Snyder

Snyder - his name has become a curse word in my vocab.
I've been a Skins fan since birth. Cried when they lost Superbowl Seven and I was Seven years old. Found guidance as a troubled teen through class act Joe Gibbs and the blue collar attitude. And have stayed connected to 'home' by staying connected to my team.
Now I have to ask with all seriousness - is it time to stop following the Skins? As proud as I have been of the team at it's height - like the 92 Superbowl - I am that disgusted now.
And it's not the record. We've lost a lot in the last 16 seasons. It's that a truly unlikable man owns the team and his personality seeps into every bit of the team.
I can root for Portis and Hall and Westbrook and even Batiste. But there is nothing to like about Dan Snyder. And he is the Redskins.
WORST OF ALL he repeats the same mistakes over and over and over - Spurrier/Zorn, Haynesworth/Smith, Vinny/Vinny.
And WORSE THAN THAT he will more than likely own the team for the rest of my life.
Dan - I'm a diehard and you've lost me.

I hear you. I can't say I will ever be able to stop watching or supporting the team but I certainly am putting a freeze on spending any money. I have tickets to the Broncos game later this year - we will take the train (no parking money) and we will not buy a single thing in the stadium.
It hurts to see the franchise in the shape it is in. You talk about Joe Gibbs when you were a teenager and I feel similarly to that. The 1991 Superbowl was played the day before my 17th birthday on is one of the only memories I have from that time period because I lost my mother to a brutal battle with Cancer. That Joe Gibbs team provided me some comfort in the darkest period of my life and the Danny has soiled that legacy.
I am sure there are fans of other teams that have had to deal with this. The Raiders and Lions come to mind. But I have the double whammy of having to have The Danny and Peter Angelos ruin both teams of my youth.
Someday it will be better for the Orioles because Angelos is old but Snyder is what, 44? Ugh and ugh.

The Lions, at least, are the first of the three to hit the reset button and start over by finally punting on Matt Millen. The reason is probably because William Clay Ford never had Walter Mitty fantasies of himself being a football guy.
Al Davis and Dan Snyder have different forms of disillusionment -- one's senile and one's egotistically stubborn -- but neither seems ready to do the right thing and abdicate their role in the roster-building process.

Protesting with our wallets is the best option. I'm the kind of guy with a 'football room' filled with Skins trinkets from lamps to coozies.
It's all going into storage.
I do want to add to my post. If Dan was to ask me what he needed to do to keep my business - this is my answer:
1. Talk to the media. They will ask the questions I want answered. You are too involed to ignore them/us.
2. Apologize for past mistakes - suing fans, forced parking, ignoring media, firing good people. We will embrace you.
3. Change your front office structure. It's your team. But your track record is not good. Work smarter, not more expensive, and build us a history we can believe in win or lose.
4. I think Vinny is a good guy. He's put in time and effort for the team. But it's not working. Find a role for him where he will thrive, he deserves to be part of the team, but right now it's not working and as his boss that's your fault. Fix it.
5. Become a man we can be proud of - Coach Gibbs doesn't lie, so I believe him when he supports you, but what I see is very unlikable. Embrace the fans. You need to pal around with us, not Tom Cruise or Portis or the like. We're permanent. We'll go down or up with you. If you embrace us.
That's what I'd ask. A big ego can be fantastic - Kent Cooke was a skyscraper of ego. We loved him win or lose or Raljon.
Think anyone within six offices of him will read this? No. That's a shame.

Amen brotha! We here in the West Coast truly understand the myopic nature that is Al Davis; and we fans from other franchises would mock the Faiders for supporting the team while their owner wasted season after season.
Well, lo and behold, the chickens have indeed come home to roost. I now have to live with the incessant derision that was only afforded to the Al Davis and his pathetic team.
Thanks Dan, much appreciated.
Here's the deal: Get me a solid head coach! Not from college, not a previous coordinator, not a retread. I want a coach with a WINNING record.
And if that coach has the guts to come here and coach the Skins, then he'll quickly realize that we need an experienced person running the FO. Call that person whatever you want Dan. If GM makes you feel like you been neutered then name the poor guy assistant to the towel boy; whatever, just get one.
This will start the rebuilding of this team in a direction where you will start to get some fan support.
And dont worry Dan, we are patient. We can wait 2-3 years while the Skins rebuild, but not with high paid players, but through the DRAFT.
Only a winning coach you has an exprienced football man on the FO will take this route.
Otherwise, forget it! All fans are done with this fiasco of a franchise.
HAIL!
