IMPACT rookies? Not here....

While this is not the usual or norm in the NFL, there have been many rookies who have step onto the big field on Sundays and made a quick impact. Just to list a few over the last 3 years:
Joe Flacco
Matt Ryan
A. Peterson
Eddie Royal
DeSean Jackson
Jeremy Maclin
Knowshon Moreno
Johnny Knox
Percy Harvin
Would you care to add a few more? But here's the bigger question:
What up with with our Rooks over the past 2 years?
What does it say about our talent scouts?
What does it say about draft pick staff?

i don't disagree with your questions, but have a few disagreements with some of your quick "impact" rookies...
1) up until today, Maclin hadn't done anything really, grated today he looked good, but that was one game against Tampa Bay, if he puts up respectable numbers for a rookie the rest of the way, then you can call him that...
2) Knox has 190 yards (granted, more than most Redskins WR's); however, 1/3 of those yards came on one play in his first game. again, let's wait to see if he has an impact over the whole season, not just one game...
3) Harvin has 167 yards (insert same comment from Knox); however, again, over 1/4 of those yards came on one play two games ago...
again, i know these players have all probably had more of an impact than the Redskins rookies have over the last two years, not arguing that, however, would not be buying jersey's of the three guys above if they were on my home team quite yet... give them time, and that could be different, but you cannot put them in the same category as Flacco, Ryan, and Peterson... up until this week (believe it was this week), i still had hope for Thomas and Davis (still do have hope in Kelly becoming a more go-to WR)... however, Thomas had 3 catches today, which shows some improvement... Davis on the other hand, even with his 3 catches today, just shows NO potential to me, especially with him fumbling the ball every other time he touches it; not to mention, two games this year Davis has had negative yards receiving...
not calling these guys busts yet, but their not helping themselves on that matter... at the end of the year, i would feel more comfortable making a call on our rookies and 2nd year players... however, if we switch HC at the end of the season, I would give them one more year to see if they would be utilized differently and could produce...

You have all offensive players listed. I believe Orakpo as bad as this team is could have a good shot for NFC rookie D player of the year.

don't look at the O side, they don't believe in playing rookies.... The D however, you can add Horton to that list.

I was going to say both of the two above, and would say that

ey was the last instant impact on offense.

You don't even have to look outside the division..Eagles and Gmen have rookies who contribute Skins and Boyz don't...whats the reason for that

Isn't Orakpo contributing?

I think the Offensive Line is helping a lot of these players.
Flacco lost his left tackle, and has been much less effective his last two games. Sanchez and Ryan have great protection. Look at them go.
Moreno plays in Denver. He has holes the size of a driving range to run through. Peterson is unbelievably talented, but is also helped by probably the best run blocking O-line in the league
As far as the receivers go, they are all fast enough to get separation constantly, unlike Kelly. And they have a tendency to catch the ball, unlike Thomas. Also, they have lines that protect the QB long enough for them to get all the way downfield.
Now lets look at some very talented rookies who aren't lighting it up. Beanie Wells is way more talented than Moreno. No O-line, no progress. Stafford is hurt, how is he going to contribute? They have to max protect him every play so he doesn't get killed. Although he does have the best receiver in the league to throw to.
All I'm saying is that it helps to come into a good situation. While Heyward-Bey was probably drafted too high, what is he going to do in Oakland? Same goes for McFadden. People know they can't throw.

As a defensive end, yes. As a linebacker....not even close.

I don't see why they are hindering the team by putting him at LB. Help this defense and put him at DE where he belongs. Where he has excelled at.

Excel? I'll be happy if more of them show they even belong in the NFL. Only Horton, Orakpo & Jarmon have shown signs that they do.

Sanchez has a line in front of him. Here, he'd be destroyed.
Line first, then the Rookie QB.

i think that coach wanted needed a type of player and that the GM/Snyder wanted another type

Are you guys watching this MNF game. Sanchez is ON FIRE........... and we suck and flail around with this....nevermind.

dude...first of all, Sanchez is standing upright. Second, no one is ever going to make catches like that on this team.
We thought we had a guy in B. Lloyd to make acrobatic catches like that but we all know how that turned out.
....nice rap career.

Yo, Frankie baby.... Braylon was a BUST on 1 team and now is a STUD on another. Wow, go figure. We suck and so does my fantasy team.... I'm in for a long season.
Hey, let's steal Parcells from Miami......nevermind

I'm all for that idea. My understanding is that his contract is up at the end of the year. But you know how he likes to shop for his own groceries.

Orakpo has no shot at NFC Defensive Rookie of the Year as long as they continue to play him out of position. His only shot really will be when they do line him up on his knuckles, he get's a sack. He's a DE for crying out loud. Put this kid on his knuckles and let him do what he's been trained to do in College. He won major awards in College as a DE.
He got burned in coverage by a 2nd rate TE on Sunday and he's still got Celek, Gonzalez, Scheffler, Whitten/Bennett, Celek again, Shockey, Boss, Whitten/Bennett again, and finishes up with Gates. All top-flight TE's he has to try and cover.
Brian Orakpo, IMO, has the potential right now to be our next "Dexter"... I've had conversations with other fans and they have said things like "he too light"; or "he's an athlete that can make plays, he'll be fine at LB".... All a pile of bullocks....
This team and it's fans have been clamouring for years for a stud DE. Carter ain't it. Lavar was it for one year when Marvin Lewis decided to let him chase the ball. The result: 12 sacks and a pro bowl. Then, GW and GB decided to try and make Lavar "Ray Lewis" and because Lavar wasn't feeling playing in an "electric football" style of defense, he got carried the way he did. Now we have that "STUD" in Orakpo and this organization has managing to screw that up.
With his athletic ability, I have no doubts that he would become a good LB but why not build your DL around him and Albert now. That way you have at least one "homegrown" stud on your DL that you can build around. When this kid begins to fill-out and mature, you could be looking at 10+ sacks per season easy.... But the way this organization manages it's talent, this probably won't happen...
