Jim Zorn just went "uh oh"

Jim Zorn said:
“We’re happy to have Sherm’s set of eyes and voice to help us as we continue to find ways to create success on offense,” Head Coach Jim Zorn said. “I am excited to have him on the staff and welcome his input.”
Translation: "Just what I need, another guy looking over my shoulder, in addition to The Little General. I can't wait to get out of here."
I'd think this was a great move, if Sherm Lewis could play Right Tackle.

Paving the way for Holmgren?

I think they are looking for someone to come in and provide some input. This guy doesn't need the job so for him to come in and say what needs to be said is a good thing. I think with the many hat's that Zorn wears (HC, Playcaller and QB Coach) this will allow him to free up his time to focus on other aspects of the team like special teams and defense.

Yep, and a slap in the face for Zorn.

I don't see that at all. If I were Zorn, I would feel a bit relieved. This guy can come in, break film down, help develop a more effective game plan and hopefully put some points on the board.

Nothing wrong with getting some help. Sherm comes from the same coaching family tree as Zorn. So I am sure Zorn will view this as a helping hand, I hope.

Why bring in help for the WCO when the QB you have is ill-suited to run it?

But Zorn was hired to do just that, Frank. "Develop a more effective gameplan". That's the whole reason he came to DC, to innovate.
It's not like Zorn was disconected from the game, like Gibbs was when some other consultants came in.
Zorn's ego aside, I think we can all agree that the move demonstrates something is not right with the Offense, which is Zorn's main responsability.
Look. I've lived the same situation in my line of work and, as old-timer said, you get the feeling someone is watching over your shoulder. And there's alot more chance for communication interference.

I wish they would hire a real GM and then let that guy build out the org. This is just another finger in the dike I think.

Somebody please remind me ... Was Offensive Coordinator the position Zorn was brought in to do in the first place? Just asking ...
What a way to undermine your HC and show him that he does not have the full trust and confidence of the FO anymore.
DESPERATION

Nice acquisition. I hope the guy comes in with the following job discription:
Take over the offense completely as soon as possible. Ignore Zorn's advice when ready, especially in the redzone.

Wouldn't it be something if Mr. Lewis, as the consultant he was brought in to be, came away with the conclusion that much of the problem stems from overrrated, overpaid players that don't show the heart or the extra half a step quickness needed to successfully run the WCO.
In short, the Front Office needs an overhaul. Get us a GM, not an offensive consultant!!!!

Amen brotha, Amen!!
What I have been saying since Zorn was brought here. Square peg, round hole.
Which is why we wanted to trade for a quick release guy during the off season.

Tim Ryan was suggesting this on Sirius NFL last week. I think it was Tim Ryan..may have been Pat Kirwan

This tidbit was on ESPN.com
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4537577
Cerrato said it has not been determined what Lewis' role will be.
"They'll get that figured out here in the next day," Cerrato said.
Cerrato doesn't even know what his role will be yet? Didn't he just hire him?
