OK! We have a somewhat stable roster to slide into training camp, can anyone project a 53-man roster to start the season?? Let's make it a little easier and predict 2 versions; a Probable and a Wish (allowing for trades, etc.).

I think that Collins is gone this year. Zorn is really pushing Colt, he's going to be #2. The rookie will be #3...

ANY THOUGHTS??

yeah, skins2357. I have some doubts that Westbrook will supplant Tryon as the fifth corner. Wasn't he a practice squad guy last couple of years?

I don't see Thrash or Cartwright making the team this year.

I know both are hard workers, contribute on special teams and are good locker room guys, but I don't think their production justifies a roster spot.

Rock is an OK kick returner, but he's more safe than explosive at it. More to the point, he doesn't provide that change of pace you need on third down. And the Redskins seem to understand that or they wouldn't have recruited three or four water bugs this off-season. If the little guys implode, Rock will be back. But otherwise, I think Zorn is looking for someone who can add another dimension to his offense.

Ditto for Thrash. He's a quality person, but he brings neither size nor speed to the receiving game. Much has been made of his special teams work and how many tackles he makes, but as the gunner he's the first man down on punt coverage. Making tackles is his job. It would be news if he wasn't. That doesn't mean he's the only guy who could.

I agree. We may regret cutting Cartright. He is consistently good on ST. I think its time for a change. They don't trust him on offense.

I wouldnt be shocked if thrash is cut because we have a couple young guys there. But I would put money on it that Cartwright is not cut....If thrash is cut than look for Jaison Williams or the other young guy from Nevada

If Kelly and Thomas are healthy then Roydell Williams will be our 4th or 5th receiver, and I think given our offensive struggles last year that the team keeps six receivers in '09. Also, I firmly believe that Alridge OR Dorsey OR Mason will stick this year as a "change of pace" guy behind Portis/Betts. They are all quick and elusive, and I have to imagine one of the three at least will step up and give Zorny what he is looking for (adding a home-run threat to the backfield).

Our Defensive line...

DE- Carter, Orakpo, Daniels, Wynn
DT- Griffin, Montgomery, Haynesworth, Golston

...and secondary...

S- Horton, Landry, Moore, Doughty
CB- Hall, Smoot, Barnes, Rogers,

I would imagine we would keep 5 CBs. Probably add Tryon to that list and I can get on board.

I think Westbrook beats out Tryon. Just a gut feeling I have.....

I believe Aldridge will be our change of pace guy and he'll be back there with Cartwright returning kicks and maybe punts by midseason. I saw some highlights of Aldridge doing returns in college and the kid is unbelievably fast

You think we're carrying 4 RBs this year? I think with the O & D line issues, we could better use that slot for one of those.

IMO, I'd let both Betts and Rock go.

Bring in Mason and Aldridge. That might be a bit radical since both are unproven on Sunday but I think Mason is a better fit than Betts... But the way we run through backs we should keep Betts...

Thrash is done. Time to cut him. He's outlasted his worth.

Doughty will have one as long as there's no one to take that spot. I don't think we've pbrought anyone in to compete with him for it, either.

I agree, no one to replace him - especially when they go with three safeties.

If the plan is to play Orakpo at RDE on third down, what happens to Carter? Does he play LDE or move in to tackle?

Orakpo plays LDE on third down and Carter stays at RDE.

Whyall the hostility to Doughty. He played well in 07 when we had to win to make the playoffs. Last yr he had a back injury. If he's healthy, he will contribute on both ST & D.
