Dan Snyder 3rd Worst Owner in NFL

They rank him third behind on Al Davis and Ford in Detroit. Hard to argue with Ford, but Davis has won multiple super bowls and has been to one during the time that Snyder has been owner.

I'm glad to see others ranking Snyder as a terrible owner. The simple truth is they will never be consistently good as long as he continues to own the team. Lifetime winning percentage of 41%. What do you think Snyder would do with a coach with that winning percentage? Who's the only consistent presence attached to that winning percentage?

Snyder Must Go!

Hush, man. Your negativity might rub the wrong way some of the posters around here.

Surely Snyder has to rank among the TOP three owners, since he spends each year millions on dollars on the team. Ai, ai, ai...

Intelligent posts discussing a point of negativity is not deterred.

I think that Danny's slowly getting less worse as the years go on. He may have overpaid for arguably the best defensive player in the league, he's still in his prime. DeAngelo and LL are two guys that we can build a secondary around, adding their skill and athleticism to Fletcher's leadership and Haynesworth's sick production.

I also don't think he did too badly last year. The Jason Taylor thing was a panic move in reaction to two DEs going down in the same week, not a "buying a championship" type move he's done in years past.

I honestly think that there's a possibility for the future. He's young where he shouldn't be going senile like Al Davis for a few more decades. I can't even begin to understand what Ford's problem is.

I would love that to be true

I would love that to be true. I thought that was true when he hired Gibbs and stepped back a bit, but with Gibbs gone, it's back to the bad owner. The biggest problem, I think, it two-fold. First, there is no consistent plan, and Second, Snyder surrounds himself with Yes-Men. Those two big issues are personified in Cerrato. My biggest hope for fixing both problems currently is Holmgren. If Campbell and Zorn can do well enough to avoid getting fired, then Snyder might be persuaded to hire Holmgren as G.M. Holmgren could stand up to Snyder, get rid of Cerrato, provide a consistent vision, and not have to start over with a new coach. The other big names that Snyder would court would likely want to start over with a new coach or be the coach themselves, and we're back to a rebuilding team again.

I wouldn't mind seeing Holmgren as G.M. I am fairly sure this wont happen though or Snyder would have hired one years ago.

Zorn's been here 1 year. Not long enough to see what he's all about IMO.

As for Gibbs, I really don't think he did as well as some people make him out to have done. We backed in to a playoff spot on an emotional high and got decimated. The other playoff spot, we set a record for least yards in a post season win. Last time I checked, Gibbs was an offensive guy and our defense carried the load both times.

I was as happy as anyone else when I heard Gibbs was coming back initially, but he tarnished his HoF record by coming back. Part of me wishes he never came back so he could be remembered in his glory, not failing to know you can't call two consecutive time outs.

dannys made some bone headed moves while owner (see neon deion) but in the last couple years hes done ok.

drafted better (see our D), brough back gibbs (got to playoffs with an outdated O), and now has zorn (started 5 and 3 then injuries stopped the train)

lets see how it goes in jims second year. then we can judge dannys choice of zorn as a coach.

in the end he started as a 'retarded owner', moved into the 'my god what is he doing' owner stage, and is currently in the 'lets see how zorn does with a kick ass D and a healthy O line.

the jury is still out.

Shhhh!

He'll hear you!

Don't you know that Daniel Snyder has super-secret owner powers that he'll use to destroy you?!

Don't worry about yourself, but think of the children! They'll miss you!

You know what powers I'm talking about, the super-secret owner powers that he threatens all of his former players and coaches with so they don't tell all the secret stuff he does behind the scenes! You know, the stuff that gets released by "unnamed sources" because they are afraid that Snyder might find out, but that no current or former coach or player will admit ever happened!

Just look at what he did to poor Greg Williams? A little bit of sour grapes and he's defensive coordinator in Jacksonville. Now he's unemployed! Think about it, do you really wanna wind up coaching the Jaguars defense next year?

Look at what he did to Steve Spagnolo! Spagnolo insulted Snyder by saying he didn't want to work in Washington and now look at him! The Rams? I shudder to think. If you keep this up you might just find yourself coaching the Lions next year!

Shhhhhhh!!!

hey, if you'd have asked me three months ago if Springs, Marcus Washington, and Jason Taylor would still be here I probably would have said "unfortunately yes". On the other hand, if you'd have asked me if we would have gotten a starting caliber RT by now I would have said "there's no way we don't fix that position, it's been too many years without one"

Why? It wasn't until the CHawks force him out as a GM that they started to improve!

Bill Bidwell is the worst NFL owner and whom ever owns the Chicago Bears or Vikings should be listed well before Snyder!

SkinsFan33,

It's true that Holmgren lost his GM job in Seattle, but he was also head coach at the time. Here, with Zorn as coach, he could focus on being GM. The two would also offer a consistent vision of what the team should look like. Lastly, anybody who could take decisions out of the hands of Snyder/Cerrato would be an upgrade.

I once read a critique about the Bengals. They kept drafting guys with character issues who would fall in the draft. The idea was, they were drafting these guys because they didn't have enough confidence in their scouting to find anyone who was good otherwise. Substitute "injury" for "character" and you have the Washington Redskins draft class. See Rocky McIntosh, Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, Orakpo, and the corner in the third round this year.

I just don't know how to take seriously someone who's last name is "Sucks".

There are plenty here whom express their profound displeasure with Snyder. None have elected to make it their personna.

That said, it appears to me that Snyder has made significant strides in managing his aggressive pursuit of the big name. No longer is he pursuing the has been's of the league. When he procures a name now, it is generally a player in his prime... Jason Taylor can be explained by the panic that occured when 2 DE's went down immediately at the opening of camp.

Your shots at players such as Orakpo, and Thomas, who give no reason to really be concerned regarding injury, are really a significant reach.

I guess being the defensive coordinator of the Saints is pretty close to a state of unemployment...it's just a deferred state.

What? Holmgren as a GM? Seattle only got good once they removed Holmgren from being the GM.

There aren't very many coaches/GMs that are successful. If you are doing only one its much easier.

For the record I am not petitioning Holmgren for GM. I just said I wouldn't mind it. Except for the QB scandal this off season the FO has done better the last two years so there might not be a great need for it at the moment.

Holmgren was a better coach than GM and what is this QB scandal that you speak of. Did Colt do something wrong again?

Right on.

The other playoff spot, we set a record for least yards in a post season win. Last time I checked, Gibbs was an offensive guy and our defense carried the load both times.

From the COMPLETE DISARRAY left behind by Spurrier to two Post-Season appearances with what can be called a TEAM for the first time during the ownership of this clown and with the tremendous disadvantage of disastrous recruitment???

I have only one thing to say about your post:

UNGRATEFUL!

I was as happy as anyone else when I heard Gibbs was coming back initially, but he tarnished his HoF record by coming back. Part of me wishes he never came back so he could be remembered in his glory, not failing to know you can't call two consecutive time outs.

Maybe EVEN the best head coach in the history of the NFL can do little with so much handicap stacked against him, no?

You people make me truly sick with your apologies for Snyder and the spread of blame on all coaches and players. What a joke.

And he is getting better ... And he is learning to become an NFL expert ... And he really loves this team as a fan ... And the tooth fairy ... Nah! never mind ...

So because I see there are flaws in Gibbs, I'm ungrateful? If you'd pop your head out of your fourth point of contact, you'd see that what I have to say has merit.

I'm not going to argue with blind fanatics...
