Is losing to the Lions a Good thing for the Skins?

I think a great discussion is…Is the lost to the Lions the wake up call that this team and Dan Snyder in particular needed to get this organization back to where it belongs???

Yes, it is. Will it work? I doubt it.

The public embarrassment and ridicule should send a message.

I felt the Redskins needed a good slap in the face for a wake up call. I actually felt no matter the outcome of the Lions Game The Skins should come back better in week 4. Be it with more Confidence or P*ssed off enough to make a few heads roll. Hopefully they come out against the Bucs angry and aggressive. Hungry for a clear cut W

As long as the team stays mediocre, Snyder wont' change. They have to hit rock bottom and they're on their way there now. lol

Losing is always bad. Danny will never be effected by the teams performance. Sadly it appears as though the most effected part of this organization is the fans. I know weve got some players that really want to give it their all and win, but I think the lack of support for the team is starting to spill into the locker room.

Wait until the 3/4 full stadium boos the team at introductions, the first incompletion, the first sac, the first punt, the first FG, and the first points scored by the Bucs.

Will anyone breakout the Paper bags like Aints fans used to?

How many fire Danny, Vinny, or Zorn signs will there be?

If this fan base really wanted to show how they feel, they would all just stay home. But that said I still think there will be more than 75K fans at the game. And they will cheer when ever a good play is made.

What is bad, the Lions may win more games this year than the Skins.

And No I don't think losing to them is a large enough Cause to create the Effect the team needs; a real GM.

I told myself I wouldnt go to anymore games. However my buddy just invited me to 50 yd line lower level seats and I may just roll into Fedex with a white shirt that says "DANNY SUCKS"

BTW expect to see paper bags, I heard on the radio.

The Danny is too arrogant to hire a real GM. Maybe as he ages he will learn more but he still seems to be a spoiled child at heart who would rather break his toy than share with others.

Shouldn't they have done that after the Rams game?

very true Chris...remember when we hit Bottom in Spurriers last game we got shut out vs Boys ---the Quincy Carter -Troy Hambrick Cowboys mind you

Gibbs was at the podium in 6 weeks....sadly we will need another horrific bottoming out

for serious change...and like Chris said...were on our way

DEHog - the season is 16 games and we have played 3 - Snyder will hopefully leave it up to the team and the coaches to do their thing for the whole season - it only is neat for some us (to know how pissed Snyder must be) because we know how much he hates to lose and especially when we played 2 games as badly as we did across the board, the players and coaches were terrible

let's try and get real about this - we are 1-2 and the only thing about losing to the Lions is it is just 1 game - the Lions are not the worst team in the NFL anymore - they are better than the Rams and a lot of other teams - last year's record means nothing except to the fans - you hate to lose to a bad team and the Lions are not a bad team anymore - fact is, it's not that we lost it's how we played that is so frustrating to me and especially when you think that the team should have received a wake up call against a bad Rams team

Hopefully this will help this team this week and we are lucky because this Tampa Bay team is not as good as the Lions and might be almost as bad as the Rams

The thing is the players and coaches don't need to be special they just need to do what they are capable of doing well and they will win 7 or 8 games this year - that is what we expected - there were some that were hoping for miracles but that was stupid - this is a good team and we can still finish 8-8 as long as we play and coach as well as we can :D

No. First, that comes with the faulty assumption they know what to do and just aren't doing it. There has been debate through his tenure if he's learning and improving or not, but at no point has anyone argued he's there and he can relax, so there is no reason he would have relaxed thinking no improvement is required. Maybe Snyder learns from this and improves the next iteration, but that would be assessment and growth, not a "wake up call."

As much as I dislike Snyder for how he manages the team I do not think that Snyder will do anything for a while yet UNLESS he is forced to by the players and coaches

the fans certainly will not influence Snyder's actions as far as the coaching or play on the field is concerned - he will let the players and coaches make this work and the decisions for how we go on from there will be made at a later date and based on how the players and coaches handle all of this - that's just my take on it, for now - it's not his issue ... yet

If I see anyone at the game wearing a paper bag, I'm going to bash it in with my elbow. This team needs support, not running jokes

 You really will have a lot of bashing to do. Its going to happen. Paper bags will be out in full force. Have some self restraint and keep yourself from going to jail.

You need to understand that this is about dragging the Redskins name through the mud. The owner needs jokes slung his way. It needs to hit absolute rock bottom before it will ever get better. He's embarassed us long enough, its time for the fans to embarass him. The actual team is a bystander (though not innocent) in this.

I can appreciate unrelenting blind faith. I used to be that way too. But if you're satisfied with what you're seeing on the field, you should be ashamed of yourself. My 2 cents

---------------

If losing the Lions game forces Snyder to use a tried and true method of team building, then yes, it was good for the Redskins.

sorry - this team and these coaches have earned the wrath of the fans and I believe we will hear it this week - the team and the coaches need to play and coach a whole lot better this week and by the end of the game they can win the fans over but if this "stuff" continues all bets are off

It is absolutely a good thing, I hope this causes Snyder to realize he needs to build a winning team the right way.

First thing is to fire Zorn and the staff.

Second thing to to fire Vinny. He just isn't going to work out here.

Third thing is to let Campbell walk and do our best to make a plan for the hasty exits of Portis, Moss, Thomas, and some of the other expensive and aging veterans even if we have to eat a cap hit.

If the Redskins get lucky and land Sam Bradford or Colt McCoy it is absolutely critical that the offensive line be a good unit. The left side (including C) is solid, but some youth is desperately needed on the left. In order to win with a young QB next season it starts with the line.

The new coach and new GM would have to implement a system and follow it. That is the ONLY way to win. I suggest a team of Mike Holgren (GM) and Jon Gruden (HC.) We'd be staying with the WCO theme but have a better system in place for getting the right players and calling the right plays.

That's the only way we'll ever compete with the elite teams.

boy! are you in for a surprise - this team has not played well the last 2 weeks, but this team, in my opinion, is nowhere near as bad as some here are making them out to be - I'll agree that Zorn may not be a great HC but Bill 'the cheat' went through 3 bad seasons in Cleveland, look up that record - right now I'd bet that Zorn's record for the first 2 seasons is better than Bill's - these coaches and players will get it together

I would love for us to get a GM and a FO team and that is all we need to do - we do not need to add players or coaches just get the 2 bozos out of there and have NFL guys run this franchise - AIN'T HAPPENING - Snyder and Cerrato are going to let this season play out and go on from there but I certainly would be really surprised if Snyder takes himself out of the player and coaching selection committee here - that is what it is

this team has 3 weeks against 3 teams that are a combined 0-9 and I will be really surprised if this team that everyone is so down on right now is in the McCoy/Bradford sweepstakes at next year's draft

I dont think people think were awful etc etc..... I think most of agree were a 6-8 win team......and thats the crux of this problem and heart of the fans anger

STAKES ARE TOO HIGH NOW IN THE NFC EAST...Giants wipe there backside with us. Eagles are fielding another rock solid football team capable of 11 wins Cowboys are no pushovers and capable 10 wins easy
and here we are
after 17 years of nothingness...STILL AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PILE
THRU these 17 years weve seen the cowboys win 3x(granted zilch since 96) giants 1x and 2sb appearnces..Eagles 5 NFC championships 1 sb Appearance

Redskins--ZILCH--NADA.....and were still lagging!!..THESE TEAMS HAVE REBUILT themselves 3x over and are still successful

were still trying to get it right----ONE TIME! 17 years later!
