Hm. let's see. Skins were also 1-3 in '91 Pre-season prior to their winning the Super Bowl. Nah, couldn't happen, could it? Sorry, got side-tracked watching too much fifa09.
So, was anything decided other Marko Mitchell signing his ticket to opening day? Back up linebackers? O-Line cuts? DB's?
Cuts should be interesting.

If Mitchell doesn't make the team then Zorn must go immediately. This guy is the real deal!

one of the biggest factors to the end of this preseason is that there are no significant injuries. That is a PLUS.

Why get rid of a Special Teams Leader (Rock) for a RB who'll never see the field (Mason). If Mason stays, Ladell should go.
RANDLE EL NEEDS TO FOCUS I saw a beautifull Jason Campbell pass, maybe one of the best passes I've ever seen bounce off Randle El's hands at the goal line.

Wish I saw that one.... saw fifa09 instead....

I'd be fine with Betts going.
I want to keep Aldridge, Mason, Mitchell, Chase and Henson.

Lookin at the game tonight it doesn't make a good statement back-ups are what makes or breaks seasons in the NFL and the Skins will struggle to keep a float. I hope I am wrong, but I haven't seen enough from the back-ups to suggest that they will finish any better than 7-9. There are always injuries and teams are only as good as their back-ups and the bench is a shallow as assawoman bay.

Agree on C Wilson, and of course Marko. But what's the choice between Glenn, Henson, or Young? And fifa09 is defintely a cut. Not even a Practice Squad choice.

Amen to this list brotha!
I'll take the credit on saying Marko will be 5th receiver on this team after the first pre season game.
Dude is a diamond find (that makes two in consecutive years... other is Horton). Suppose FO may know what they are doing in the late round draft?

JC looked sharp. The D was pretty bad, the starters better stay healthy. Suisham actually made a good kick, another year of him i guess. Like I predicted in April, Cody Glenn will be cut.

And later; Henson and Mason were undrafted.

Henson looked GOOD last nite.
I don't think Marko even needs to be discussed.
I still haven't seen anyone in the backfield this pre-season that impressed me enough to warrant an active roster spot.
Tryon is flashing this pre-season; light years ahead of where he was week 1.
Other than the above mentioned, I have no idea.

I like both Henson and Young at the last LB spot. I am not Special Teams scout, so it's tough to say the difference between the two there. But as LBs, I see Henson as a big play guy - great tackling but he gets beat in space on the passing downs, which is true of even Brian Orakpo. Young seems like a consistent tackler in the mold of Fletcher and HB Blades.
I bet one gets a spot, the other a practice squad position. Would love to have both on the team though.
Jarmon solidified his case I think. Other than that, a lot of weak performances on D. Seemed like Reed was playing D for the entire squad at times.
I'm not the Mason fan everyone else is here. Keep Portis, Betts and Rock. Drop Mason, and give Alridge a chance to work his way. Mason looks like he has not changed since his rookie year.

I agree about Mason. When he isn't returning, his blocking looks weak. I saw him on one return avoiding guys coming the other way as if he had the ball, rather than looking for contact. His running this pre-season has been solid, but it was his blocking that kept him of the 53-man roster last season, and that hasn't improved enough to warrant giving him Rock's job. KEEP CARTWRIGHT!

I agree with everyone there except Mason, I'm sorry to say... cause I like the kid. But with Bett's not going anywhere, Mason may be on the outside looking in. I think Danny Smith said it best; Mason has been with three different clubs and there's a reason he hasn't caught on yet. His running is good, but his blocking and special teams play isn't so good.
That said, I think Alridge makes the team, in spite of his fumble last night. As they did with Davis, they'll work hard with Alridge making him carry and protect the ball better. It's better he did this in a pre-season game and not during a game that counts. But you can't substitute for pure speed. If he does in fact make the team, I doubt he'll be showcased early on in the season, but I can see the coaches working him into the lineup at some point sooner than later.
I have to say I prefer Chase over Colt. Chase just seems to be more polished, comparatively speaking with Colt, and can certainly make all the throws. Chase scrambles better, has better pocket presence and just seems to have a better feel for the game. I know some Colt fans will be up in arms if Colt is cut, but if I'm making that call, I see more upside in Chase and I'd stick with him.

I agree with all three assessments, SF.

1-3 preseason. Who cares?
The best thing about this preseason was that we made it through without any serious injuries. Now that is awesome.
Campbell looked pretty sharp last night too. So irritating that ARE dropped that beautiful TD pass he floated in over three defenders. Of course, Redskins fans will probably blame it on JC's leadership skills or something.

Campbell was sharp. 4-6. If you add in to completions that were voided due to penalty and the dropped TD by ARE, 7-8. Obviously only a few passes, but encouraging. I'm pretty sure I saw Campbell run out and knock the ball out of Alridges hands on that return. He also tripped Mike Williams so he missed his block on that sack fumble play. Oh, and he committed offensive pass interence on one of his completions so that they had to replay it.
Not too concerned about the defense last night as several starters didn't even play, and Jacksonville ran their starters into the second quarter.
As a couple of others have noted, the depth is very concerning. Especially on the O-line. That said, is this the most complete starting unit we've had in a long time? I think Heyer is probably the biggest question mark, and he seems to be doing pretty well. The WR corps looks like it will be good. Portis is Portis.

ey will be a top TE. The D-line looks very good, possibly dominant. The Lb's and secondary look solid once Rogers is back. Orakpo looks like the real deal. This could be a team that makes a legitimate playoff run, not like the last couple where they snuck in by getting hot at the end. Can't be certain based on preseason, but their aren't the big questions like who's the number 2 receiver, who's going to rush the passer, who plays safety, etc. like there have been lately.
