make the agent look good a la Nate Clements, the $100M Cornerback.
(2) The choice was never sign Haynesworth or sign an Offensive Line. Name me five O-Linemen of any worth that were moved in the off season (outside of Dockery since he came to the Skins). I can only think of Matt Birk, Jordan Gross, Stacy Andrews and Jason Smith. You built O Lines through the draft...something we have neglected for years.
(3) The Defense while managable, didn't get off the field or create TOs. At least now teams have to act like they respect our pass rush. If we had a DB outside of D. Hall who could catch an INT, we would have more TOs than we currently do.
(4) Haynesworth is playing hard now. I know its hard to believe for those who want to think that he's the second coming of Big Daddy WIlkinson or Dana Stubblefield, but if you watch the game you'll see that the guy has played really hard the passed two games. BTW, on the play where Carlos Rogers whiffed and let Bowe go 40 yd down the field to ice the game, besides D. Hall only two other players made it down the field to stop the TD. London Fletcher and Haynesworth.
Now, I agree, these are two terrible teams that Haynesworth has performed against these past two weeks, but he showed sustained effort, something I can't say about our coaching staff.

Like the OL, the DL was neglected for a long time. How many defensive linemen have we drafted since 1994? Haynesworth has certainly helped, but there are problems with bringing in a guy like him as a FA.
First, by not drafting guys like him, we end up paying the big money when he is really expensive. It would be much better to have a guy like Haynesworth early on in his career when he is still relatively affordable. You only find people like that by drafting them.
Second, too much is riding on his shoulders. What happens if he gets hurt? What happens when he comes out? What happens when the defense is on the field for 35+ minutes per game? Lack of depth is deadly.
I would rather have 6 or 7 very good starting caliber defensive linemen than 1 or 2 stars mixed with some average or below average guys who have passed their prime.
The same is true on offense. Better to have 6 or 7 solid guys than two hurting pro bowlers and a bunch of average or practice squad guys.
The team needs to trade first round picks either for proven players or for more picks.
