Maryland Maniacs of the Indoor Football League

Hey everybody, do you need Spring football until training camp kicks off?

I'm doing work for the Maryland Maniacs of the Indoor Football League... I will be writing articles and adding content to their site.

Don't worry, it won't take away from my time at THN. ;-)

Anyways, I know I'm starving for some relevant football information because I really don't care about hearing Cutler and Favre's name 50 times a week, what T.O. put on his Twitter or where Anquan Boldin is going to end up when NOTHING is happening on that front.

So going to a Maniacs game is a great way to spend a Saturday evening and watch several players who spent time with the Redskins over the past six seasons.

Even better is the fact that the Maniacs are on a 7-game winning streak and seem destined for the playoffs.

Maniacs games are GREAT for kids as JansenFan and his wife Niki can atest to.

Spread the word and tell everyone you know. Especially people who are starving for football this time of year!

I posted a blog about it and will post them each week I write an article for the Maniacs. It will provide you with all of the information you need.

And oh, by the way, I'm working on a THN discount with them. I'll post more as it becomes firm, but they're more than willing. My family went out on May 2nd to catch a game. Jackson got out on the field to play a game (in which he won free tickets and a VIP upgrade), he got autographs from almost the entire team. Its good football, the arena only seats about 5,000 so there's not a bad seat.

What are the rules? Is it the same as Arena football?

Not sure I understand it. Looks like they tried to combine several different themes, and just came up with a jumble. What's up with the motorcycle tire?

Look damn it, it's tight! The flame makes me feel like MD is hardcore, not like those 2 stupid looking birds in Bmore

The league has a website, goifl.com. Somewhere on the site they break down the rules, I believe.

They also have players in the league that we've all heard of such as Peter Warrick, Quincy Carter and Michael Bishop.

No problem.

Perfect. You can just stroll up to The Show Place Arena and buy tickets at the box office. The tickets are cheap and its great for kids. If you have kids or nieces or nephews as does your friend, bring them. I guarantee you that you won't regret it.

Spread the word. They're looking for 8 wins in a row this Saturday. There will hopefully be home playoff games to look forward to as well. ;-)

FYI, defensive back Atcheson Conway won IFL Defensive Player of the Week with his performance Saturday night.

WEEK ELEVEN DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK –DB ATCHESON CONWAY/ MARYLAND MANIACS

Winning seven straight games takes a total team effort, and the Maryland Maniacs have certainly proven the team-first mentality. But occasionally a player has an individual game that gets his name noticed above the team. In last weeks tough Atlantic Division battle against Rochester, Atcheson Conway kept the potent Raider offense at bay. The defensive back intercepted two crucial passes and totaled 5.5 tackles on the night. He also broke up six passes intended for Raider receivers.

Tonight at 7 p.m., the Maniacs play the Muskegon Thunder at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD.

You can just walk up to the Arena and buy tickets to just about anywhere in the arena. The most expensive ticket I believe is only $24. That's a great deal considering other things we spend $24 on.

For more information on directions to get to the arena, visit: www.showplacearena.com

The Maniacs won their eighth straight on Saturday night and clinched a playoff berth in the inaugural season.

Now 8-2, the Maniacs play the Saginaw Sting this weekend and look to extend their winning streak.

Their final regular season home game is on June 13th. Given their current standings there are likely to be home playoff games on the way. Come on out and see the winningest team in the area!

For more on Saturday night's victory, check out my blog in THN's blog section.

Yes he was. He plays with his brother Tyree Spinner who is instantly recognizable. He's the tallest guy on the team.

The other players/front office members on the team who have ties to the Redskins are Jason Goode, Kevin Jones, Jerome Nichols and Durrand Roundtree. Check my blog to see when they were with the Redskins.

Thanks for joining Justin! Keep up the good work this season. Don't let this winning streak end. Keep spreading the word and we will do the same.

Also, Redskins draft pick, wide receiver Marko Mitchell was in attendance for the Maniacs vs. Raiders matchup on May 23rd. He's on the left wearing the blue shirt.

Dont forget, you can catch tonight's away game at Saginaw on b2tv.com. They tend to have some occasional feed problems, but hopefully it will work tonight. Kickoff is 7:05pm.
