Bohemian Rhapsody - and "Queen" on AI

Is Bohemian Rhapsody the best song ever?
Yesterday, I was riding into work listening to Bohemian Rhapsody and thinking that it has to be the best song ever written and recorded. The arrangement and skil level of that song is just rediculos.
If it isn't in your Mount Rushmore of songs then you have either never heard it, I mean really heard it on a good system cranked up, or you just have extrordinarily BAD taste in music!
Then "Queen" is on American Idol last night. Well the last two memers of Queen were anyway.
AND THEY PLAYED BACK UP for Adam and Kris!!! Has their world gotten that deserate that they would have to defoul themselves by appearing on AI?
Chad Dukes was going off on that fact today on the Big O and Dukes show. First it took them about five minutes to convince him that that had actually happen and them he just went off.
List your top four songs if you would like. For me everything else is such a distant second that I can't even list my top 4.

That's really a tough one to aswer, but I'll try. Granted, I've been listening to punk, thrash, and metal all day, so...
Slaughterama -Gwar
Master of Puppets - Metallica
Wish You Were Here - Floyd
Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Honorable mentions :
Hotel California - Eagles
Am I Evil - Metallica
Small Hours - Metallica
Learning to Fly - Floyd
Bodies - Drowning Pool
Just One Fix - Ministry
There are some really really good songs that I like from the 80s, but they're radio songs that I know when I hear, but still don't know what they names are to this day.

Lots of good ones there. I still go with my top dog and I will pick four here in a bit.
A song that should be considered I guess is American Pie, but that is. more for the significance of the song, than the song it's self. Same could be said for Phil Collins "In the Air (tonight)"

1: The Turning Away, Pink Floyd
2: Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen
3: Sandman, America
4: Chain of Fools, Aretha!
5: The Thrill is Gone, BB King
6: Seven Bridges Road, The Eagles
7: Mercy, Mercy, Me, Marvin Gaye
8: Green Grass and High Tides, The Outlaws
9: You Better Think Twice, Poco
10: Hurt, Johnny Cash
Most are old, a couple are obscure, all are great. Unfortunately, all also have deep ties to memories some great, some sad, so, it is what it is.

1.) Bach's Mass in B Minor...though that's not really a song, that's a whole composition
2.) Bohemian Rhapsody-Queen
3.) Somewhere-Sondheim/Bernstein
4.) Helter Skelter-The Beatles
5.) After the Love Has Gone-Earth Wind and Fire
HM:
-Que Sera Sera as performed by Sly and the Family Stone
-Buddy Rich's Channel One Suite
-No Woman, No Cry
-Blue Rondo a la Turk by Dave Brubeck
-America, The Beautiful as performed by Ray Charles
-Obviously...Hail to the Redskins-Barnee Breeskin and Connie Griffith
I've forgotten about a plethora of songs.

First song I thought of when I read the thread opener.
By the way... will there ever be another band like Pink Floyd again? I've been a guitar player since grade school and David Gilmour has been a life long favorite. His melodic articulation with the guitar is unmatched in my opinion. Love that guy...

Talking of guitar players, I've always been a fan of Joe Satriani.

I dig me some Floyd. Old albums like; Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, Animals...... and their most known; Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall
Love me some Floyd...and yes there will never be another band like them.

His new band Chickenfoot with Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, and Chad Smith should be amazing. I'm hoping to get their album on Friday when it comes out.
Anything by Zeppelin, Metallica, AC/DC, G N' R(the old, real one), Aerosmith, and Skynyrd, just to name a few of my favorite bands, is awesome especially songs like Fade to Black, Stairway to Heaven, Free Bird, Back in Black and all of Bon Scott's stuff. I'm not the biggest Skid Row fan but *Monkey Business is up there as one of my favorite songs.

Good Topic.
I'm not sure what my true favorites of all time would be. I have different favorites for different moods.
In no particular order
Foul Taste of Freedom - Pro-Pain
Laid to Rest - Lamb of God
Sad But True - Metallica
Skeletons of Society - Slayer
Bulls on Parade - Rage Against the Machine
Trip Like I Do - The Crystal Method
Hey There Delilah - The Plain White T's
Jet City Woman - Queensryche
Fire Woman - The Cult
Party Up - DMX
Closer in Da Club - The Mash-up of Closer by Nine Inch Nails and In Da Club by 50 Cent
There are others I'd consider favorites, but like I said, it really just depends on the mood I'm in, or what I'm doing at the time.

God, I haven't heard Slaughterama in years!
Just One Fix is another good one! Have you heard the "Jesus Built my Hotrod Redline/Whiteline remix?"
Edit to Respond to your other post:
<---Also a Satriani fan.

A lot of good music here as well, Bob. Some I had forgotten about. I still listen to Slaughterama at least once a week.

On that album, I'd go with Orion over Master. And I'd probably go Ride the Lightning from their 2nd album even over either of those (although Master remains a better album overall).
Tough question as to top 4 songs of all time. I'll have to think about it.

I'm not sure I could even narrow it down to 5 songs by any one band, much less the top 5 all-time.

It does change, and it's hard to narrow it down to 5, but I picked 5 all time favorites. I could probably list a couple of hundred without thinking.
Here's an old school

I'm just about to go out and see John Prine, a personal favorite. Levon Helm, former drummer for The Band, is openning for him. Should be a great show.

Hope you enjoyed the show. Now I have
Angel from Montgomery with Bonnie Raitt stuck in my head.

It was awesome. And he played Angel, BTW.

How was ol Levon? He's the swingingest drummer ever.

Great. He has his voice back. Played a number of Band tunes, and did a cover of Tennesse Jed.
BTW, I talked to one of the band members after the show. He said they were headed to Chicago.
