What makes Jim Zorn think that we can run TRICK plays on offense when we CANNOT run the standard set of plays with any sort of consistency?

one thing is to lose a game and another is the loss makes you thing of next year (in week one).

JC was defintely not confident despite his proclamations & articles proclaiming he was, didn't show it, and was not ready to lead this team today. Dazed and confused against the GMen like always. And while the D played good, they did not show that they can be a dominating D. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Five things this team needs to learn:
1. ARE needs to learn to throw it away if everyone is covered.
2. Carlos Rogers needs to learn to catch.
3. Deangelo Hall needs to learn to tackle.
4. JC needs to learn to step up in the pocket.
5. Jim Zorn needs to learn to call a less predictable game.

I saw a JC17 that wasn't one iota improved from last year's.
That's a massive fail straight from the start.

some hope shown in the 2nd half, but not much... i feel that we will be fine on the O-line once they get to watch some game tape, and also once JC learns to STEP-UP in the pocket... it is a shame that we lost by 6, and most of that came off the lack of O and the turnover, then again, we scored on ST with a fake FG... i think Zorn needs to keep the play-caling simple, but not TOO simple... when they moved the ball, there was no trickery, etc... once they tried that, they just faultered... and this game also showed us that JC cannot hit anyone downfield, no accuracy... the D will improver, hopefully the O follows suit... if we want any chance this season, just from a mentality, etc. standpoint, we need to win the next two, no doubt about it...

Need to get the ball in Hunter Smith's hands more...oh wait, he's the punter. We need to get the ball in Hunter Smith's hands less.
It's time for JC and Zorn to right off into the distance Thelma and Louise style.

I am not surprised by all the knee-jerk reactions, like "next year blah blah blah." But still, they dissapoint the hell out of me. The Giants looked ABSOLUTELY AWFUL through two and a half games in 2007. Remember that? We were up 17 at the half, and then all of a sudden they started to dominate, mostly because of their D. I know we are not as good as they were, but the point is that when you jump to conclusions after one game, you are doing just that. We all agree Campbell sucks, but the rest of the team can and will get better. Stop talking about Shanahan and Cowher, etc. Zorn is our coach, and Campbell is our QB- like it or not.

I don't know about that, Chrissy...the submissions are dragging out during the upload, and you wind up at the blogs page rather than the "Your Post Has Been Submitted" page. My guess is they need to hit refresh to see if the first attempt worked or not, or just be patient.

More like hitting the button and nothing happening, and then hitting it again (and again). Sorry.

I am starting to see the light now. Since he was drafted I have always been a big believer in Campbell's talent... but he laid a huge egg today.
The Giants are a great team, so it's not just the losing to them that stings... it's that we had a real chance to win... and Jason Campbell is the main reason we didn't. The offensive line played very well and the defense seemed as good as advertised. Campbell lost this game.

Yes we scored on a fake FG, but after driving the field, to get a first and goal. I'm more pissed that we only came away with a FG after Hall's INT.

This is just a repeat of last yeat. Lose a blowout to the Giants that looks like a close game, barely win a bunch of games agaisnt some horrible teams then lost EVERY games agaisnt teams that are good.

Positives (very few):
1.

ey looked great.
2. ARE showed his effectiveness at the slot WR position.
3. Fletcher, like always, was amazing.
4. Doughty played pretty well.
5. We get to play the Rams next week
Negatives:
- Orakpo should just be a DE. I think we lose play making ability when he is playing LB. He is a pure pass rushing DE, not a hybrid LB.
- Rogers dropped another game changing pick at the beginning. If he wants a big contract he better start catching easy picks like every other elite corner in the NFL.
- Poor tackling. The missed tackle by Smoot costs us 7 points. That would have been 4th down.
- None of last years draft picks stepped up. Fred Davis looks like a bigger waste of a pick every time he plays. I thought Kelly would make an impact today.
-Play calling, on both sides of the ball. Two of the very few times we blitzed we cause a pick and a fumble from Eli. The offensive play calling was bad most of the game.
- Campbell's 2 big mistakes. The pick he should have ran, he was across the line of scrimmage anyway. That was 2 mistakes in 1 play actually. The fumble really change the game. We would have had a real chance of winning if that didn't happen.
Let's hope we look better next week. Hopefully we can beat the Rams pretty bad and look good to get things going at home.
And what happened to Horton?

JC only played well for a couple games in the beginning of last year -- in his career. Other than that he has been a disappointment. It's time to put cut the cord and move on.
First excuse -- too many coordinator changes.
Second excuse -- bad OL
Third excuse --- bad WRs
Fourth excuse --- too many head coaching changes
How many more until we accept the fact he is horrible ---- because he is.

Once again, counting chickens......
We haven't played any games but this one, so how can it look like last year beyond the first game??? They havent done those other things. You could say "I expect this to play out like last year." But all this looks like is Week 1 of last year. Beyond that, nobody knows, nor will anyone till the games are played.

Zorn - Playcalling is still horrible. 2nd play of the game is one example. Plays with short WR's in the redzone and excluding our TALL WR's is inexcusable.
Jason Campbell - Needs to be benched. Horrible QB, disgustingly terrible. He feminine behind needs to feel like a used tishue. He's just not an intelligent QB, he cannot comprehend/read defenses fast enough to make up for that atrociously slow release.
CP - A beast

ey - Reliable but needs to get his head in the game, he drops too many passes.
WR Corp - Solid. ARE looks good. Kelly is good but not used at all. Thomas is used on retarded plays.
Betts - bland boring, bleh. adds nothing to the offense.
Cartwright, same on KRs, boring blad bleh.
Orakpo - Being wasted at LB. BUTTTTTT I dont remember him being beat either.
Horton - A MONSTER
Landry - Overrated. He's leaping and diving everywhere and hitting nothing. Nice tip tho. Gets beat often. A bit too cocky for what he's been doing.
Hall aka Deoin Sanders aka I'm scared to tackle.
Albert - BEASTLY
Griffin - Are you even on the team? Very quiet.

Coach Z says what he saw (and what most of us saw too) was that JC held the ball too long on the fumble that was returned for the TD. Inconsistent also-quick interview. JC coming up. Wonder what his insight will be.
