gotta love how a "visit" to Redskins Park by Vick's agent can be "interpreted" by the media - the agent just happens to also represent some Redskins players

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/12052036

I do not see this team (or Zorn) adding to their offensive issues at this time

EDIT - I changed the topic because I felt I was also wrong in making this look like something it is not

They point blank said that if they were going to be there to discuss Vick, they wouldn't have the agent out in front of the media. The agent was there for his 4 or 5 players on the Redskins. Campbell being one of the (in a contract year).

agreed but why even use the name in a report - I totally agree that the ONLY reason Segal was there was for 1 or more of his current Redskins' clients and nothing else needs alluding to, imo

Probably because everyone kept asking him about Vick. I listened to his interview on 980 this morning with Larry Michael and they spent more time asking him about Vick than Campbell and Landry.

I have faith in the team and J-Cam. But I hear a lot of people who have been at training camp, complain that J-Cam, doesn't have "IT"...the thing quarterbacks have to be special. And also he is scared to make the "gamble" throw.

I know its early in camp, the O-line is a bit suspect, 2nd-3rwd receivers are suspect, and J-Cam is finally in the same offense for consecutive years. But does anyone have faith that J-Cam will succeed?

Segal, Agent For Campbell, Visits; Not Here For Vick
By Gary Fitzgerald

NFL agent Joel Segal visited Redskins Park on Tuesday morning and did an interview on ESPN 980 with Larry Michael and Larry Weisman.

Segal represents several Redskins, including Jason Campbell, LaRon Landry, DeAngelo Hall and Robert Thomas.

Segal also represents Michael Vick, who is a free agent after spending the last 18 months in prison for running a dogfighting ring.

"I’m not here for Mike," Segal said. "I’m here for these guys [Campbell, Landry, Hall and Thomas]."

Later, Segal was asked if there was any chance the Redskins would sign Vick.

"No chance," Segal replied.

Campbell, meantime, is entering a pivotal year in his NFL career. He is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2009 season. His status--restricted or unrestricted--is still to be determined.

Campbell had an offseason of uncertainty after it was reported that the Redskins pursued acquiring Jay Cutler in a trade and drafting Mark Sanchez.

Segal said he was impressed with how Campbell responded to the reports.

“Jason is a special guy,” Segal said. “A lot of guys would have been rattled, lost their confidence. This guy is ice. He’s class. He went about his business and said, ‘Don’t worry--I’m going to play some football.”

Segal was asked if he was at Redskins Park to discuss a contract extension with team officials.

“No, I’m watching practice, seeing some of the guys,” Segal said.

Michael and Weisman also asked Segal about Vick.

Is he optimistic that Vick would get a job soon?

“Yes, I’m very optimistic,” Segal said. “It’s not a matter of if, but when. And Mike’s excited with the opportunity that the commissioner has given him. He’s ready to go help a club win.”

Asked which teams were interested in Vick, Segal declined to discuss specifics.

“There are a lot of teams interested,” he said. “Mike’s excited and looking forward to working and getting back. He’s working hard every day.”

The Redskins have said publicly they are not interested in acquiring Vick at this time.

After the radio interview, Segal watched the Redskins practice from the sidelines alongside executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato.

The article's headline even states he's not here about Vick. I don't understand the OP's contention that the media is interpreting this incorrectly.

FYI - 2 things - we all have been "advised" many times by the media & the team that at this time the Redskins have no interest in Vick - Joel Segal has a lot more interesting reasons to be here such as Campbell's "situation" & other players that he represents than to even refer to him as "not being here to discuss Vick" we know that

to me the mention of Vick was to attract attention and is typical media hype - if you don't think so - you are as entitled as any :P

No matter what part of the world you live in, you soon realise that media reports are 90% bull** and 10% lies :)

You know what they say ... never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

My guess is Vick ends up in the AFC with NE, PIT or maybe MIA.
