Horrible Thought

It is widely believed here in Philly that this is McNabb's last year with the team. They signed Vick when they thought Kolb could not play but it looks like he might - either way, D. Mac is not their man next year unless they go and win the Super Bowl.
I can't imagine a scenerio in which Campbell comes back. Either the team won't sign him or he will run as far and fast as he can from any offer The Danny makes. We all agree Zorn is a gonner.
It is highly llikely a coach from the Holmgran tree (if not him) will be in Washington next year. The team may draft a new QB but I would not be surprised is McNabb were wearing a burgandy and gold Number 5 jersey next year. I really, really hope that does not happen.

While it is my opinion that McNabb is one of the top QBs in the league right now (absent injury), there is no way he will come here next year. Vick is not an every down QB. It has been proven that running QBs don't work in the league. Last year ZERO teams with running QBs made the playoffs (and the Vikings doesn't count). Kolb has proven to be solid, but he is no McNabb.
If McNabb were to come here, he would want major $$$ and we don't have that to give. Also, I believe that this team will draft a QB that will start immediately. McNabb will not come here to be a #2 or a QB that is here only to develop a rookie QB in an attempt to transition them into a starter. He still has a couple good years ahead of him and we need to get younger, not older.

Not sure if the Eagles will let McNabb walk next season. I do feel that the Redskins will hire a new coach and possibly a GM (strong candidates would be Gruden, Holmgren or Shanahan). It would not suprise me if the Skins go for a young QB in the first two rounds of the draft.

There is almost no chance that McNabb is an Eagle next year. For those of you outside of Philly that may not be as clear but everyone knows this is the last go around with McNabb. It is Kevin Kolb or Vick next year, probably Kolb.

I have friends in Texas who say that if things keep going south with Romo he may part ways with the Cowboys at seasons end. Could you imagine him as our QB?

I don't even know what to say to that. If that were to ever happen I do believe it would be the final straw. I could not stomach to see that punk with his hat on backwards checking out the girls in the crowd on the sidelines. You have just made my day that much worse for having to even think about that as a possibility.

Isn't he a tool to watch each week. The cap is always on backwards and he has that smirk grin. I don't want him anywhere around Redskins Park. Pass...

Jerry has way too much money invested in Romo for him not be there next year ...that hat on backwards is so forced and played out..I cant stomach him myself.
I think if Holmgren comes in Redskins will move mountains to get him young QB to groom...and for better or worse we will be married to that option for the next 3-4 years..
Just dont see Mcnabb or any other Vet like QB coming here next year ..with a top 10 draft pick(QB) already on the roster. (which is what we will need to do for Holmgren)

I like McNabb, as long as he never wears a Redskins uniform. That's the last thing we need...bad knees, weak ribs & age.

Skins will not spend an early draft pick on a QB unless they can go pretty close to the top of the board. I wouldn't do it at all. I would make my first 3 picks OL and my last picks OL prospects. It's that critical. Next year should be a rebuilding year, as painful as that sounds. If Campbell fails completely, I'd still let him back up Collins next year or trade him for an additional pick next year. Until we have three first class OL, not two, coming in, we'll not be competitive in the NFL, regardless of whom the QB is.

Fundamentals. I like it. It's not sexy, but it's sound.

It will ultimately depend on the talent pool. More likely than not, the skins will have a top 7 or 8 pick. This upcoming draft has the potential to contain 3-4 franchise QBs. It would be idiotic to not draft one of those guys. JC is gone after this year. And we will not be able to trade JC, since he will be a free agent AND we tried to trade him last year. Not one team in the NFL would trade JC for a 3rd round pick straight up. We have to face the facts that JC is worth nothing on the open market.
Sure we do need OL, but this team needs to go in a different direction, and it should start with the purported "leader", which is the QB. Besides, OLs are built; you can't just draft an entire OL in one year (we all know how that turned out with our WRs). The Bills have two rookie and one 2nd year OLs starting and they are either first or second in sacks allowed this year. You need veterans to supplement the rookies and teach them. The OL is a unit, with each individual OL having their own roles and expectations --- you can't just ask 3 guys to come in and expect results. It is a process. Personally, I believe that if we were to get one solid OT in the draft, we should be fine for next year. An additional guard would be nice, but, like I said, it is a process.
Also, are you saying that we should spend our 1st, 2nd, and 4th on OL? We don't have a third. That wouldn't make sense. We would end up having to cut at least one of those prospects. And if we placed them on the practice squad, we would place ourselves in jeopardy of them getting picked up by another team. Why draft a guy that we know would get cut because we don't have roster space or picked up by another team?

Playing QB in the NFL can be a thankless job.
Especially in DC where the fans have been calling for Dan Snyder's head since he took the reigns from the legendary Jack Kent Cooke.
A quick glance: Anyone want to answer the question of why Cooke is god in Skinland?
He didn't play one lick of football, but gets the credit for the dominating years in the 80's. The hogs, Dave Butz, Charles Mann and my personal fav Mr. Dexter Manley are not going to play in 2009.
We have got to wake up and smell the bitter tasting coffee.
Jason Campbell can win, if the team around him plays well.
With that being said he had a terrible game versus the Bucs.
Yet the Skins' pulled it out. When Jason has a good stastical performance they lose bc of his lack of redzone effiiency.
You can't throw a pass if a running play is called.
Skins' must step it up a notch with the current roster and stop beating themselves with bad penalties and turnovers.
I sincerely hope both Zorn & Campbell can figure it out soon, cuz we need to rebuild the o-line before we can start over with a young QB.

ey is my life coach.

First off, Snyder didn't take over from Jack Kent Cooke. Second, I supported Snyder for at least 5 or 6 years before I woke up and figured out what was happening. I think most people gave Snyder the benefit of the doubt for years, and strangely enough, some still do, although I think they are (finally) a shrinking minority.

Sure. JKC was a genius in business, but he also was very wise in other wasy. He knew a lot, but more importantly, he knew what he did NOT know. We can only wish Snyder was as wise.
JKC hired Beathard. Beathard drafted the lines, and got the skill players as free agents. Beathard also picked Gibbs. It all worked great until Beathard left. Even then it still worked for a few years until the cupboard got bare and Gibbs quit. Unfortunately, nobody quite figured out that Gibbs was a great coach but out of his depth when it came to picking talent.

I think almost any QB can win if he's surrounded by a great team. Campbell has yet to prove he is anything better than average, and considering how frequently he plays very poorly, it's a travesty that he has not been benched ONCE, considering how much more productive our offense was with Collins.

Ramsey was benched for less. Thanks Joe!

Several things - 1) Vick, he may or may not be in the plans for next year but it at least shows the Eagles management is thinking about replacing McNabb; 2) The big restructure and pay day for McNabb in the last offseason where they, at the same time, rewarded him for his service AND moved most of his cap implications to this season thereby enabling them to cut him loose next year in his final year of the contract 3) they want Kolb to be the man or at least battle it out with Vick; 4) the sentiment of the ownership group seems to have lost patience with McNabb/Reid in never winning the big one; 5) McNabb's injury history and age 6) McNabb's insecurities and DIVAness have always made strange bedfellows with the team management; 7) They cut Dawkins the heart and soul of the team (and who may be more responsible for Denver's 4-0 start than anyone) when he still had game because they Eagles management would rather cut you a day early than a day late.

if not for the inprobably run to the NFC Championship last season McNabb would be gone already.
For these reasons I think he is a goner.
