Wow, I'm surprised. The guy is a big time athlete and I wonder what his role will be.

I bet he plays backup for both McNabb and Westbrook

How fitting... A thug with a thug team.

But this makes me very nervous

I'm not sure it will improve the Eagles.

the skins should have taken him, he could probly start at 3 or 4 positions in their offense.

Vick's agent, Joel Segal, told NFL.com's Steve Wyche that the Philadelphia Eagles signed the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Thursday. A league source told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora that the Eagles gave Vick a one-year, $1.6 million contract with a team option exceeding $5 million for a second year.

I'd rather he had not wound up in our division. It's fine if he is going to be their backup QB, but him playing another position, such as WR/RB scares me a little.

Smart move by the Eagles. Vick and Westbrook in the same backfield running the Wildcat could be scary.

I watched the Eagles game last night and their O is scary...now you add Vick to that!

Of course this is going to be considered yet another brilliant move for the modle franchise of the NFL by the "experts." If we had signed him it would have been just another wasteful indulgince of Dan Snyder.

By the way, Ray Didenger who is a HoF football writer who covers a lot of the Eagles was obviously disgusted on the radio this morning. He is well respected and I have always found him to be fair - not a homer. I thought it was interesting how upset he was, he almost sounded like he wanted to cry.

Yea Cleg I live here in Eagles country as well...it's not playing well... Sal Pal said people were leaving the linc last night after getting the news...it's all about winning if they win all will be forgiving. Sounds like the Eagles did their homework...they got the city on board before they signed him.

The sports radio callers are mostly negative about it. But you're right, it will die down if the Eagles are winning. I cannot believe that McNabb is not bothered by this. He is bothered whenever anyone does not kiss his butt or tell him how great he is.

Yeah, you've gotta believe that QB controversy is coming.

Jaws made a very interesting point about that as well. The fans in Philly are brutal and boo McNabb quite often, especially when he starts to become inconsistent, which is often. Jaws said... what's going to happen when the Eagles are down by two TD's and McNabb is 1-10 in the 2nd quarter? The fickle fans in Philly are going to start chanting for Vick and McNabb will start to get bothered... again.

I watched Andy Reid's press conference last night regarding the signing of Vick. The first thought that came to me was... two days ago, Reid publicly denied any interest in Vick. The second thought I had as Andy was getting drilled by reporters was that I remembered Reid saying the same things when they signed T.O.

Well McNabb is on record as saying he lobbied for Vick…He is not one to sugar coat things…I live here and see more press conferences with the Eagles than I do the Redskins. McNabb has never had a problem telling you how he feels and I don’t think this deal goes down without McNabb approval and he gave his full endorsement. I have never understood Philly fans that boo him. He has done so much for that team and has handled himself very well. I don’t think he it concerned in the least bit.

Does anyone know how they plan to use him yet? Is he strictly a backup QB?

Another reason to hate the Eagles, as if one was required

Well, you don't catch me in that net. I love that the Eagles signed him. An amoral slug of a human being playing for a city of fans who cheer for players to try to injure the opposition and even louder when they do. A QB who helps fund, train and participate in dogs living a horrendous life ended by them tearing each other to shreds is just about right.

It's just TOO perfect, I couldn't have scripted this better.

Yep... I know McNabb said he lobbied for Vick, I watched his presser too. McNabb and Vick are friends. McNabb also lobbied for Terrell Owens.

But I, or Jaws actually, was talking about the fickle fans in Philly and how this could incite a QB controversy if McNabb starts to struggle at some point. Much like last year when McNabb struggled, the fans booed him and Reid benched him for half a game. McNabb got his job back, but if Kolb had actually played well when he got his shot, the QB controversy could've been much worse.

I have absolutely nothing against McNabb, which is the biggest thing I have against him. He's an Eagle! The bastard.

If they are going to use him as a wild cat type RB/QB with McRibb (i like that CLL) under center and westbrook and vick on either side,

is our D fast enough to contain the corners. we know we have a great line that can run stop and rush the passer but can we contain the edges when vick goes one way and westbrook the other???
