Somebody got really desperate for a story. Of course coaches are going to talk like that. I would probably vomit in my mouth should Vick come here.

There's nothing of substance there. Anonymous coaches and players?

Vick makes absolutely no sense for the team. Zorn has said repeatedly that he won't use a wildcat. As a traditional QB, Vick is a terrible fit for a west coast system - he's just not accurate enough. Plus, Zorn knows he needs to have a good season or he could very well be canned - training a new QB would only set him back.

I think it is mandatory that someone, somewhere, right a story about how the Redskins are going to sign every single player that is a free agent, regardless of whether there is actually any interest or if it makes any sense.

I am curious and interested to see Vick back in the NFL, but not on this team.

I do not want Vick either. Toomany football and character issues do not make him a good fit. BUT ...

I would not discard the possibility that the Danny is dreaming about the marketing possibility to bring him here but there is more. I will tell you why this might be an interesting move on his part:

We have an old and injury-prone OL. Jason does not have great mobility to compensate for that but Vick does ...

One would basically have to hand the entire offense to Vick and change from the West Coast offense plus other big changes in play calling and all. But I suspect that what Danny wants is a spectacle that attracts people and Vick would certainly be cappable to deliver that.

I suspect that this is not going to happen based on Zorn's philosophy but all bets are off.

The interest in Vick will be so high that the team that puts him on the field can count on sharply increased attendance. Are both cheers and boos all the same to Danny when money's on the table?

IF a few of our key offensive linemen go down and Zorn is desperate to save his job, might Zorn not consider a quarterback who's thought by many to be most likely QB to turn a pass rush into a touchdown in football history?

I am making no predictions here but fans have forgotten about a lot of crimes worse than dog abuse when the perpetrator produces on the field. Sports fans in general are notorius for their shifting moral perspectives,

The team is already sold out for the whole season, so I doubt Vick would have that much impact on attendance. Almost every team sells out every game(I think the Vikings had some close calls last season), so tickets sales are unlikely to be increased substantially anywhere.

I'd go back to being a Cardinal fan like I was back in the Jake the Snake days of the late nineties.

Apart from his talent (which is undeniable 2 years ago, but you wonder what's happened to him in the past 2 years), there's a serious economic concern with corporate sponsors; while the bulk of dedicated fans may not care much about the animal cruelty issue, corporate sponsors are extremely aware of it...

RIC, I concur with all in your post except this... There is irony here... Vick is possibly the most elusive man ever to play quarterback... but was never able to harness it to the point where he was actually a quarterback.

From what I've seen, Jason Campbell has excellent mobility... not at the Vick level, but comparable to many of the best. The problem, however is the OPPOSITE of Vick. Campbell is so determined to become a pocket passer that he waits too long to use his elusiveness. Look at the times he has successfully pulled the ball down to take off... generally big gains. If he were to take off a few more times, the pass rush would be forced to respect his mobility. It would do his Tackles a huge favor in helping to slow down the outside rush, and would keep the middle rush honest. If it were viewed as enough of a threat, defenses would be further hobbled by the occasional need to use a LB or Safety to spy him in certain situations. That takes a player out of pass coverage.

I agree on all points, CT. You really nailed it.

Our OL's supposed poor pass blocking is the very reason we shouldn't get invoved with Vick. I have yet to find a QB that was sacked more often in the NFL than Vick was during his time with the Falcons.

You're right. Will Danny be able to make more money because he signs Vick. In any other way. Media, etc. Is there another possible financial incentive to acquire him-- or any other reason to hire Vick than trying to win. Will he be able to raise ticket prices?

As you mentioned already, ticket sales wouldn't likely be impacted by a Vick signing. However, actual game attendance could be.

That's another great point. I hope Zorn is installing that threat. It does seen to be that Campbell does have an great intelligent for spotting holes when they develop and generally seems to rip off uncontested big gains when the does it. I hadn't thought of it freeing up a pass receiver, but now don't see why it wouldn't do exactly that. Maybe, Zorn, could make Campbell a big threat by setting him up as sort of Michael Vick minus the great speed and moves. Seems to me worth a try. I'll settle for twenty yards a crack and accurate passing any game over inaccurate passing and the possibily of down-the-field runs.

I also would love to see Campbell utilize his mobility more, but I still feel that one of his biggest 'issues' is the time it seems to take for him to make his reads and decide what to do - I am sure that Zorn is working on a lot of things to make Campbell better but I wonder if Campbell's capable of being better/quicker at reading the defenses prior to the snap.

If I remember correctly Zorn was fairly mobile, not quick, but he would move some

it will be an interesting season
