I found this to be funny. You want a young CB to be cocky and arrogant, and Kevin Barnes said: Smoot was "getting a little bit older."
As you can imagine, this riled Fred Smoot, but he's a professional. "They come in like that until they go to three days of [minicamp], and [then] they humble," Smoot said. "It don't bother me. I'm going to take him through some things. I haven't seen the guy. I don't even know his name, and I love football, so that tells you [something]. I know who's going to get drafted where. I didn't know the kid."
Should be a training camp story to watch.

I like this Kevin Barnes guy already. Should bring out the best in our group of CBs which I think is pretty good.

Sounds like he really wants Smoot's job as 3rd CB!

I was a little upset with this pick because I thought that we had more pressing needs to address than cb, but the more I read about him the more I like him. I doubt that he can trash talk as well as Smooth though. "70 percent of the earth is covered by water, the rest is covered by Smoot!". Classic.

Fred Smoot will have absolutely no problems with Barnes, I promise you. He's right up Smoot's alley, in the mouth department.
Remember the Smootmobile? Gimme a break. This guy is all about trash talk, and loves a wiseacre.

I agree. We will see how this plays out. Smoot hardly ever gets credit. He is great at 3rd corner. If someone goes down he fills in nicely. He doesn't mind being a 3rd corner. We need 4 good corners and we might have that. Last year when they all were healthy enough, they couldn't figure out how to keep them all happy. This year we have a rook that will be happy to just make the team. I know he wants Smoots job lol. More power to him but I don't think he is there yet. This is going to be an interesting training camp. Lets see how all this unfolds.

The video is on THN at the top of the page. I just viewed it and that is a hit that Sean Taylor would be proud of.

Me too. At first I didn't like it because the OT Meredith was still on the board but after I remembered who he was I liked the pick, and now I'm liking it more. He was a good physical corner at MD and he probably would've went a lot higher than where we took him if it wasn't for injuries. I think he will be a pretty good pro CB.

It was a nice hit, but I think the placement of the hit was a major factor in that guy losing his lunch. He hit him square in the bread basket and that has got to hurt. Overall, I hope he competes for the 3rd corner role and can make a difference on our team.

The young kid BETTER be that good at trash talking because nobody can do it better in this team than Smoot.
HOWEVER, if this guy is younger and is like Smoot, What do we call him?
Smoothie?
Just asking ...

While I have to admire his courage, I can't help questioning his judgement.

And what about this causes you to question his judgment?

Didn't Tryon come in with that same attitude last year?

Yeah but I think this guy is actually good.

Tryon and Westbrook will never see the field.
